The storyline to the song- Two people with a strong connection, which is what the wire resembles. One flies away because they both have different dreams. If they stay together, then they won’t fulfill their dreams. If they fulfill their dreams, they’ll be apart forever. One wants to leave the spot where they met (the wire) so they both can be free and have choices. The other says no, as oppose to saying “I’m tired” because they are too scared to say it in its actual words. They are both liars. Lying to keep each other on their feet. Life sucks. Rules don’t matter when your loved ones are in need.

If it makes you feel better, there's a trope for some romantic pairings in fiction where two characters will fake date for whatever reason, but then start to develop actual feelings for eachother, then the main dilema is either of them trying to figure out if they should tell the other they want to date for real or keep quiet since this might be the closest they get. This is usually how I interpret their relationship since it's clear they were fake dating at the end of 'Tweek x Craig', but when it's shown again later on (especially in tfbw) they show more genuine feelings towards eachother.
