I've been in and around combat sports the majority of my life, I grew up with wrestling, boxing, TKD, BJJ, even capoeira, and I've been in a few real life self defense situations (not proudly, I'm just not a big guy and I've been jumped a number of times). I just learned about 52 Blocks a couple days ago, and after watching your vids I can without a doubt say this one of the most practical and realistic approaches to self defense I've ever seen. I've been nonstop researching this system and one of my favorite parts is the general acceptance of randomness and chance inherent in the chaos of a streetfight, and that you gotta be able to read the situation and improvise. In a real life situation your adrenaline is pumping, you lose dexterity, your technique becomes sloppy, and you don't get to choose your environment, so understanding that you need to be able to commit these techniques to muscle memory AND be able to adapt them is the thing I respect most about this art. Thanks for the great teaching, I hope I find myself in your area someday!!

You are such a charismatic and dynamic instructor… hell yeah I subscribed!!! I love the dirty boxing techniques!!! 52 blocks is pretty freakin’ cool… the reason I love Pugilism and FMA is that these systems were propitiated by blue collar workers and people struggling through poverty… I could expand in this, but 52 blocks comes from real “hard” people who needed to survive in a tough environment, from what little I understand. Great video. Great energy. Great techniques. I respect what you are doing so much! Thank you for posting this.

What would stop the opponent from simply throwing a left hook to the body when you're doing "roll the dice"?
@ttc.o40077 ай бұрын
I would venture to say the first block of roll the dice instantaneously becomes a back fist , thus a block is a strike and a strike is a block, countering a follow through punch.
@tyechifitness333 ай бұрын
Don't forget there is also advance blocks as taught in Krav maga,when the block becomes the strike or done at the same time with both hands as well.

Why do black people prefer a martial art that was created by a black guy than an art that is just better all around for self defense? Just seems low key racist.

I couldn't tell if you said roll the dice or not on the 4th set you showed. Instead of going over your right hand w/ your left on the second beat, go under your right hand so you don't tie yourself up. There's a stick fighting pattern called heaven 6, try to do that w/ just your hands. If I was using sticks & went over my right hand w/ my left, then on the 3rd beat I wouldn't be able to reuse my right hand w/out cutting myself if I had blades
@TheSubwaysurfer10 ай бұрын
The“ close the door“ technique can also be done with the hands and arms horizontal like in George Foreman‘s signature“ cross arms defense“. If“ close the door“ was done horizontally, the end “dirty Bird” strike would flow much better because your arms are in that position. The only reason why I personally came up with that solution is thatMy arms are so tight that I’ve never been able to close them totally in that vertical position. Praying mantis style favors that position and because I could never get into it I could never Perform the movement
@TheSubwaysurfer10 ай бұрын
In the 52 I learned in Crown Heights Brooklyn, we would often throw the jab cross at the opponents triceps biceps or directly into the shoulder deltoid muscle. The idea was to beat up the arms rocky Marciano style, so that the personWould eventually be unable to defend his body and face properly. Also, by making the arms the target you also succeed in making your opponent gun shy as everything becomes a potential target for you to strike
@TheSubwaysurfer10 ай бұрын
In Crowne Heights we perform the“ roll the dice and “movement kind of like you were hitting a speed bag same movements single single, double double and keep the momentum in the flow going. We would combine that flow with the Roll the dice movement that you’re demonstrating here as well
@TheSubwaysurfer10 ай бұрын
What I love about the “ Dirtybird“ technique is that it can also be used to attack their eyes both I said that. Not to mention that is a great distraction you can combine that easily with a kick to the groin or as a preemptive strike to opponents face I can see how the opponent would immediately rolled his head back to get out of the way Furthermore, the technique can easily be used with the wing Chun LOP SAO Movement. If the opponent blocks the Dirtybird technique urine perfect position to grab his wrist inLOP SAO fashion
@kevincopeland93510 ай бұрын
instead of slapping down on stack the deck, slap your right hand on their arm not past your shoulder (a parry) then your left hand same area as you remove your right hand (a check) your right hand becomes a back fist. stand in a doorway & touch the frame w/ your right, then same spot w/ your left & swing your right out like the back fist to get down w/ the movement. you can also climb their arm w/ same pattern to get closer to them if you was to far out

I appreciate all forms of training. But looking at the technical aspects the instructor is doing, I think I speak for most people that know at least a little about boxing, is that we want to see your “style” go up against a pure boxer. Or even an Muay Thai trained fighter or MMA practitioner. I’ve boxed for many years and have trained in other disciplines, but most of my fights have been in the street due to my background as a bouncer and private security contractor. These moves on the video do not seem to be effective enough to commit to memory, and students should be wary about that before they try to use it on the ring or street..
@mathEspinoza9167 ай бұрын
stack the deck would never work against a skilled oppenent! If i see you parry one or two of my hits ill just feint the next hit go low to the solar plexus! There are practical skills in this style but the overly complicated a flashy bits will get you washed
