I agree, in the 80’s I trained at Hawkins Wing Chun Academy: Guys would come in to challenge us, mine you not, we didn’t have matted floors or wore uniforms. Guys always left bloody & swollen, sometimes broken bones.

Thank you professor Mo! I purchased your DVDs and watch your videos. 52 blocks is applicable to self defense the CQB applications are effective and devastating. You are a knowledgeable and humble instructor unlike many others in social media regardless of style. Keep it up!

Excellent points Prof. Mo. Organization is key. This is what masters of other African Diasporan martial arts have discovered. In order to prevent their arts from corruption or extinction they developed structures (i.e., schools, organizations, institutions, and so on) to ensure that they were learned, practiced, and taught properly. We in the 52 Blocks community are at this same crossroads today.

Every martial arts system has a governing body , an organization and curriculum. This. make up , do what I want crap is why it’s not considered a Martial Arts. I have a BB in TKD, Karate, Vee Arnis Jujitsu, Krav Maga and BJJ and all those disciples have a Code of Conduct and a curriculum. You can just do thing off the top of your head, especially if you have no skills.

ok, master mo, so what's your thoughts on the cinematic fight between jet li and Mike tyson in Ipman 3 ? an how would you fair against a prime jet li? also, i'll give some pushback on kungfu cinema! if you just actually mastered, say, snake style. Wouldn't that be considered a tool in mma? imagine those actors who actually were gymnist to circus performers,so that's a skill. How many of you can flip like that? so what if you trained simone biles in the 52block skill? She'd be untoucable and considered she's the greatest gymnist ever,so therefore meaning it'll be a tool? y/n?

Better to look for a good master for 10 years, then train with a bad master for 10 years. Everything you say is a fact. I'm just a student for life. With a passion for martial arts. Thank you for the great story 💯❤️🇹🇭🙏

Used to be able to walk into a dojo and show people how phony it was. Some places still allow you to walk in and try out, usually bjj places

Yes, but the problem is that you can be sued or be charged with assault. You and I don’t have the legal right to attack someone because you don’t like the way they teach or you don’t think they are legit. I’ve warned my young BJJ brothers because the video these attempts. What if the phony martial arts dies?

The problem I have with 52 Blocks, is it is DIFFICULT to find "Schools" of 52--it seems to always be tied to INDIVIDUALS who you must know personally or at least, live in their area. I think people who we see on KZbin have a good heart, but don't have access to anyone to help them.

In France, you can't open any martial art school without beeing affiliated to a sport federation depending on French ministry of sport. AND, you have to have a diploma in sport education. There's no chance you can open a underground martial school in your garage as you can do in other countries. Why such rules ? Because in the 60/70's a Judo teacher was killed by a blood chocke by one of his student during a ground fight. After the incident, was reported that the teacher used to fake collapse when blocking in a choke. The student noticed that and the day he killed his instructor he choked him but didn't release when the teacher really collapse which made the guy to die. French sport minister said that from this date, only real professionals would be allowed to teach martial arts.

We tried that many yrs ago but they stopped it from being a rule.

@@52blocksfederation83 So bad. I hope you can be successful with your federation because your art deserve qualified teacher. 52 Blocks is really interesting both as a self defense system and a cultural treasure. Wish you a wonderful year. Respect from France.

Salutte!, I'm Brazilian, I'm 43 years old and I've been researching 52 blocks for a while. Excuse my ignorance, is this martial art only taught to African Americans or is it also taught to white audiences? Do you know if there is any representative here in Brazil? Thank you!

Being trained in person can be a blessing but the new norm is vital. So, why cannot be trained by seeing the video? I everybody can afford traveling, and fees for class/training.

Check out our Patreon. It gives you a breakdown on what level you can but on or the level you want to be on. I was talking to people who want elite training. You can learn a lot from You Tube without spending a dime however, most people want to be elite and that comes at a cost. You don’t have to do it but most people want to be “elite”. If you just want to fight ; watch the videos, go outside and try it out but if you want to be part of an organization work with or talk to professionals and be certified…….
