If you wake up with stress headaches, if you feel tension all through your body, if you find your mind spinning the same painful thought patterns over and over, gong meditation might be right for you. Sound bath meditations like this one are a really amazing way to get into mindfulness meditation. Even if you don't have a gong or a singing bowl, daily meditation practice is proven to help reduce stress.
I struggle to meditate sometimes, especially in silence. The mind wanders (and that's okay, don't judge yourself!). Sometimes having something to focus your attention on can help. And what better to focus your attention on than playing or listening to a 52" Chau Gong? It is like a massive subwoofer!
Wherever you are (if it's safe), get comfortable. Take some long deep breaths (I like to do box breathing, or 4-7-8 breathing where you breathe in on a 4 count, hold for a 7 count, then release for an 8 count). Listen to the sound of the gong as you scan your body and mind for stress and tension. When you find a tense spot or pain in your body, release it to the sound and let the sound carry it away. If you have difficult or annoying thoughts arising, picture them as a little ball of grey matter, and let the sound wash it away.
If this interests you, you can get your own gong or singing bowl. It doesn't have to be 52" like this one, but it can help you to be more of an active participant in the meditative process. Or, come back here every week. Like and subscribe to see and hear more great videos like this one.
