My boyfriend is first generation Mexican-American and the amount of times she has been harassed about her immigration status because she didn't understand the wording the officer used is infuriating, she got her citizenship 60 years ago and is in her 70's. She speaks perfect English they just ask confusing questions and then get all up in her face when she says she's from Mexico.

I don't know how fair it is to say that sexual orientation is a spectrum, but politics can't be. Someone can have nuance. People can hold liberal stances on issues and conservative stances on issues. I'm a lot more fiscally conservative than socially, but I am somewhat socially conservative. If you don't want all gay people to be a monolith, don't claim that gay people can't have some conservative stances. - a gay guy :)

Definitely agree it’s counterproductive to say that being gay/🏳️‍🌈 means that you have to agree with every liberal stance. Imo ppl need to see nuance instead of conservative = homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist etc. The truth is often in between and not having these discussions just builds divides.

We’ve become too black and white. The reality is nuanced and being conservative doesn’t automatically make u a bigot, homophobe, racist, transphobe etc and being liberal does not automatically make u not racist, homophobic, facist, Marxist or extremist. It’s time to grow up and have real conversations where people can see nuance and truth. This is counterproductive.
