So this was *amazingly* helpful. I didn't use it to install the fan but rather to help me replace the receiver. It was *exactly* what I needed.
@davesnyd5 жыл бұрын
I see you're answering questions: my one issue was that the new receiver is a hair smaller than the old-- so I could only attach with one screw. I'm left concerned that it will vibrate loose from the fan. What would you do? Should I reopen and use electrician's tape? Super glue? Any other suggestions?

The one thing that's not mentioned about this fan is that it is not adjustable or pivots to accommodate mounting onto a vaulted ceiling. My roof is a 4/12 pitch, which makes my ceiling a vaulted pitch of 2/12. But my wife had wanted it mounted anyway. I had watched this video to see if there was anything different on the installation of this fan as compared to a standard fan, but this installation was straight forward and easy much like a standard ceiling fan. Light is bright and the fan is whisper quite, which I'll have to get use to because I'm use to the sound of a box fan.

So that's what that hook is for. I spent two hours driving back and forth to get a ladder so I could rest the fan on it while I connected the wires. LOL, Thanks for the tips man! What do you do with the green wire if the house lines only have black and white?
@Captain0585 жыл бұрын
What if you want to control the light with a wall switch? Why is this never covered by Harbor Breeze nor is it made clear anywhere which fans will allow the light power to be passed through and which cannot, such as this model? It's really low standard for a home improvement company that passes itself off as "experts". Apologies for the negative tone, but I've had it with asking for information on these either in-store, online, or on the phone and being treated like I asked the most complicated, ridiculous question. It's pretty straightforward... many homes have separate switches for fan/light... how do you deal with that in your model lines and on each model? Needless frustration to me trying to sort this out myself without information to go by.

@Mina-uq8ku3 жыл бұрын
My question is similar. I bought 2 and had someone install them but I have 2 switches on wall that worked with old fan one controlled light and one fan. The Mazon doesn’t do that and I’m wondering if the person installed it wrong. Doesn’t seem right what if remote control gets lost the fan will always remain either on or off?...

Hello Sir, I've installed the fan following your instruction but ONE switch does not work, let me explain So I have 2 wall switches which controlled the previous fan & light individually. How I connected the wires: A red wire (not showing on your instructions) from the house was connected to Black House/Fan. As a play with the wall switches, one switch does not work at all. The one switch controls the fan & the light - Did I do something wrong?

The red was connected to a blue wire on the old fan and the black was connected to the black on the old fan. This fan has only black and white. I just installed three of these. One made a very faint hum but the fan would not turn. I took off the light and jiggled the large snap connector below the fan and also that little capped wire. Fan started to work so I put the light back on and left it alone. It's a little worrisome but it's working 2 days, fingers crossed.

I am trying to install a Harbor Breeze Sail Stream ceiling fan but the instructions requires a cable to go around a wooden support structure in the ceiling as a added safety feature. The cable normally does nothing but keeping the fan hanging in case when the fan (with or without the electrical outlet box attached) fall off for whatever reason. I've watched a few instructional videos and none showed installation of the cable. Is that step absolutely necessary? The fan weights about 20lb.
