Make sure you give the video a thumbs up 👍🏻 Gearbust have been thumbs downing my videos ever since I publicly shamed them, I need to help to minimise the impact.

I had horrible experience with the EU banggood they send me a used TinySA with scratch screen and broken selection wheel. I don't advice anyone dealing either with gearbest or banggood. I only trust aliexpress.

Review should contain testing transient responses. How looks output, are there overshots, how clean is the output.

Juraj Lonc - that’s a fair comment, it had run through my mind that I should hook up a scope to show that, but then forgot all about it! If I get time I might do a quick follow up video showing those things.

Hi Scott sense terminals are usually connected internally via resistors you should be able measure this from the front panel.

Hi, mate. Good video. I was looking for a regulation and ripple test for the power supply. I can see the output waveform facility being a good asset.
@tautech81965 жыл бұрын
The ripple spec on these PSU's is very low and somewhat hard to measure without an EMI clean lab. Some checks of transient response and ripple on the SDP1168X are posted here: www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/new-spd1168x-siglent-psu/msg1680749/#msg1680749 When Defpom gives my SPD1305X back I'll post some ripple and transient tests there too.

How can I set output to be -24vdc and +24vdc as dual power supply?
@TheDefpom5 ай бұрын
@@chanvu1077 you can’t, it’s not a dual rail power supply

I went with this power supply for my first $50+ supply! Seems ok-ish so far.. Same gripes as you on this end as well.. Sometimes when it switches to CC mine seems to overshoot a bit sometimes. Push mine pretty hard! Tons of learning experiences being put through their paces on this thing here and still ok a few months in besides the CC overshoot :(

Thanks for this series of reviews. I have the SPD3303X-E which has a similar UI and I have to agree with you that the 'output enabled' indication just isn't obvious enough...even with the front panel LEDs (on the SPD3303X-E) which are very dim. I also find that the graph feature is nearly useless unless you are working on systems with significant current/voltage excursions. In my case I frequently work at around 100mA supply current which on the graph is a line near zero. A 20mA change is virtually invisible. An auto-scale feature would be excellent here. Other than this I've done many test on the SPD3303X-E and it handles overloads and output enable cycles gracefully with no measurable overshoot - a really excellent supply for the money. BTW - during the 4-wire measurements in your video, it would have been better to connect the sense lines directly to the brass connectors on the load - this would eliminate the voltage drop from the banana jack contacts - which can be "significant" in some cases.

Great suggestion on an auto scaling feature, thanks I'll pass this to the factory.

Late to the game here but just purchased this unit! I’m noticing that with no load, I am reading a configured 2V output as 1.9968V. Also seeing the “channel off” voltage of around -13mV. Are these reading generally considered within specifications ?
@TheDefpom3 жыл бұрын
I actually don’t know, it will say what the accuracy is in the manual, so you should be able to work it out.

Hi defpom, when choosing for a triple psu like the spd3303 the serial and parallel use is done inside and one can choose the outer plus and minus for high voltages. If buying two of this units, does siglent offer smart communications between two of this devices for parallel or series connection? I want to charge lifepo4 systems with a stable 52V or just 8 cells in series at 10 Amps. Any thoughts? Keep up the good reviews b.t.w. It is awesome to buy a unit that already has been analised by you in a very thourough way 😃
@TheDefpom3 жыл бұрын
I don’t have experience doing remote control of devices, but I believe that you can use SCPI commands to control them, which means you could control two units at the same time using suitable software. Siglent do have software, but I’m not sure it can control 2 units.

Very nice detailed preview. I don't see any competitor in this price range right now. I'ts obvious that Siglent has reused the interface from the SPD3303C where it was perfect. The fine button first selected between coarse/fine and on the later X models it moves the cursor on the digits. Makes sense I think. But the [left] and [right] cursor buttons confusing things up. I would use these four buttons [Fine] [] [Ver|Lock] as cursor controls [up], [down], [left], [right] and to enter or agree press the wheel. Next the [IP|Save] button should become [Menu|Lock]. Then it's perfect again ;-)

Very nice review! Like the neutral way with a tad of humor you apply :-). Would there be a possible export (live or not) for the values that are shown on the screen in order not having to stare at 40mA/pixel at the tiny screen? Read somewhere that the Korad was a cheaper alternative but this one is linear and has a sense option too so apples and pears comparisment.

Thanks for the video and reviewing the unit.. i bought it! Sorry for the dumb question.. but.. can you provide me a link for those wires you using so I'll be able to use the remote Vsense feature for more accurate readings.. ?

Hi Scott could you please not put the red border around the thumbnails on the videos page. I assume I'm not the only one but I can't tell if I have watched it before because I can not see the red progress bar along the bottom.

I changed the thumbnails to try and make them stand out more on various youtube pages, I hadn't considered the red "viewed" bar along the bottom, hmm... I will look to change it.

I dislike the idea of putting a computer interface on a linear power supply. It is very annoying to see that creep solely for the reason to fool people to buy a flashy color screen model which has nothing to do with Linear power supply performance. For that reason i dislike this model from the bat. The "waveform" option is absolutely worthless in practical lab use. It's just for a gimmick.

I noticed a sudden increase since I did the gearbest shaming video, I also get about the same number every video within a few minutes of the video going live, I am 90% sure gearbest is getting its staff to thumbs down my videos.
