I am 25 years old, an independent student and I am planning to transfer to Cornell University after finishing 2 years at my community college. Can I take student loan on my name and is it the same as taking a loan to buy a car? Thank you!

You can take the federal direct loan out by yourself. Most Private lenders would need you to have a cosigner.

Thank you for this informative video. Do you have any suggestions about how to use a 529 if a grandparent is the holder of the plan? That being said, it would be used for a school that did not request the CSS profile. There is plenty of money in this 529 plan for all 4 years of college. I'd love a video on this scenario.
