Whether you realize it or not, your communications degree has shaped you into a business man and pushed you to become who you are today. Don't underestimate the power of a degree. As a mid 20s degree-holder, Learn online and make moves quick. Moves will either work out or teach you a semesters worth of insight. Only way I can recommend media or communications degrees from schools is if you stream the entire process GoPro style, challenge the professors and go Simon Cowell when your peers present their work. Otherwise the internet has more info and it stays up to date better. Test the value yourself, get half decent with Photoshop, get some odd-sized hardstock paper and a frame... Run rampant through these industries

@Zulu Tiger Well it really depends what you want to do in life, i get that you prefer to sit at a desk and make 5 figure's a week but some people treat grass cutting as exercise maybe even an art. Most of us are independent, don't hire mexicans to cut for us and we love our job even though it doesn't make cash with low effort. You can't enjoy every single thing in life, you enjoy what you love and your life is what you make it. Some people just like to work hard for what they have
@scrapinpennies43653 жыл бұрын
@Zulu Tiger I see what you're saying, and im not trying to say that you're career preference requires less work at all. Im just implying that some people will stick with this job as they don't see a purpose to pursue another career. Im in highschool doing lawncare right now but im not gonna stick to strictly cutting blades, im planning on branching out to other hustles such as car flips or carpentry because i want to stay self employed, fuck people making times and standards and choosing what they pay me. Thats just me though, and others alike. If you want to do stock trading, computer data analysis, art, writing, encryption, web design, video game engine coding, software engine coding or whatever, you can do it and i support it. We all stick to what we want to do, sorry if i came off as a rude fuck

I’ve been a solo self employed guy for 30 years now. Many advantages, anyone who can be dedicated, communicate well with customers, and offer quality work can do a business. For the last 5 years I have shifted my business to just a lawn mowing business and a snowplowing business. Finding time off when I choose is not the way my business really works. I have 56 lawn customers and I mow at least 10 to 16 lawns per day, 5 days a week, roughly 6hr days. The lawn mowing business requires weekly cuts, at least here in the northeast...I have weekends off, usually, but I get 10 days off in late September, early October.....that’s the only break in the 8 month season when we can escape. Winter? I get lots of time off but I have to be local if it snows, hard to vacation. What I’ve experienced over 3 decades of self employment is I am married to my business, and my wife as well. I have put the business first as many owners do. Money? Absolutely. But if a “boss” asked me to work as hard as I have, to take 5 minute lunch breaks, to start in the office at 6:30 every morning, to crawl under mowers at the end of the day to sharpen blades, to spend my money on more and more equipment, to drive trucks and vans instead of a sweet sports car, well he could kiss my ass. Yet here I am. Running your own business is at least double the work of showing up to someone else’s company , but hey, I can do whatever I want.

Great advice and can tell your on track to being very successful in this business. One thing I could add after doing this for 24 years is suggesting using Monday's for maintenance day and then mowing just 4 days a week with a employee. It makes things so much easier and besides most people would prefer not to have their lawns mowed on Monday's. Then use Saturday's to do landscape projects for customers or shrub trimming. Life is Great! ...God bless!

60 yrs. Old and worked in office all my life. For the most part I was always highly stressed especially after moving in to management. That stress has left me suck and had to take early retirement. I have always enjoyed mowing, and did it as a kid for relatives. They have and still comment how much they like my yard. Some neighbors ask if I would cut there grass and would pay me for it. In addition, learned ageing as a kid to fix mowers, will neighbors found out about it and now I fix there mowers. Long story short, if I had to do it all over again, I would do what your doing. I would differently be healthier, not sick. Being business no minded, I have no doubt I would have blown that business out and would be in great financial shape by now. I'm a full time paramedic, I mow as an additional income, the money is good as long you have the yards and have reliable customers you can depend on to pay you after every mow. I been doing for the past 8 years now, I found it can be uncertain times in lawn care services, due to drought and customers not being able to afford the mowing services nomore! I live in Tennessee, where lawn mowing season is pretty long, usually from March till first week of November you can mow, there's alot of competition out there! Alot of people mow as an additional source of income in my area! For me it works mowing part time and not fully relying on mowing services money to live, just because there's times you can't simply rely on the lawn care business!

@MF-XYLYL4 жыл бұрын
@@sebas.0773 my advice, head to the subdivisions in your city. Lotsa retired folk, go door to door confidently, ask them straight up. "Hi ma'am/mistet, would you want your lawn taken care of for $_?" From there, use a bike tow wagon or have your parents drive you around until you can get a better mower, build a reputation and spread to other subdivisions. Especially here in California, you can technically start a business legally at 14 (that's what I did) and hire some of your classmates/other kids to spread across. Or just keep it personal.

Hey man just found the channel, great content! I lived in Tampa a while back and worked with a guy who had a yard service and we were doing 18-26 yards a day. At the time I thought to myself I can do this! Anyway, about 4 years later I’m finally about to start mine up this spring. This was a good hype video as well as informative. Appreciate it!

You could also create an 'add-on' menu. For example, for another $20, you could spray a lawn with Iron or a host of fertilizers. Or apply a weed killer for $20, etc. So many options...

Zachary, thanks for the video. It was sort of like a short film and I absolutely love that you took us on a 'real time' instruction - brilliant. There are plenty of books out there about this, you could write one too, please call it three tools and a truck! I will use your information and it has already helped as I start my business part time. Lucky for me, I am well backed financially to buy good equipment and tools however, that's all pointless if you don't have a good amount and quality of customers eh? That is where your information helps. Thanks again. Johnny

I have a Question. What if a customer one day asks you to mulch, seed, etc.... do you offer that service or do you tell them off the bat that all you do is mow and clean up?
@Makemoneymowing4 жыл бұрын
I will do the occasional mulching- most of my yards can be mulched with under 10 bags so no biggie! I just don't offer it as a service for new callers, only my existing customers. I don't do seeding, all i do is the mows, fertilizer, weed sprays, hedge trims, mulch, and that's it!

11:15 dude u are so smart. I did the same. Start off with some yard maybe not having the best quotes. But those same people reccomend . And ultimately if u always do a good job peoppe themselves see that and will ask for your service. Hey man you should really consider rather getting a landscaping license . I'm trying to do the same by the age of 25 . . . That way u can just hire people to help you and that's when you take on big businesses and what not. And if you know pipping and irrigation that's a plus too. .

Hey I got the stuff I need but I'd have to haul it around my neighborhood since I'm without a car. I'm asking because I'm trying to make money and I'm the same age as you also I just moved here.

Another great video ! Do you offer aerating and overseeding and weed treatment to customers or just a simple mow? And do you guys decide together what length it gets cut at?
@Makemoneymowing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I do not do aeration or seeding, just mowing, fertilizer, weed spray, hedge trims, mulching, and some cleanups! And for length I just determine what would look best for their yard, and if they ever want it higher/shorter they can let me know and I will adjust 😎
