Watching this one again, just to see the lovely scenery from when we were allowed out - Lancaster Canal looks lovely, well worth the Ribble Link trip :)

Aww, we loved Glasson Basin and spent a week there. Definitely we’ll worth a visit and the trip down the locks! We loved the Lancaster Canal too. We can’t understand how some people only seem to spend 2 weeks doing the whole canal, we took 7 weeks and could have stayed longer. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍

Thank you for taking me along with you. I am envious. Here in the USA everyone is speeding along in a motorhome on the freeways, and they miss a lot of the little things along the way. In a narrow boat it’s the journey and not the destination. Great video.

Michael W. Salter - Hi Michael, that’s what we always say, it’s the journey that counts not the destination. We did consider A Motorhome but didn’t do it for exactly those reasons, we would still be in the Rat Race!! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

I came across your videos with the Hest Bank one. On that one you said there were no locks on the Lancaster canal. I am pleased to see that you found them. What a pity it would have been having traveled the distance you have to have missed out on Glasson. I'm enjoying your videos

Aww, thank you Bill. Glad you’re enjoying the vlogs. 🤣😂, we did know that the Lancaster had locks down to the Glasson docks. I probably meant on the main canal! Anyway, we loved the Glasson basin and stayed there for a week. Great sunrises! Thanks for watching and commenting!👍

@@ournarrowboatquest4894 I was moored in Glasson marina at one time for about six months. It was certainly different with all the seagoing boats when it was windy with all the ropes slapping and bells clanging.

@ 11:40, you pass a marina with many power boats. Are they also held to the 5mph maximum speed limit on the canals? I think I join everyone, and, of course, yourselves, in feeling that it is the slow speed limit that makes this entire experience so spectacular. It really is special. Enjoy!
@ournarrowboatquest48945 жыл бұрын
Travel Seekers - Thank you, yes the speed limit is 5mph maximum for all boats. With regards to narrow boating we always say that it’s all about the journey and not the destination. Thanks for watching and commenting!👍

When you where looking over the river that was the railway line to Lancaster. The wreck in the marina at glasson was a home to some guy who was supposed to have gone away and when he came back his boat had sunk. Some locals fishing furnished that bit of info. Smoke house is a corking place but a bit pricey. If you're there again go to the top of the hill and you get a great view from the south lakes down to Blackpool.
@ournarrowboatquest48945 жыл бұрын
Peter Kay - Hi Peter, we did cycle up to Lancaster from the basin, it was a lovely ride, almost all off road. We picked up our information from the local pub! 🤣. We did buy some produce from the Smokehouse as you said, a bit pricey. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
