They wont be, this is a niche market...whether its magics and illicit or gourmet and medicinal...meat will always be the primary staple and secondarily veg and fruits or maybe i should reorder that and say processed/box bullshit. But never mushrooms no matter the efficacy.

@@ryandixon1102 What data do you have to back up these claims? All forecasts show that there is tremendous market potential in fungi. In many parts of the world mushrooms are not niche but a mainstay, so why won't that happen in the US? The mushroom businesses I am working with are growing exponentially fast. Everyone and their cousin is starting an urban myco farm. Avocados, kale, and non-meat alternatives were "niche" 20 years ago, and now I can find all three of these option at most fast food restaurants. Avocados are practically worth their weight in gold. The world is moving away from our reliance on meat. Growing mushrooms is far more sustainable. Right now most grocery stores sell Agaricus bisporus only... shiitake if you are lucky. Water's warm jump in my guy. Room for everyone.

Indeed. 4 years later and I’m finally in a place to try to get the ball rolling. Coming to the comments to give a huge thanks. Amazing seeing the beautiful sterilizers available now with bubba barrels. Thank you Mr. Myers!!

I built one for just about $200. I am actually running it now on six test bags stacked on my false bottom floor. I opted for a steel grate welded to a custom table-like set of steel legs instead of the solid steel flat sheet. Im very happy with the results and I learned some new skills making it (tig welding specifically). Getting the level of the float just right can be tricky and if you can find a smaller stainless float I would go with that as the water level will not need to be as high, leaving more room for substrate and spawn inside the barrel. Thank you for the inspiration! Also shout out to archers mushrooms out of the UK for very detailed build instructions

I’m skipping the false bottom In exchange for multiple grill grates that I mount with bolts through side wall of barrel. About to test run the puppy with no substrate and if all goes well will install my racks. The grill grates will be easily removable, just pick em up. My thought is this should help reduce run time via increased surface area of steam on bags. Anything for a more thorough sterilization and steam penetration. Stacking the bags on top of each other on 1 false bottom just seems like it goes against everything I learned about spacing the bags during sterilization. I’m thinking I should be able to get roughly 4 racks in my 55 gallon barrel. I may loose a bit of internal space but should be negligible as I will place each upper level grate essentially utop of the bags below. Maybe loosing a total of 1-2 inches of spice while ensuring no bags touch each other.

Sir if I use a big steriliser box do I need to put a small hole on top to avoid pressure buildup?what if the source of my steam is a drum below and also part of the steamer box,does it produce pressure in the whole steamer if I will not place a small hole above the box?tnx

Great videos - did you know caulking contains low grade talc, which in turn is considered low grade as it contains asbestos. It warns not to apply where abrasion can take place. Just letting you know.

Hey my man. Long time watcher here. I love your videos, they're fantastic! I was hoping that you could let me know if you did anything to reinforce this barrel you have here. I have acquired a food grade steel drum and I'm waiting on a heating element and the rest of the kit, but I've been doing some reading and apparently these barrels start bulging out at 8psi. Other sources say they can handle up to 40psi. I'm nervous to try in case I get a nice explosion. If we are aiming for 15psi over a few hours, surely there has to be some reinforcement to the steel to stop it from bulging. That being said, I've seen lots of these sterilizers around and as far as i can tell, the only reinforcement would be the insulating layer. What's your take? I was thinking if reinforcement is needed, some ribs around the outside and on each end may have to be welded on, and some MIG welding around the seams to double them up. I will have to learn welding! Anyway. Any info you can provide on how these drums handle pressure would be invaluable to me. Peace and love

@@matthewholloway9507 ah yes i understand now. I thought that these barrels were reinforced for 15psi but i understand they are meant for steaming for several hours at atmospheric pressure now. Still ingenious. Still gonna build it :) Thank you!

Put on a safety valve on lid, problem solved. But barrel drum like this, Im just curious it could be sealed perfectly as a pressure canner. 🤔 maybe he puts on a gasket and lid lock? If not, those steams gonna find their way out anyway. Anyhow.. always have a backup hole 😂 good luck

It's so easy to build a feedback loop driven boiler like this it's not even funny bubba's barrels is a total rip-off I'm sorry maybe he's the greatest guy ever but he rips people off that's way too expensive for what you're getting I could literally build three of these in an afternoon
@MyersMushroomsFarms
@MyersMushroomsFarms 6 жыл бұрын
You get what you pay for. Its turnkey, TIG welded, and full Stainless steel, and of course there is going to be a markup for the company to make a profit. Not everyone can fabricate like you and I so i teamed up with Bubbas and they are doing a great job of production and product support. Talk to anyone who has one and they are fully satisfied. Of course you can always build it yourself for cheaper that's why i share how to build it for those that would like to as well as offer them pre built through Bubbas. It realistically takes a worker 1 day to make one of these, machine shop labor rates go around $100+ an hour. They are build to order so basically these are custom made and not on an assembly production line where costs could drop.

@@MyersMushroomsFarms I'm not trying to be an asshole I'm really not but I'm in the wrong goddamn business. I could build these at a third of the cost of what they're being sold for maybe I will. I would still make a huge profit.

@@samd1405 how on Earth is my claim that I could build it for a third of the price Greg? I mean it's not like I said I could build one of those in my sleep with my arms tied behind my back. I literally have all the components in my garage and I will build one today probably in about a half-hour other than the insulation and I didn't pay maybe $30 for everything? Actually no $30 I got for the that came with a very long thermocouple and I paid 17 for the element. I have a real heavy duty cable already for the chords I believe it's 8 or 10 gauge I can't recall if I had to buy the plug and which I already have you would add $5 onto it. Real simple feedback loop is there a rocket science in the parts are available everywhere. Go to pay $2,000 for a goddamn barrel with a PID on it no I'm sorry this gouging that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Oh shit I forgot it's $30 for the float. So what's that all together somewhere around $80?. The Damned Farrell's the only expensive thing. But again how is it bragging to say you could build one for cheaper? That doesn't make me special that just makes me honest
