The first recording to kick off the Dominia-day (aka D-day) tournament report.
A very different tournament setup than usual with some pretty creative ways to get extra points towards your final score at the tournament.
In the first part of this video I go over the tournaments rules, then there’s a quick deck tech for the deck I’m bringing which is very different than what I brought at the previous two recorded tournaments on this channel.
After the 10 minute mark- Say hello to my non-powered, mono-green Stompy setup and a sleek non-powered, mono-black prison deck as they battle it out in this first round of the event.
Will the forest dwelling critters overrun the forces of darkness or will they all get imprisoned in the winter-orb, icy manipulator, underworld dreams machine in the end? We shall see...
Mtg old school. 93/94. Swedish B/R.

When you fail to pay for the Naf's Asp effect the damage continues to reoccur every upkeep until payment is made.

I know I’m late but I’d add winter orb to the deck. It’s automatically a must of IMO.

14:45: What the heck is going on here? You can respond by activating the other factory, let this resolve and then pumping the other factory to 3/3, which can attack later. Tapping with the Icy at this point is quite useless.

Yeah I think I’ve seen that as well at some point. It seems like a good combination though Im a bit reluctant about it as a non-powered deck, it might not be optimal against a player with full moxen and fellwar stones. But that nafs asp combo with winter orb does seem like a fun and tasty little side combo to it. I’ll def. give those orbs a twirl at some point. 👍

Awesome match! Monogreen has always been a favorite of mine, so I'm really enjoying seeing you pilot this one. Curious though, why is it in game one you couldn't tap the factory for mana in response to the icy, in order to activate the other? Anyways, good show! 👍
@RaVNeFLoK
@RaVNeFLoK 4 жыл бұрын
groveling goblin I can understand that! it’s a really fun archetype - I dig it too. Yes that was a mistake in the narration, it is perfectly feasible to activate the other factory as a response to the icy. :)

The last match was awesome! I am assuming you have the avoid fate in your deck (among other reasons) to counter a swords to plowshares or terror after you cast a berserk.
@RaVNeFLoK
@RaVNeFLoK 4 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly- that’s the main reason for its inclusion in the deck. But so far it seems to be sitting in hand a lot as I usually don’t have any important permanents apart from when a creature goes berserk and perhaps the pendlehaven. So I’m not sure about it looking back at these games. Perhaps just more creatures and less moving parts would be better? Or more hurricanes lol

@21:50, would not chaos orb on the evil presence be better? It allows you to deal with any further hippies, and if he blocks any you can pump.
@RaVNeFLoK
@RaVNeFLoK 4 жыл бұрын
Bernhard Wang That’s a very good point. A case could definitely be made for that play instead. I think I hoped to draw into another pendelhaven to fix the evil presence situation and just wanted his creature gone and then close the game, but I think the line of play you suggest would be better in the long run. 👍

One question about the third game. Your opponent played giant growth + berserk + berserk for a total of 16 damages. Don't they resolve in the opposite way? Therefore berserk + berserk and finally giant growth for 7 damages?
@RaVNeFLoK
@RaVNeFLoK 3 жыл бұрын
Yes if you dont pass priority and play them all in one block in that sequence they would resolve berserk-berserk-giant growth for reduced damage. You are exactly right. What you can do to avoid this situation is to let the giant growth resolve first (as in you pass priority after giant growth). And only after the +3/+3 is resolved successfully on the creature THEN you cast the berserks. in usual games people don’t want to go through each and every step for an attack- so casting giant growth. Asking if there is any response and then afterwards going berserk + berserk is quick and fine.

Would Birds of Paradise be better than Elves of Deep Shadow? You could get green mana and attack or block with flying and with giant growth and berserk.
@RaVNeFLoK
@RaVNeFLoK 4 жыл бұрын
Joe B the problem with the birds in my eyes is that the pendelhaven can’t boost them because they are not 1/1- so I’m not really a fan of them in this setup though in many others they are great. Both kind of elves can get boosted by it. Another take is that perhaps more hurricanes main deck could be way to move forward?- as you said, tiny stompy lacks flyers. So that could be another possible way to rectify it. 3-4 hurricanes.
@joeb1522

@@RaVNeFLoK I like the idea of more hurricanes. They are good in finishing off players as well.

06:55: I don't like the Elves of Deep Shadow in this Deck. They don't help you much, because they only produce Black Mana and even do Damage to you. I would have preferred Wyluli Wolves, who can always pump Creatures, who come through the Defence. A second Hurricane would be a good choice, because if your Offence is stopped, you can't do that much anymore. Direct Damage can always win. The better without The Elves of Deep Shadow. :-)

Joe B ah yeah good idea! I think perhaps whirling dervish should be in sb and then 2 druids and 2 wulyi wolves in the main deck instead (sadly I didn’t have any of them at hand when I made this deck, but they shouldn’t be too expensive to acquire). Thx for the heads up- I had forgotten about the Druid.👍

@@RaVNeFLoK dervish is a solid card, I often run them maindeck too...but I agree that Wyluli Wolf is helpful for keeping the pressure on in a deck like this. I've thought of using Timber Wolves similarly. How do you feel Sylvan Library performed? I go back and forth on this card in builds like this, that have no shuffle effect or similar ways to utilize it. After the initial draw you're back to seeing one new card a turn, and you're down a card for playing it.
