The striker is designed to come out of the clasp, just pull on the exposed end, the compass is a "tap top" gently tap once when your holding it in a stationary position to ensure free movement. The cord can come undone and used for multiple things. -US army SGT Anthony Har

@@mail-qh2qc You have to use striker to shave off some of the flint rod (the magnesium it's made of is extremely flammable), use flat end of striker and press teeth against flint rod hard and rub it up and down the flint rod to shave off the magnisium until you get a nice tiny pile of it (I recommend you use the back end of the flint rod that's on the inside of the bracelet (the side your skin touches) scrape that side off and strike from the outer side (the side compass is on)). Place the pile of magnisium onto some dry brush or your toilet paper, writing paper, etc. The sparks, when they hit the shavings will ignite it quickly. That's how you use it. I hope that helps.

This is a Dollarama product. That being said, for the1$ I paid for mine, I am impressed. Pro tip. Using a folded piece of wire threaded through the pattern, you are able to pull things like fishing line or snare wire bundles into the core of the bracelet. I also made a wooden bead out of fatwood and added 3 different fish hooks ( with a bead of hot glue on the sharp barb) safety tucked into the pattern. The blade is terrible and hard on the fero rod, I ground mine to a flat pointed blade(without teeth) without messing up the hardened steels temper(yep it hardened), thus blade pulls out easily and doubles as one arrow head, and a darn good one. The para cord center, when frayed with your mini knife is absolutely amazing tinder, and is easily cut off a small section at a time. The compass is decently accurate as long as it's UNCLIPPED from the firesteel side. The compass is sensitive to metals. If you stash a bundle of wire in the bracelet pattern, keep it to the same side as the steel, so you don't need to remove your snare wire to an accurate reading on your compass. Also, hold the compass AWAY from the body, or set it down on a level surface to take measurements. The whistle won't help you if you are being murdered, or drowning.. ridiculous. The space I side the whistle is rather large and could hold all sorts of things, like your cocaine or heroine(Wake-ups/Tylenol). Sweet bracelets Mine was a good tight wind so I could put an amazing amount of basic life support items.
@mickeypopa4 жыл бұрын
To be fair, the whistle isn't meant to save you from being murdered, that's what self-defense tools & techniques are for. Or from drowning, that's what swimming is for. ;) That aside, the whistle is meant to attract attention should you ever find yourself stranded or lost and you can't find your way out of that situation without someone else's help. For example, getting attention from people on a boat going down the river through the jungle/woods while you're lost in it somewhere. They're far enough so they can't hear you yelling, but the high pitch sound of the whistle cannot be as easily drowned out by the noise of engines or waterfalls or waves crashing into rocks, as human voice can. Also, should you ever get truly lost or suffer an accident and you're unable to shout for help loud or long enough, and people know you're lost and are looking for you, a whistle can attract the attention of rescue dogs very easily because they can hear it from a long way away (a lot better than humans can, that's for sure). Yes, it's a very specific kind of survival tool that works in very specific types of situations that you don't want to find yourself in, but it can mean the difference between life and death so you should not knock it (yes, I'm being serious now). Ever heard of the guy who got trapped by a rock in the canyons of Moab, Utah? Had he had a whistle, maybe someone passing nearby with a dog would actually find him. Instead, he had to cut his arm off to survive. It's a true real life story and his name is Aron Ralston (he's still alive to my knowledge). A Hollywood movie called "127 Hours" was made about his ordeal and it features James Franco, Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara. A pretty good movie in my opinion, very dramatic at times and you can feel his anguish and fear as he contemplates the option of dying in that narrow and dark canyon because he can't free himself. You can also find his story here on KZbin, search for "story of Aron Ralston". Another movie was also made about a similar type of situation (and I'm sure many others but I can't remember them off the top of my head), though it is not based on real life events like 127 Hours. A young woman surfer is trapped on a rock some 200 yards from the beach and a great white shark is praying on her nearby. I won't spoil it though, I'll just say that it's very realistic in the beginning and if she had a whistle to signal to the 2 guys on the beach (surfers that were leaving) that she was in trouble, her entire ordeal would have been avoided. It's called "The Shallows" and it features Blake Lively (not really known for big roles or acting prowess, but she was actually pretty good in this movie).

It's definitely not weird or uncommon to wear the big part of the bracelet on top of your wrist. I do the same and I always point the whistle inward towards my body so in the rare event that I were to fall and really injure myself it would be easier to blow if I couldn't remove it from my wrist and, I was trying to alert someone of my location. Yes, I know that I'm probably overthinking things lol but that's just how my brain works 🤦🏾♂️😂

I got the version with the watch. That striker and fire steel is crap. I've made a few fires with fire steels. I dont see it lighting anything other than those premade fire tablets. Vs a good fire steel can easily light feather sticks. And my temperature gauge doesnt work. The compass is affected by the striker while connected. So to get a correct you will have to un snap it and get the striker away from the compass. This is a good idea but could've been done much better. But for 10$ I'm not complaining. But dont plan on wearing it and depending on it. I EDC a swiss army knife with a good fire steel tied to it

This design is bad. The paracord would take forever to untie if you actually needed it, and it won't yield terribly much to work with. A quick release style of braid is more suited for a survival bracelet as many quick release braids are designed to release quickly (obviously), and contain much more cord in the braid.
