Nice base. Your playstyle seems very well organized and thought out. I didn't notice if there were drekos or not on the map. Drekos can save you a ton of power for plastic and if you get them early game, by time you are ready for tubes, you will have plenty of plastic to boot. I used the Rodreguez (sp) for a while then was watching Luma Plays and saw the over-pressure method for electrolizers, tried it and have never looked back.

You are absolutely right! I should have gone more for critter farms overall.😉The dreckos farm would be a great addition to the base. But I must admit that the plastic is not that annoying since polymer press does not require a dupe to operate. For me, the most annoying material is always steel, since it takes a lot of time to make and usually you need quite a factory and some spare dupes to operate that to maintain a good amount of it. Not to mention the heat that a metal refinery generates and the overall cost of bunker doors and tiles.😵‍💫 Anyway, thanks for your advice and the kind words! I truly appreciate it! Much love!❤❤❤❤

This game is next level.. I'd love to see a first person version of it though, like Satisfactory, and with multiplayer. You and 3 friends start out in a small confined space and have to dig your way through the asteroid and build all this stuff to survive. There's some other games are similar to this but I want this exact game in that style, it's too good. The engineering aspects are second to none.
@Sleeplessx

Yeah, it would be fun for sure!😄ONI already has a potential for a multiplayer mode, especially with the spaced out dlc, but sadly, I doubt that it will ever happen. 😔

@@Sleeplessx yeah the existing game would be great for it. They could have it where your friends who join can control an individual duplicant, and maybe give them proper movement control with the WASD keys. These duplicants controlled by players do not automatically run errands that the host is giving, they are under total control of the individual player. The host gives out work order errands and the other players controlling their duplicants try to coordinate quickly and efficiently. It would take longer as responses are not immediate from real players, but it would be fun as hell. And even the multiplayer concept of linking up your asteroid to theirs that they are building on, sharing resources and such would be interesting too. Sim City has that.
@Sleeplessx

@@shatteringthematrix6959 Even the simple multi that will allow people to control different groups of dups and colonising different asteroids using standard mechanics and gameplay principals would be nice. There were already a lot of requests for multiplayer for oxygen. The developers say that they are very aware of those requests but the request has been there for a long time and, as far as I know, there are no plans for any kind of online/co-op.😑 The only hope is for some kind of mod that will allow at least co-op gameplay.
@shatteringthematrix6959

@@Sleeplessx reminds me of the Subnautica devs. They got thousands of multiplayer requests, they denied it, and just made another Subnautica game that has no multiplayer, which was not even as good as the first Subnautica. Quite a bad move imo. If they released a Subnautica multiplayer DLC or something, it would sell like hot cakes.. And I know there's a mod for it in that game but it's not ideal and buggy. Oxygen devs should capitalize on this opportunity imo, either for this game or a sequel.
@Sleeplessx

@@shatteringthematrix6959 I doubt Klei will go that way and release Oxygen Not Included 2. They could just make a standalone multiplayer expansion like they did with Don't Starve Together, but they did it after 3 years since the release of a standard game and oxygen was officially released in 2017 and has been on steam since 2015. Maybe they were more focused on the Spaced Out DLC. Well, I'm not an expert, maybe it is a lot more difficult to implement such a mode for ONI, but there still might be a small chance for it since they did it with Don't Starve.

I remember the first time I played the game. I butchered every critter for food, then built a giant complex base fueled by coal and hydrogen. When those ran out I went for gas and oil. At one point I got sleepy and so I decided to let the game running. That was a terrible mistake. When I woke up of the 8 dupes 7 had died and the last survivor was crying, all air was red, there was no power, no food, the entire base was a giant oven, all water was polluted, there was piss everywhere and all the machinery was either out of resources or had broken down. I decided to summon the guy waiting at the portal and declared red alert. The poor bastard worked for 4 days and nights, running from place to place (or in the hamster wheel) fixing everything possible. On day 2 of his arrival the last guy sort of recovered enough to start making some mush bars. On day 5 the new guy finally collapsed from exaustion, but the colony was saved. Things continued to be hectic for a while but the colony was saved. And then I ran out of several key materials before I got to the rocket part and everything went to hell. The last survivor was the one tha saved the colony, who suffocated to death while crying in the same corner the original last survivor was. All are dead in Bumbletown, except the morbs, they were having a blast.

This game can deliver some amazing stories. It doesn't matte if you are a pro and you are just fooling around or that the game is just harsh for new players. With a good narrative like yours, the stories are always entertaining. I really enjoyed reading about your first experience with ONI! And that morbs ending! @@Sleeplessx Thanks. I like sharing tales of Simulation games. It's quite amusing. For instance, in an early version of Worldbox there were no ranged weapons, no diplomacy (so cities could not be captured) and all members of a civ counted as militia, meaning the only way to expand when your civ clashed with another was a total melee war of extermination. In one such world, I set up 15 kingdoms with all landmasses being conected. One decent-size island had a civ by the name "The Ugev", which was setup in one of two main chokepoints of the world, thus it was surrounded by 4 other civs. By the year 1500 only 5 civs remained: The Ugev, The Swords of Amal, The Arrows of Ethel'elore, The Tog-zek and The Blood Axe Clan. The Orc clans of Tog zek and the Blood Axe clan were at war for centuries, with the Blood axes also fending off attacks from the swords of amal. The Arrows endured 2 millenia of grueling conflict until they were crushed by The Swords. By the millenium 12 only 3 remained, the Togzek and The Swords, who rose to be the two superpowers. And The Ugev, which had been besieged by all the other 4 at one point of another, and before that by the early lost kingdoms. The Ugev were on the way yet never waivered. They never were allowed to expand beyond their initial territories, but their defensive line held. Eventually the southern land bridge, the only path besides Ugev territory that connected the two continents, was conquered by the Swords, who pushed into Togzek capital, and from there eventually destroyed it. Year 540, Millenium 22, The Ugev finally falls, despite being one of the smaller powers ever since it's foundation on Year 1, it held the line against other humans, against the inmortal elves, the powerful orcs and the stout dwarves. In honor of their defiance, the new city The Swords of Amal built on the ruins of their final foe was named "Ugeviya".

@@ismaelsantos5378 Good story, again! I have not played Worldbox just yet, so I can't really chat about it like I do about ONI, but it sounds like quite a fun game! @@Sleeplessx The good thing about worldbox is that it requires practically no interaction from the player whatsoever. You are the god and you can interact if you choose. As for storytelling your games, a good way is to try to explain what you have, what happened from start to the current or the end. Introduce your dupes as characters. The game already gives you some descriptions as well. "So these 3 dupes emerged from the portal in the middle of an asteroid, their names are Helen, Peter and Bolonio. Helen is the heart of the team, and a good artist. Peter is a no-nonsense hardworking pragmatist and Bolonio is... Bolonio. He walks a the very thin line between 'absent minded genius' and 'shoelace-eating lunatic'. The rock they got stuck in was full of water, according to their scanners, but most of it was polluted and full of wierd one-eyed fish. And so begins the tale of these poor saps as they carve themselves a new home, or their own graves" For the Worldbox story I shared, I left the game run on it's own while I was asleep or at work, so whenever I returned I saw the world changed and had to infer what happened by comparing what was the world like before; or go trough the logs, then sumarize the events because I couldn't cover every event (for example, the game tracks in the log when a King dies, but a new king is chosen as soon as the previous one dies, so during a particularly nasty battle you might change kings like ten times because they keep dying). Another thing you might try with your friends are "Succession Games" in which you take turns leading the colony. Say you draw turn 1, and you have 5 cycles to run the game. Once the 5th night arrives, you save and pass the save to the next player in line, without telling him exactly what you did or what you were planning to do, so effectively the next player comes in blind. If you need a reference, here's one of the most (in)famous Succession Games ever made: Boatmurdered (done in the game Dwarf Fortress): kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYupZmx6oNBqack
@Sleeplessx
@Sleeplessx Жыл бұрын
@@ismaelsantos5378 Oh yeah, I think I stumbled upon Boatmurdered when I was playing Dwarf Fortress, but that was quite a long time ago. Ngl I kinda wanna try the new steam release just to refresh some memories with it and see how it has changed over the years. It does sound like a fun idea to take turns with friends managing the same colony. Maybe I will try it in the future. So the Worldbox is kinda like those "idle" games where you just let the game do its thing and watch the results. Those can be quite enjoyable too, especially when they have a good graphic style and some quality background music. Still think I'll give it a go someday, but sadly, I don't have that much time to play that I used to have. Thanks for all the suggestions and tips! I'm sure I'll make some use of them in the near future! 😄

I have a question, as my bases always bottleneck quite heavily under steel production. Is your main lime source egg shells from all the hatch ranches? BTW, lovely video, I've watched it more than a dozen times now.
@Sleeplessx
@Sleeplessx Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I appreciate that.😁 As for your question about lime. I usually rely on a mix of egg shells and the fossils that I excavate from the bottom oil biome. Of course, it depends on how big your factory is, but normally the combination of processing egg shells and fossils should get you to late-game. After that, if you run out of fossils, your only option is to increase the number of critter farms. Additionally, I can tell you that the pacu and pokeshell farms are the best for lime production.
@Kellerw2000
@Kellerw2000 Жыл бұрын
@@Sleeplessx I've typically done a starvation pacu ranch, but watching your base I realized you were making more and more hatch farms as you go. The one pacu ranch has a good surplus of egg, but when I'm out I'm out. I like to bunker the whole map, and get rather ambitious with my builds, so I'm always running out. I suppose next time around I'll try scaling my hatches harder, or maybe a faster scaling pacu farm. As opposed to my usual method, which is to just wait ages while finding something else for the dupes to do.
@Sleeplessx
@Sleeplessx Жыл бұрын
Yup, increasing the number of farms is the only way at later stages, especially when you expand the base rapidly. Overall, pacu ranching is a great way of farming shells. You can try pokeshells too, since the small one gives you 5kg of lime but the fully grown one can give you 10kg.@@Kellerw2000

Cool gameplay! Never got to the petroleum part, I'm still new to the game 😢 can I ask why do you leave a puddle of water at the entrance to new biomes?
@Sleeplessx
@Sleeplessx Жыл бұрын
Well, it depends, but overall it works like an airlock that prevents gases moving from one place to another. I don't put that in every new biome, but rather in places where I don't want the gases to spread. It is the best way to separate areas. For example, I put the liquid airlock on the entrance to the main base part when I'm going to the new biome because right next to my base is a slime biome and I don't want to see my clear oxygen getting mixed up with polluted one that will have slimelung germs. Eventually, I put the atmo suits near the entrance to that part, but that part is still the one where Duplicants walk around without the suits (bedrooms, mess hall, kitchen). Another example is where you want to create a large gas storage area like I did at 13:35. You need the liquid lock to pump out all the gases to create a vacuum for that storage. Otherwise, the natural gas would mix with chlorine, polluted oxygen, hydrogen etc., and that would keep breaking my natural gas generators, since when the other element gets in to the generator, that generator takes damage. You can also treat it as a thermal insulator since it prevents the heated up gases escaping to another area. That's why I use it in my factory part. Sorry for the late reply but I was away. I hope my explanation helps and don't worry about being new to the game. It is a bit overwhelming, especially for new players, but you will get the hang of it after a few games. 😄

Why did you put water in the base output for other biomes?
@Sleeplessx
@Sleeplessx Жыл бұрын
Are you asking about polluted water output? If so, then I pump out the polluted water because that water is only used to create oxygen and nothing else and it was more time efficient than pumping the polluted water into the base, from quite a big pool that was created by digging up the slime biome. For clean water, I just used the desalinator since there is a ton of salt water on this map. I don't reuse the polluted water for toilets and sinks, because even after cleaning it with a water sieve, it quite often still contains food poisoning germs which do not matter when it is in the air produced by the oxygen farm. 😉

@@deadeyes5900 Well, I did not put water there. I'm simply separating the area by creating those tiles. Since I was planning on digging straight up, I didn't want the salt water to mix with polluted water in the lower part of the base, so I redirected it to my salt water reservoir on the left part of the map. The water that appears there comes from digging up those salt water pools. There is also a point where the clear water appears, but that's also because I had to dig through the water geyser area and ice biome.

how his electrolyzer set up does not overheat?
@Sleeplessx
@Sleeplessx Жыл бұрын
Why should it overheat? The oxygen produced by the electrolyzer has a temperature of around 70 °C, so the overall temperature in that section never goes above 71 °C. The electrolyzer's and pumps are made out of gold amalgam so they need 125 °C to start overheating.🥵The top section where the hydrogen generators are is the one that can overheat, but since the generators are not working all the time and they turn on when the battery sends the signal, the temperature is always between 82,5-83,5 °C. You can put some additional cooling in that section, but it was not necessary for me. 😉

@@Sleeplessx and cools the oxygen with thermo regulator before it goes to the base? because 70 C its kinda hot for the dups, isnt?
@Sleeplessx
@Sleeplessx Жыл бұрын
@@victoriamiranda324 The cooling loop goes through almost all the base, so I didn't bother with cooling the oxygen separately, since when it goes through the vent it is almost immediately cooled down. Now, the gas pipes are insulated so the excess oxygen does not overheat the area when there is enough in the room already. When the oxygen from the electrolyzer mixes up with the oxygen that is already in the base, it takes a very long time for the temperature to rise to such a level that the dups will start complaining, so you have quite a lot of time to build a cooling loop. Additionally, if you have an ice biome nearby, you can loop some radiant gas pipes through it to cool down the oxygen in the early stages of the game. 😉

How did you deal with slimelung ?
@Sleeplessx
@Sleeplessx Жыл бұрын
When you start digging up the slime biome, go for a polluted water area first and build a few containers underwater. Set the priority to high and set it to store only slime. As I dig up the area, I clear the polluted oxygen with a lot of deodorizers. You will get slimelung anyway when you start digging, but that's not a big problem as it will eventually go away if you store the slime underwater, which will prevent further slimelung germ spreading. The germs that are already in the air will gradually die as well. 😉

@@Jensenrobinb I mean not every reply, but I use it to add a bit of positivity to my reply and I don't want to sound like replying to the comments is boring me because it doesn't and using something like this 🤬 would be kinda inappropriate in my opinion.

Isnt an Oceania world one the easiest? as you have insane amounts of water to make oxygen etc? 555 days is not very long in my opinion ive seen many games go on for 1000's and even got to 2k myself many times.

What is your point? I could get to the 2k myself, but just why? Of course, it is easy for people who know the game well and spend a lot of time in it. The point of the video is to give people something that they will enjoy watching, not to show off how good I am at this game. The idea was to make a timelapse for every asteroid and, as the asteroids get more difficult, increase the amount of cycles (365 on Terra, 555 on Oceania and so on). But I don't have that much time for KZbin because of the normal job, so for now I have ended up on 555 cycles on oceania.
