For me they went wrong with both of Charlotte's love interests, they never felt like "Austen heroes" to me. But with Declan they hit the mark for "Austen hero" in my humble opinion. He was brooding, he was also pining for Alison and he was secretly a softie. His relationship with Alison was everything. I watched every episode of season 2 waiting for their scenes and they were always perfect! ♥♥

Yes - all this and there was a spark between them. They teased each other and talked and got to know each other. I loved their scenes together. I hope we get more in season 3.

@@susivarga7303 Well, that's a bit 😢 frankly. I was not really taken with the Colbourne story TBH. It felt a bit forced. I'd much rather see more of the Frazers.

@@cbw5671 Yes, I know. Colbourne was a weak Rochester and Darcy mixture, Lennox was our resident villain Wickham, Fraser a Cyrano without the nose. It was a good storyline but a bit too rushed. My concern about S3 is that they will sacrifice poor Ralph in the last episode to give the heroine her happy ending.

@@susivarga7303 Agree. Far too rushed. 8 episodes would have been better. The Colbourne/Charlotte romance was underwritten & didn't feel real to me. Whereas the Alison/Declan one did. I don't really see what Charlotte sees in Colbourne particularly, especially how badly he has treated her throughout and there was not enough time to see her change her mind. Plus - and I know this will sound like heresy - someone as wounded as Colbourne would not I think have rushed to kiss her twice in the way that he did. The characters deserve a slower and more subtle development. It would be more emotionally and dramatically satisfying.

PBS Masterpiece Passport. It will cost you $5 a month but will show you 1 and 2 seasons and catch you up. We start S3 in March. I know you can stream it on other Apps but I'm 74 and don't do that. You can watch many other good shows on passport also. Don't think you'll be disappointed.
