The F-4E deleted the powered wingtip folding mechanism from the previous variants. The wingtips could be folded manually by ground crew, but in practice this was almost never done (at least in USAF service, I don't know if the JASDF did it more often.) This is a great museum, well laid out and brightly lit so it so very friendly to photography. It is quite a haul from Tokyo though, so I've only been there once.

ALso there were 3 F-4Es retired in 2021 at Gifu. The Last 3 not the Last One. Only one of them was the Super Interceptor F-4EJ Kai. Its almost impossible to tell the difference from the Outside. Also that T-1 TRainer looks alot like a heavy modified F-86 Sabre with an Intake like a Mig-19^^ Its domestically produced yeah but with the Help of US Know How, thats why it looks like a F-86 Sabre and used a British Engine in the T-1A. This here could be a T-1B Model.
As usual, even the aviation museums are immaculate in Japan, even the outsides and inside of displays external to the museum, put American not so equivalents to shame!
