#56 Journey to Laitlum Meghalaya | Experience Nature's Majesty | The Cruising Miles in Meghalaya

In this video , we are travelling to Laitlum , Meghalaya ( the grand canyon of Shillong). We had heard about this place a lot but never happened to visit the place. So this time we made sure we don't miss the opportunity. Laitlum , which means "end of hills" is a very beautiful spot which is around 5 hrs drive from Guwahati. We started our ride early in the morning and thank God we did. As we entered Meghalaya through Jorabat , we were surrounded by mist and riding through it was an awesome experience. However we had some difficulty in find a good place for breakfast as it was too early in the morning. Finally , we stopped for chai and some quick snack in a local tapri shop and we could not be any more energised. An hour later, we had a filling breakfast at the Orchid resort in Umiam. We continued our journey and after a few wrong turns and trying hard to find the right way , we finally reached our destination.
The first sight of Laitlum was something we could never forget. The mesmerizing landscape where our eyes deep dived into the canyon left an everlasting mark in our minds. This is truely natures majesty. Both of us parked our bike and sat on the "end of the hills" and spent atleast an hour. Our early arrival meant that there were minimum people around, we felt we truely found serenity.
After Laitlum, we made our way towards our homestay which we booked through Airbnb. It was a very cosy stay and the care taker made sure we had a seamless check in. After freshening up, we wanted to try some local khasi cuisine and an hour later we found ourselves relishing some delicious Jadoh in the police bazar. Our bellies were full and we desperately wanted some sleep. We went back to our homestay and slept until there was no sun in the sky. Finally we pushed ourselves out of the bed and made our way to a nearby bakery for coffee and snacks. We packed our dinner , and resorted back to our rooms to call it a day.
It was an eventful day for both of us where we had an awesome ride , visited one of the most beautiful canyon we had ever seen, enjoyed some local cuisine and also spent some quality time with each other. We would definitely urge you to please come and visit Laitlum on your North East trip and take back some fond memories.
