I always run the winter filters on my 550’s and 562, really noticable also they filter just fine.

Great videos, thanks for sharing. In my experience the 562 filter is too small, especially on a ported one. Very noticeable difference after installing red beard foam filter on my 562, especially later in the day after cutting several hours.

Goes to show how such a small change can make a difference. 2 smokes are tempermental creatures 👍🏻, thats a damn good running saw buddy.

Pretty big difference! For a race, sure, swap to the winter filter👍🏻 for a work saw or firewood duty saw tho, I'd personally prefer the standard filter😁

My thoughts on the modifications to pistons is hopefully you can use aftermarket pistons that will still be available down the road, but that's not always possible in today's world, so might as well not worry about it. And as long as you have good notes on what you have done to the piston for that saw, then I see no reason to worry because you could probably get the replacement piston modded to match up without too much trouble. The same goes for mods to an OEM piston, just keep good notes and do the same to the replacement. But I also get the reason why leaving pistons alone for some makes sense. That saw is pretty darn awesome, BTW.

Wouldn’t the winter filter be lower flow? The cold dense air requires bigger jets to avoid leaning out on every two stroke I have tuned. If you aren’t adding more fuel you need less air volume to maintain your a/f ratio.

The winter filters flow more because they are mesh instead of felt.When the temperature changes 20-30 degrees it does require carburetor tuning , colder weather richer tuning. No jet changes needed .

Would it be worth putting an air horn and uni filter setup?
@novicelumberjack6 ай бұрын
NO! Do not cut holes into the cover of a 5 series saw. They have a positive pressure and you would lose power.

@@novicelumberjack like a little blower setup from the flywheel pushing air?
Have you ever seen the coarse filters they had on the old saws? Lots basically had window screen for filter and ran a long time on crap oil by today’s standards. I know lots of people that just run the mesh winter filters.
