Looks like it’s all going great James, with the trim , if you use small copper brads,pre drill the holes, so the sappele doesn’t split, then use a Brad punch to set them just below the surface, then fill the nail heads the trim will stay put, good luck.

James, I just bought some tickets to help you out. I live in the US so I don’t know what I would do with a Narrowboat in the UK….but who knows. I love the cupboard with the leather like material. Always looks classy on the Fiberglass cruisers that are the norm here. Leaving Sloe Patrol I am sure will be bittersweet, but your new boat will be just right for you and your children. This new boat is going to be all your visions come to fruition. Fingers crossed that the Raffal helps you meet the needs for completing your work, and as someone else mentioned, get going on a bathroom and usable kitchen for yourself and the children. Great job. You will need to protect the side facing the window while you continue to work on the boat. Maybe a sheet of 9mm ply or some cardboard. It'd be a shame to damage the leatherette.

A brad/nail gun makes fixing so much easier,like a third hand,James should have invested in one ages ago,plenty are battery powered aswell 👍

James, you could put leatherette piping on the vertical seam of the cupboards, it would fill the gap and look nice too - you could make it in the contrasting colour or matching. Very good job on the sapele trim! I would have trimmed the padding a bit at the edge so there's only leatherette between the trim and plywood, that way it would sink a little between the two pieces of leatherette and protrude less. I would use a nail gun to install it.

You made the right decision on the trim , much easier to keep it matching with the rest of the boat otherwise too many different colours.

Here's a thought for the trim on the leatherette-covered pieces: some cord that looks like rope would look very nautical. Or, even rope... I like the dark wood trim.

Hi James. Instead of the plank of wood to stop little ones from falling out of their bunk how about a proper bed guard. Argos and similar places sell them. They are held in place by the mattress when needed.

Have you considered making some leatherette piping for the long vertical seam? It's what you would use on upholstery, or on classic cars such as Morris Minor or VW Beetle where the wings join the bodywork. Looking forward to the raffle.

I like the work you are doing but my personal preference would have been more wood. You have done steller job with that. The leatherette I worry about damage and once its ripped or you want to hang anything its kind of not great. Looks nice though and love the channel.
