Hi Mike and Melissa Mike don’t let critical comments get you down or defensive . You know what works for you with your time, tasks and family responsibilities. Couple suggestions if you don’t mind : The Bulldog electric tongue lift 4,000 lbs , i have one on all my heavy trailers ( including my Belmont dump) connects to your trailer battery The trailer ball attachment that goes on your different RK forks ( slides on end ), allows you move trailers easily and park on a dime Yes, not having PT walls above your Dump trailer has advantages . But with , More capacity, less chance of falling out, can be removed Liability from anything falling out ( following cars ) see your #569 as you drove for delivery I see your Seasoning cut wood in their pallet / caged bundles ( near deer feeder ) use the tractor forks , would long enough forks past the other side with a hole drilled in ( allowing a drop pin in each ) allow you to lift full container and dump while using RK 55 over dump trailer walls for customer delivery , saving much hand labor , I use my Wacker Nuasan WL-30 loader with Skid steer attachment 2yd dumpster in a similar way , I posted some pics on my FB page Many PD’s and Pa Troopers ( land fills ) require tarps covering loads ( especially stone ) I’m sure you know I use loose with bungees , but yours seems to have the framework in front ( I’m sure it isn’t cheap though) Again all suggestions given with a smile ( not a criticam ) All the best and really enjoy your segments , Hope you noticed Melissa (i spelled your name correctly ) LOL Liked Mike’s comment about Melissa , in #569 , Happy Wife , Happy Life

So it seems like everyone wants to come up with ideas on how to help you do things better, which is good, folks care about you and want to help. Sometimes acquaintances are watching what I do and try to help (usually doing something rather less than helpful ) and I like to think to myself, "Helping hands, helping hands". Most folks want to help and lend a hand, some folks are helpful. I'm just glad that you have a system that works and I take great pleasure in watching you get things done. And I am most pleased as how Melissa is so "with it" in terms of knowing what and how to do things and how well you folks work as a team. Great videos, thumbs up.

I like your video replies to comments. Things aren't always as they appear. I was going to suggest just backing up the trailer to the pile but I have done that before. So, much less effort to stack into the bucket that you place at just the right height, you don't have to throw it like you would if loading directly to the trailer. less range of motion and effort. you are still only loading it once... into the bucket. can't wait to see the firewood bucket in action.

Hey Mike I worked with fire wood for years just a thought if you bring your rounds to the splitter and elevator if you would pile the wood to the top of the elevator and then pull the unit forward like your making a continuous pile and then leave it sit for a year then figure out how much your biggest bucket holds stack example 1/4 cord 4 buckets 1 cord dump it on the trailer and you cut some handling out and the wood dries just fine on a big loose pile it's hard to make money on fire wood but any time you can cut out handling it helps Love your vids John Montville Pa

Mike even with a firewood bucked although better than our regular bucket still not the same as loading it in by hand for effectiveness. Hi Mike, I agree with you 100% about using the loader to load up the trailer. It just doesn't work. One other thing you forgot to mention is the damage to the area that the tractor makes in trying to move into the pile. Loading by hand can go pretty quick if the trailer is close to the pile. What you need is a second dump trailer and then you can alternate putting them under the conveyor!!! :-)
@snymat_685 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, You gave me an idea for another project (as if you don't have enough already). The trail the heads down to the pond, at the start of it, where you have that grass bank that you have to weed wack... Cut the trail a little lower there and build a retaining wall in place of the bank. Then move the splitter and conveyor over there so the firewood pile ends up just on the top side of the retaining wall. Then you can back the trailer down below the wall and push firewood into it. You'd have your very own loading dock of sorts. If you poured a concrete slab where the pile would go you wouldn't have to worry about gravel.

Mike, I've been following your channel for about a year now. I'm like many others and enjoy getting to watch a Morgan video. I agree with many on here, you keep being you and keep on keeping on brother. I think many on here have never used a tractor and far less have used a grappel on a tractor. I would think to save a few minutes wouldn't be worth the ware and tare on your equipment and also the cost of fuel. Not to mention like one gentleman said the damage your tires cause to the grass when driving over and over in the same spot. Give Hunter a big hello!! And can't wait to see him get to sell some quality wood that he's going to package. AWESOME idea :)

OR , if he had lengths of a species he don't want for burning, use that to make a 3 sided enclosure , stack 'em like making a log cabin. cut wood won't spread sideways and you can push against the back wall to load.

thats a better way to do it but you end up mixing in a lot of undesirable chips of wood and chunks of bark and that makes for a mess with "delivered" clean split hardwood and folks will complain.....and I find that seasoned wood stays wet longer after rain in concrete bins, so there are lots of "incidentals" to consider...... just sayin

Along with the firewood bucket, you may want to consider adding some precast concrete blocks to load against out of your bulk pile. They are very common around here (NE Ohio). Every bulk landscaping supplier has multiple bunkers (typically "U" shaped) all in a row. The concrete suppliers cast big blocks (2'x2'x4'?) with tongue and groove and rebar lifting points from surplus mix. You can buy the blocks for less than the retail cost of the concrete.

Not trying to be a wise guy but my thought especially with the narrow stack Melissa was loading was set bucket on ground angled up some next to stack & push it over into bucket, then top off & load remainder in bucket by hand & dump. Hadn't heard of a firewood bucket, looking forward to seeing it.

Thinking about your question, can the tractor be used to pick up shacked cords of firewood. What if your pallet forks were able to get under the 4x4’s you stack the firewood on. Then slowly raise the cord and slowly dumping the load into your dump trailer. I’m thinking using a strap around the top, bottom and sides of the wood to stabilize it might be needed. I realize that this plan would have to be incorporated when the wood is first stacked to allow space for the pallet forks under the 4x4’s and the strap might have to be placed before originally stack the wood, but it might be possible. I’ve not tried anything like this so please be careful.

About the only way I could see a grapple working is if you engineered a clamp attachment that could bolt to the teeth so that the wood won't spill out but I think a wood bucket would still be more efficient and if you can park next to the stack the loader by armstrong is still the best way because you can stack the wood to slide out easier

As i watched you try to get hold of the wood then came to me the idea that you should suggest to the company that make the graber to make the upper part of the graber to be switshing to the bucket like a thub it would work, that i think it would help to grab these pieces of woods and the bucket would prevent it from falling. It is just an idea, cause i do not have a tractor rather a lot like you have but i would love to be at your place. I live in Quebec Canada and french.But you are making so nice video that it is interesting and your choice of music fit with it nicely.

Just a question. Have you ever tried a 4 in 1 bucket? I would like to think it would do a pretty good job of loading fire wood.
@MattKochelJJInaJayco5 жыл бұрын
@@flash1259. I have a very large 4 in 1 bucket that I use but have never used it for fire wood. It just seems to me that with it open I could set it over a stack of fire wood and grab a large amount of it fairly easily. Just what would be your thoughts on this? My bucket is a 78" 4 in 1 that has an opening of 52" I believe.
@alkaufmann20395 жыл бұрын
Mike, obviously loading from a stack of firewood would involve placing the bucket perpindicular to stack and just below it so that you can push the firewood by hand into bucket. Not sure if it would save any time but it might help with back injuries.
@tbonemc21185 жыл бұрын
It'd be dumb having an argument over loading firewood. I totally agree pushing a bucket into a pile of firewood wouldn't work very well but then I just watched you use a tractor to load the trailer exactly as I would've done but probably didn't make it clear enough. Move each piece a few feet by hand. I cringe at the thought of heaving split timber around and the splinters you're going to get. When I delivered firewood I always had a wheel barrow tied on top. You lose some and you win some because some would be happy with a pile on the ground. Always had a good chat and the wheel barrow made moving it and stacking pretty easy. I was watching another video of a firewood outfit who threw in a free bag of kindling with every order which surprised many customers but this operator was clever because many of them would buy extra bags he just happened to have on the truck. There's more than one way to skin a cat.
@earlhollar19065 жыл бұрын
I noticed on your drive over to deliver the firewood, if you live in the state of Pennsylvania you need to be a very patient driver. Your secondary roads are pretty much double yellows. On a different note, if you have a close neighbor that needs a trailer load of wood if you would ( make ) let Melissa deliver it, I think that would really make her day. Quick question, how much of a cord of wood is in one of your pallet baskets?
@Dagwood4845 жыл бұрын
