Thanks so much for posting this. I was there on the field that day as a young E4. Both General Haddock and General Bean were great CGs - I'm proud to have served with both.

I just came across this video! I was in D- Btry 2/9 FA, at Hardt Kaserne. I was there from January 85 until October 1986. I remember General Haddock! My Battery Commander was Major Troy Taylor, who unfortunately passed away during a PT run a few months after I left.

Jeremy Haddock, you are very welcome! I had my own video camera and was enjoying using it in Germany. When the change of Command was scheduled, I asked our 1st SGT if it would be ok for me to video tape the event, he said yes, and that's how this video came to be. Took several years before I pulled it out and transfered it to DVD and KZbin!

Hi Brian! Thank you so much for sharing! I feel like i was there. It is a great document of time. Maybe you read it further up, i am writing a novel and i have a character, a pleasent soldier who served in Gmünd. I would like to make him more realistic, so would you like to give me a little interview? You can remain anonymous. The questions are easy like: Your nicest memory? My email-adress is jessycuore@yahoo.de, if you send me an e-mail i can send you the survey. It would be so great! Thank You!

This is awesome! Raymond E. Haddock is my grandfather and it's super cool that you posted this video. Im truly thankful. Its insane to see him back in his military days, and I, as well as the rest of my family, are filled with pride whenever we watch this. Thank you so much.

I was stationed there in the public affairs office from 1985 to 1988. I guarded Gen. Haddock's house a lot, plus he was in our office a lot since he was just a couple of doors down. I remember coming to attention when he came into the office while I was standing on a chair filing. I'm short. ;) I miss my friends from those days. I miss Germany too, Fasching, the town, etc.

Roger K. Bean was one of the finest officers I had the honor to serve under at 3d DIVARTY, Kitzingen, FRG, 1983-84. He was an officer of character, integrity, and compassion. He was the only Field Artillery officer I ever met or served with that treated his subordinates with respect and as part of a team. A true professional in every sense of the word! Unfortunately, he passed away in 2009. BTW: When you read LTG Moore's book, "We Were Soldiers Once", Roger Bean was one of the pilots who brought him and his troops in on LZ X-Ray.
