A scout party of the Death Guard was sent to study the defences and possible ways to spread diseases in an Imperial city on planet Hesperia. An Astra detachment has been tasked with intercepting Death Guard scouts near the city of Therivy.

I'm in love with the combat patrol format. I'm extremely new to this hobby (just painted my third astra militarum infantry!) and the flow of these smaller games is far easier to follow and well-edited. I don't feel like watching 2 (very nice, friendly people) talk for 2hrs in a 3000pt game that I just can't relate to. But I bought the astra's combat patrol box, so I can see myself playing a game like this - one day, once i have them all painted!

Just an FYI, they errata'd the stratagems that reduce damage by 1 to say they can't reduce it to 0! Other than that, great game!

Great battle report. Proved that the Death Guard in 10th, while durable, are far from Unkillable. I definitely miss being able to run 500 pt games natively in 40K. The Combat Patrol game mode, while a valiant effort, just isn't the same. You don't have the freedom to choose your units, which is a big problem for folks who started their army piecemeal. And the Combat Patrol boxes themselves are wildly inconsistent in quality. Plus, the absence of the Leman Russ for Guard is simply inexcusable.

to be honest I really don't think the astra was too underpowered in this game, the death guard just rolled high a lot on their saves and ignored a huge amount of wounds. Given the 5 up save of the pox walkers that means that on average 1/3 of the wounds should be ignored, but I feel like they ignored half the wounds if not more. They weren't unkillable but were unusually resilient this game.

also, there is a small mistake, disgustingly resilient can only go to a minimum of one. I don't blame you for it, you can find it in the designer commentary, so it's hard to find it.

10:39 no kill like overkill for the unkillable 17:47 I'm not quite familiar with the rules but I'm sure you can't reduce damage to 0 (minimal 1) 18:52 careful when you tempting fate, it might tip the balance to laugh at you 23:13 I believe this is already errata-ed for insane brave should be use before battleshock instead of after failed battleshock 27:50 Deathguard counterattack 30:58 defeat after defeat the seasonal jobber finally rise for victory

It seems GW did an errata to correct that, because before the errata there was no indication about it, so we weren't sure :V

@@TabletopWarbands there is a Rules Commentary in the downloads section of the Warhammer Community which has loads of advanced rules and clarifications, its a lot to take in but definitely worth going through it slowly. The rule about modifying characteristics below 1 is on page 17.

I don't see any reason to pick Methodical Destruction for guard's secondary objectives. Hold the line gives you easy 10 points for early games (This secondary can achieve even at 1st battle round.) and it is even more effective for such slow army like Death Guard. At 2nd battle round, it is the prime time to pop up Artillery Strike to slow down DG's movement and they cannot declare charges too. It is a bit too late to use it at round 3. Typhus has OC1 but Sentinel has OC 2. So, the commander should have moved back from the objective. A previous comment has said the Disgustingly Resilient cannot reduce damage from 1 to 0. On the other hand, you can split fire the rockets to other targets. @8:51, it is better to start shooting with rockets rather than infantries, because you can add 2 more attacks.
