i dont know which belt you achieved but against a purple belt or higher you can`t pass his guard like this! the dude in white GI have no body tension because it is a demonstration! try it (never) in real fight without rules
@Eudamonic10 жыл бұрын
Christian Primig Umm the demonstrator is a black belt who has pulled off these passes in live training and competition. I believe that counts for something?

This is easily the biggest flaw in my game, if I get caught in guard I usually concede defeat and just drop back hoping to pull guard. This video had a lot of very interesting techniques that I'll definitely be trying out.

These videos are the best. I thinks it's just so cool knowing some options and what they look like even if you don't have all the details. It's still fun pulling some of this stuff off sometimes and just knowing all the possibilities of jiujitsu. I use your guard options video if I need to show someone what bjj is.

I've always thought of it like blitz chess, but with negative incremental time i.e. the faster you play, the less time your opponent has. It's a game of mental agility. Of coming up with problems faster than your opponent can come up with solutions, and vice versa. ;)

Great video, lots and lots to study. One of my goto passes is the double under, and everyone I train with has learned to grab my belt the second I go for it. I'm looking forward to trying that variation you showed at 2:58, which looks like it might counter it...
@Schlain66610 жыл бұрын
Typical counter if someone goes for double under is (if ur on bottom) hook your feet inside their thighs, like butterfly hooks.

Excellent guard passing roadmap, Jason! im only blue belt and I know that a good guy will do whatever he can to deny you grips in the first place while trying to get his...I feel like the first man to secure his grips gets an early upper hand in whatever he intends to pull off. Nonetheless, variety is a great asset so if he blocks the first move, you can flawlessly switch to plan b,c,d..etc. Thanks for the great video and subscribed!
@youknowmeboy85458 жыл бұрын
Flanker After how long did you get your blue belt. I live in europe so the trainers and training is crap. I trained for about a year and still im absolute shit on the mat. Would love to learn and improve fast.

You Know Me Boy Im an expat living in Dubai, we have a good black belt Brazilian coach. I got my blue belt after about 2 years. what's wrong with your teachers mate?
@JasonVarela7137 жыл бұрын
You Know Me Boy Sometimes friend, repping for yourself is never enough, to get better you have to be around others who understand techniques better than you, in case you aren't invest some time doing passing reps where the guarder has to recover, you get to practice passing, and your partner learns how to respond in the event of getting passed. Sending some positive vibes from NYC!!

Yes, this seems to be the advise I've received from everyone who goes up against a larger opponent. Also, I was instructed to wait for them to try a move and use their momentum against them. I am now a blue belt and find it better to slow down. However, now that I am not muscling it through, it's harder to your my brain over my brawn. This is why I love BJJ, it's like a chess match!
