Really like your videos. Just the right amount of explanation of what's going on while you pick without any distractions or nonsense. Keep up the good work.

New sub, these videos are mesmerizing! Having a bit of engineering/technical background, I thoroughly enjoy the procedural commentary, calm demeanor, explanations, and remarkable locks and mechanisms that you detail. Absolutely well done!

+LockPickingLawyer You're quite welcome. The more I watch you and bosnianbill, the more I'm beginning to think I may take this up as a hobby, just to have some puzzles to solve, and to work on my dexterity. Not to mention that I imagine what the pins and drivers might look like as you both pick, this might just satisfy an itch I never knew I had.

Good ... angles, audio, & film quality. Interesting, value/quality lock, with excellent commentary, both technical and back story. Short video, with a good pick. LPL, I think, you ... ACED this video! Yes, more videos like this. (edit: Even the early comments were good reading!)

Thank you for sharing! Nice pins considering the source. I have a friend who runs a nearby Ace store. Looks like he might have access to several padlocks that are re-keyable. Getting a quote now!

I love those rekeyable Ace locks. They also have one in the same size as the American 5200. Gotta love how it's made out of steel and not aluminum and comes with pretty much American lock pins. I need to buy another one of these to replace the one I gave away some day 😂

I bought one of these locks and made a pin for that hole in the back of the core and it did convert it to key retaining. Nice added feature, it would be nice if it came with the pin though.
@fbw477 жыл бұрын
I noticed that like Schlage, the code that is stamped on the key is the actual bitting. At least you wouldn't need a code book like you do for Master and most other factory keys.

For what it's worth, a lot of the Brinks padlocks are made by a company called Hampton Products.

@Razzanrohr7 жыл бұрын
What is the serration for? And further more, what are the cylinders in 2 and 4 for?
@tuba70847 жыл бұрын
Alex, the spools in #2&4 are designed to allow the cylinder to turn a tiny bit and jam when picking. If you are not knowledgeable in lock picking it will keep the lock secure. You have to have really good tension tool control to pick spools quickly like the lockpicking lawyer. The spools can cause other pins that have been already set to drop as you try to push the bottom of the spool past the shear line to set as well. The serrated pins grab the shear line as you pick and are designed to make feeling the shear line difficult. Serrated pins seem to make over setting easier and can cause frustration when trying to pick. When you mix and match different security pins the harder the lock is to pick open.

How would that hole turn the lock into a key retaining lock?
@SukiAbazi7 жыл бұрын
Very nice pinning on that lock. Only if the bitting was a bit more difficult and some undercuts or serrations in the bible and it would have been a very decent padlock.

Hey I have been following you channel for a while and it's really amazing that you can pick so many different types of locks. I am just curious about if there is a type of lock that is truly impossible to pick? Maybe the electronic ones?

Sadly, my local ACE hardware store doesn't stock that model. Does the Brinks 527 core, and pins look the same as that ACE? It's probably a different core, but the pins could be similar.
