I loved this ! Speaking of molds. How full do you fill them to? There is a line if you will. On the inside. I went above that of course! I’m going to try to stay at that line for my next fill. Unless you say it needs to he full . I love these. I have the white square mold you used can’t wait to try these. On to my next video! The girls told me how to find the comment section ! Love them girls!

Hi Annette! So nice to see you here in the comments section! Thank you so much for supporting me on Patreon!! As my patron, your questions are automatically at the top of my to do list both here and on Patreon! 😄💕 Since I like to have the resin “lip” to facilitate a doming topcoat, I always try to stay about 2/3 of the way up in a mold if it’s a shallow one. The topcoat will make up the difference. The resin you use will also play a factor... if you use one that is more “bendy” when it comes out of the mold (less hard/rigid) you would be best to add more resin to the mold so that your piece is less likely to lose its level shape when it gets popped out of the mold. What you add to the resin also comes into play... liquids like alcohol ink, acrylic paints, etc. can make a resin “softer” once it cures in which case you’d want to fill the mold up a teenie bit more. Personally, I try never to fill a mold to the top unless I know I can get a really perfect top. If I can, then filling to the top can allow for a slight dome... but make sure the mold is really level so nothing spills over any edge. As I said in the video, I think filling to the top is often a waste of resin. That’s another reason I don’t and add a thin topcoat later. I hope that all made sense. Feel free to ask any clarifying questions. I’m here for you patron!! 😘😘💕💕😊

This is my first time watching any of your videos. I love your gentle voice and teaching style. I'm glad you showed the shape of those pendants. I have some molds shaped like that and I've always tried to "fix" the edges because I don't like the slant. I think I'm going to stop fussing with that part. I'll never forget my biggest takeaway from this... Resin lips are the enemy...Resin lips are the enemy...Resin lips are the enemy... LOL

I watch videos every day to the point that I have to stop & get things done around the house. I have to tell you I love this taping & have learned more about resin plus all of the information you have provided. I have been painting on canvas & doing shows for a few years now but never have I finished them off with the resin because I thought I liked the raw look until I did my first piece & was surprised at how much more the colors popped. So now I am trying to learn as much as I can about resin. Which I thought I had done a lot of research & bought 2 1 gallon casting resin but came across yesterday that I bought the wrong stuff to finish off my acrylic paintings. Found out why my edges after the cure were not covered & it is because I needed to know about a thicker resin & about doming! So I will go back to your previous videos & watch how you pour your molds. Thank you so much...sorry I went on & on however, I can use a thinner resin for silicone molds just not for my canvas pieces

ClearCast 7050 cures so hard that I actually sliced the heck out of my thumb when I ran it around the sharp edge of a round coaster. I'm not sure any other resin I've used would have made an edge so harrd and sharp. Great tuturial. I love your voice and your have beautiful hands!

Beautiful pieces and amazing lesson!! I am brand new to resin and I decided to add some onto my piece, and then I realized I will eventually need to sand down the edges because of the tape. You explained it in a way that was very easy to follow and I never even thought of using a top coat to fill in the lip, I thought I would have to sand it down completely. Amazing job, and thank you so much!

Thank you for this video! I just started the hobby over this past weekend! I mean, I'm still waiting for some products I ordered to arrive, such as a heating mat, which I thought may help things cure faster(?) with fewer bubbles. I'm trying to make a set of dominoes for each family we visit at Christmas. (7 sets total.) Our family is kind enough to overlook mistakes, so I'm using their gifts as an early learning curve to help me better understand the process. I also ordered a set of silicone molds to make a scrabble game for myself! So many tiles!! It's going to help me learn how this all works, and if I'm not sick of it by the time I finish all these projects, I'll have myself a nice little hobby and maybe some stuff to sell on the side.
