The C6 Z06 Corvette is one of the great used performance bargains on the market. Clean cars can be had in the $30,000-$40,000 range and offer huge amounts of speed with even more potential in the aftermarket.

A C6 Z06, I would hands down have it over any C7. In my eyes it just is the best Corvette ever: the looks, the sound and that mighty LS7.

+1 my thoughts exactly, except also throw some forced induction and cam in the c6 z06 also. The only thing that has to go ASAP is the wheels. The car looks probably 3x better with some aggressive aftermarket wheels

It was 7:42 in 2006 upon its release. Went down significantly in 2011-2013 with magnetic ride. 2006 held the record on the ring until the 2008 ACR. Then the 2009 ZR1 took the crown until the GTR beat it in 2010.

***** yeh I guess the c7 looks like a tryhard european sportscar. the interior is 10/10 though. and the performance... for the price... unless matt is right and it can't do it for to long, but then again which new sportscar can? c6 can definitely run several nurburgring laps which equals around 5-10 laps on a normal 1-2 min curcuit. would be a shame if the new one can't because I thought the Z28 and C7 are just about the only true enthusiast cars left which don't compromise, golddigg, bullshit, simulate, underachieve, disappoint, disregard predecessors heritage, and which don't deliver LESS performance than image. if the c7 isn't exactly that and the z28 only lives up to the dream due to tractor-wide tires I will continue my pessimism towards new cars.

Still one of my favorite cars all time. When this thing came out in 2006 everyone saw 123-128 mph traps in the quarter and were like WTF did they build. This , and the 2009 GTR were game changers especially for 70ish grand new back then.

Corvettes do get a lot of press over here, just no one buying them really. Most common new American cars with a V8 here, is Jeeps and the 300C which do look kind of baller if I do say so myself.

Went from 11.3best to 10.6 so far in 1 trip since setting the parameters to give me my 23 degrees of timing. Never got back ok the dyno but it's safe to say I'm making over 600 with 10 degrees more. But my cam is not mild by any means. People say all kinds of things with power. Trap speed at the track is the true test in my eyes.

Polled from my club members, dealerships and my own ownership. ZR runs like a champ wouldnt touch a C6Z06 because of the head issues unless you want to spend 3k and get them redone.

Amazing what 10 years waiting can do. I remember when the 2006 Brand New Z06 for the C6 Gen hit the Chevy Dealer Showrooms. My Uncle works at one, We went to visit him, and I saw the Most beautiful New Z06 in Black with the Chrome wheels, Black Tinted windows sitting on the showroom floor, and the Car was Unlocked so I jumped in. Fell in Love with the Leather seats, the 200MPH Speedometer, and the Shifter, But I was only 14 and I must say, It felt like an Impressive and Very Powerful car just sitting still. Especially with that New Car Smell having only 3.3 miles on the Odometer. The price tag was an expensive 80+ grand, and ever since that Moment I swore that someday, I would Own an exact black Z06. Maybe I wouldn't have the privilege of breaking it in to the double digit miles, but I could always have the engine rebuilt like new and the price tag would be cheaper as it aged and was considered a used car and the price dropped. But I still can't believe it's been 10 years since that, and The price has come down that much. From 80 grand plus Dealer Markup, down to 37 Grand for one with 50k on the clock. These are a great Bargain.

This video reminded me of my c6z and what a great car it is especially for the price! The car was surprisingly easy to drive on track and very neutral. The only gripe I had was the numb steering and the fact that you had to trust what the car was capable of vs feeling it out. Regardless I was able to set my personal best On my first track day out with the c6z with just pads/fluids and Michelin pss I'll consider buying it again as a track beater once they're in the mid 20's. Not to mention the consumables on this car are extremely cheap!!! Rotors-$60, raybestos st43 pads-$250 and 25 mpg on the way to track!!!

Upper Big T is a fantastic road for the Z06, big smooth open sweepers where you can load it up how it wants to, not have to deal with the more bumpy surface of the rest of Big T, and open that thing up on the straights. The fact you ran into traffic on it is astounding. I've been there when I went up and down it, parked for like 20 minutes, and didn't even see a single car. It's like a longer less convenient connecting road for most people.

Since then I've added an A&A Twin Turbo system, Callaway Cold Air Induction System, C6Z 1 7/8 American Racing Stainless Steel Headers, C6Z American Racing X-pipe with high flow cats, 02 Extensions, NGK Spark Plugs, MSD 8.5mm plug wires, C6Z3 Cam, Stage 3 LS7 Cylinder Heads with 2.200 Titanium intake valves and 1.61 stainless exhaust valves; Double valve springs good to .660 lift, Comp Pushrods, Port Intake Manifold, Complete Front Cover gasket set, ATI LS7 Underdrive Pulley, Gates Belt, LS7 Crank Bolt, ARP Head Bolts, GM Head Gaskets, LS Valve cover gaskets, LS7 160* Thermostat, C6Z Mild to Wild Exhaust Control, F.A.S.T. 102mm Intake Manifold, DSS axles, and an ALKY Control Meth system....I'm sure I forgot some stuff. The last dyno run was right around 900 RWHP & 895 RWTQ. This Z is a keeper for life, besides it keeps my 2015 Z06 company in the garage. Maybe I'll see you guys at a Cars & Coffee, I usually hit a few each month & then canyon runs. They'll both be at the Shift S3ctor Airstrip Attack as well. FYI: All work was done by Cunningham Motorsports of Murrieta, CA....The BEST hands down!

The tires comment reminds me of the Kappas... the Sky/Solstice. The OEM Goodyears absolutely sucked. I put on a set of Pilot Supersports and had an autocross-oriented alignment done. Different car. Dramatically better. Now it’s a total corner-carving sweetheart. C6 Z06 is still the performance bargain of the century. Likewise the Gen 5 Z/28, if you want a track-focused car. Carbon ceramic brakes and Multimatic dampers and whatnot. Designed to be flogged all day and just keep ticking. And now available in the low 40’s. I lust for an LS7. I just gotta have a real back seat... hence the SS sedan/Commodore in my profile pic. With family needs to consider, I may end up stuffing an LS7 in that once the warranty expires. Something about a normally-aspirated 427... it’s an irrational attachment, but hey, the passion aspect is part of being a car guy, right?

Great video! Love the reviews with the actual owners and their cars, so we can see which mod really works. But whatever you do, don't buy the Caravaggio seats! I bought them and it took almost a year to have them sent to me here in Brazil. Worst, the guy send them by freight and not by courier for what I paid and that was another major headache for another few months!

don´t get me wrong, this is the dream car of my childhood and I will own one one day. BUT: they are not the bargain you think they are. The LS7 has MONUMENTAL problems with the exhaust valves dropping. GM didn´t bother to work on that when they found out due to customers blowing up engines by valves dropping on the first cylinder! Almost every LS7 is out of spec on the exhaust valve guidance. So no Z06 without work done on the heads for me!

Canadian Grizzly put any performance-modded NSX with 350-400 hp against a stock/bolton c6 vette. nice match but they lighten NSX'es to 300kg less than a stock vette and the weight distribution, vtec powerband etc will be hard to beat. but just look at the prices. these cars are in a league of their own. if these guys continue making fast, reliable, trackable cars like that we can enjoy which ever we like and get along/compete. but if you google, they are apparently planning to build the new nsx as a hybrid so I hardly doubt it can ever compete with the vette on this level of sex/price/speed ever again so the vette will probably be the winner. and yeah the 280hp arguement was about telling you that the NSX was built to regulations and only comes to what it was designed to be with at least a modded 350 hp. just like you can't really find a stock supra anymore and someone talking about a supra is usually talking about a modded one, someone talking NSX is usually talking about a ~350hp one because you can get it to that power with almost no effort.
@noah_b
@noah_b 9 жыл бұрын
You're right, the new NSX is suppose to be a hybrid. But if they do it right, it'll be like the Porsche 918 spyder (which is also a hybrid), which has an insanely fast acceleration due to the electric motor in it. The electric motor provides instant torque whilst accelerating. If they keep the balance/trackability right, I think it'll give the vette a run for its money. Only time will tell.
