"The Christmas you get you deserve"...a lesson for those politicians out there....in this conflicted world. You got it so right, Greg, but unfortunately, they weren't listening.... But your song starts Christmas for me, and my family, in Ireland. RIP - you were a legend.

Having heard and known Greg almost entirely as he was singing, its EERIE to hear his hella cool and absolutely UNIQUE and instantly recognizable voice when he is speaking. :) His voice is unmistakable as the voice of 'Still, You Turn Me On' (one of the sweetest, and possibly the coolest love songs written), 'Lucky Man', 'From the Beginning', and yes, I'm a LEGIT G.L. fan, all his incredible HARD ROCK progressive work with ELP. Seriously, Brain Salad Surgery is irrefutably one of the most groundbreaking and thouroughly before its time, hella original albums of its time. To heavy for some, to unconventional and frightening to others, for those open minded enough to really HEAR what only 3 guys were creating and give it a chance (or if like me, instantly loved it), the reward far, far outweighed the risk. :) Like the beautiful Ellen Jefferies so far more eloquently imparts in the post immediately below this, I gratefully want to say: dear Greg, saying thank you for the joy and emotions your music enriched my life with seems like woefully inadequate compense in return, your generosity and selflessness sharing this lives within me for the rest of my eternity, and makes you my friend, forever.

Watching the video I noticed that from 1.04 to 1.35, the creases in the arm of Greg's tee shirt appear to form an image resembling him as a young man. Or am I mistaken?
@Matthew-ut6ed3 жыл бұрын
He didn't mention that the instrumental tune in the song (that he whistles here) is actually by Sergei Prokofiev. It's the "Troika" from "Lieutenant Kije".
@marcok.6734 Жыл бұрын
It's Jingle bells.
@Matthew-ut6ed Жыл бұрын
@@marcok.6734 No, mate, you misunderstand. He mentions "Jingle Bells" as coming to him as a bit of inspiration for the song, but if you listen to "I Believe in Father Christmas" there is an instrumental break which is a tune by Prokofiev. He whistles it here while playing the song.
