Been struggling with Access text books for the last week and was becoming more and more confused,thank you so much for the tutorials,As a beginner I have learnt more in 4 lessons than I have in a week of classes.Well done for keeping it simple,some of us have come to computers recently,and it drives me mad when people assume your familiar with the principals. Which I'd discovered you before doing Word and Excel!.

I am learning so much. Microsoft Access has been out of my range. I find your tutorial educational and informative. You are teaching at a pace that I find works for me and I appreciate the effort and time you have put into making these video. Knowledge is power and also job security. I didn't make any Access 2007 tutorials at the time... and it's SO similar to 2010 that there's no need. If you're using 2007 you should be able to follow along with my 2010 lessons.

Thank you for these tutorials! I recently began collecting data for a project and although I've used Access databases at work, I hadn't actually created a database in Access in a little over ten years (in a BCIS course I took in high school). Needless to say, I don't remember anything about how to get started or how to set it all up, so these videos are proving extremely helpful - very easy to follow!

Thank you very much for the critique. It's very hard to strike a balance between going too slow and too fast. I've had people take my Access/Excel classes who have never used any Office apps before, so I try to err on the side of not losing anyone. I feel if the material is too slow for a more experienced student, they can always skip ahead. I do certainly appreciate the feedback though.

I don't recommend storing files inside of Access databases. I recommend you store them in a folder and then just store their location in your database. I show how to do this in my Access Imaging Seminar (I cover mostly images and pictures, but it works for any file type).
@jennifer76859 жыл бұрын
this is the perfect pace. a little slow, but that gives your brain enough time to think about what it would mean before a new bit of data shows up. thank you, this is really helping me.

I use Hypercam for my screen capture recording. As far as using Access data on the web, I prefer writing custom pages in ASP (Active Server Pages) to do that. I'm not sold on Access Web Databases yet. They are fine for small teams, but they have a long way to go to be used on public web sites.
@599CD11 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you feel that way. This is a BEGINNER tutorial, so if you feel that it moves too slow for you, I have plenty of other advanced tutorials you can watch on my Channel and my web site. If you find this boring, then perhaps you should skip it.

Hi Your videos are great but I would like to know what screen capture program you use? It is almost seamless. Also, I use a access database on a webpage. Do you have any lesson on that because the results that show on the page I need to know to edit that and configure it.
@599CD11 жыл бұрын
Nope... it's Access 2010. The file format of the database was 2007, which is why it says "2007" in the title bar. It's definitely Access 2010 though. If it were 2007, you'd see the round OFFICE BUTTON instead of the FILE tab.

HOW SECURE IS AN ACCESS DATABASE FROM INTRUDERS ? DOES THE ACCESS DATABASE HAVE A WAY OF SREENING OUT INTRUDERS ?
@rutherfojr10 жыл бұрын
probably about the same as sql server
@599CD2 жыл бұрын
Access is nowhere near as secure as SQL Server. You can do a pretty good job of hiding the FRONT-END (forms, VBA code, etc.) but the table data is very hard to secure. You can encrypt it, but you can't completely prevent intruders. 599cd.com/Encryption

Your tutorials are impressive. I have very little experience with MS Office...I own a MAC and iPhone...am spoiled...find that PC programs are more difficult to figure out and not intuitive. Never in my working life did I have a class or training on any MS program or in the operation of a PC...do all employers think we were born with the knowledge? Anyway...starting a new job in a few days...and will be required to know MS Office and Access...thanks for the help...just wish I had the actual programs to tinker with...Not the same on MAC....

I was told by friend to use your tutorial. I am simply trying to build a very simple data base for my clients so I can send monthly birthday cards by printing labels, and to have their info at my fingertips. Is this the program I want? Sounds VERY complicated. Never worked with Excel and very little word. I was following until you got to query and creating reports, etc. Is this what I really want?

Access is definitely the best tool for the job, but as you've noticed it does take a lot more setup work than just using Word and Excel. Finish all 12 lessons and then make the decision for yourself. Hang in there. It's really quite easy once you get the hang of it.

Do not listen to the current generation. They want everything done in seconds. Look at some of the videos they make. He has a excellent speaking voice and pace. This is how people are supposed to teach a new subject. The pace gives the your brain a chance to think about what he says, and to rest for the new bits of information. You can always fast forward the video yourself, or listen to it at a faster speed, using the settings option

I know its for beginners but you don't need to show people things like how to start the program.
