Hi Richard, Great solution. Thanks! My Question is regarding printing reports? How would the printing reports use case be handled? Clearly they can not be directed to the local printer in the office? So where would they be directed to?

I have experience migrating Access tables into SharePoint Lists. The only problem that I ran into is losing the ability to create queries. In the past 6 months, I have been migrating Access databases into Power Apps for Teams with Dataverse as the backend and that's been working well so far.

Tables and linked tables can be imported from another Access database. If your tables are in Sharepoint, can they be imported as well, or are they protected?
@599CD
@599CD 2 жыл бұрын
That all depends on how you've got the database set up. Yes, it's possible for anyone who has access to the back-end tables to import the data.

Our company (currently 20 unique users, 5 or less simultaneous users) Access DB sends email (using MS Outlook) notifications with PDF files attached, does this service allow/accommodate that?
@599CD
@599CD 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but the Access Runtime will not send email via Outlook, so you'd need to install the full version of Office on your virtual machines (with licenses) or switch to a different method of sending email, such as the Gmail option I show in 599cd.com/EmailSeminar

@@599CD thank you. I'll be using your splitting and security classes to improve the database and I'll look at using Gmail for the email. They got me a gold membership but I watch a lot of your videos on KZbin so here you see my personal handle. I'll get the splitting and security classes/videos from your website. Thank you.

ADC is very impressive ...and the presentation is excellent. I need to address a few items internally before I take the plunge, but very likely will do so ... Two questions please 1) Regarding allocation capacity; we have designed, created and maintain 10 databases for 10 clients (the databases are near identical in design and only vary in data size from 50MB to 150MB). At the moment total storage requirements are less than a GB. How will that affect the monthly fee? ... 2) What are the additional charges for M-365? Thank you ... very much appreciate your insights ... and again, nicely done.
@599CD
@599CD 2 жыл бұрын
With only 1 GB you'll be fine. They don't charge extra for space within reason. My Cloud PC has 16 GB available which should be MORE than enough for most users. As far as M365 goes, they don't sell licenses, but you can get them from Microsoft for $20/user/mo. Remember, most users can use the free Runtime edition.

Thanks a lot for this. It's so much relieving as we finally got an easy solution to sharing our database online. And I salute you, Richard Rost for sharing this great information with everyone of us. Just a question I have and that is, how does it work with databases that have linked documents like images and various files that we normally access from our database? Do we still keep them locally on our pcs or we need to upload all of our linked files online as well? Will be happy to hear from you. Thanks

If you want to open / view the documents from the database, they would need to be uploaded to the Cloud Server.

This seems to be a service where the smaller business or in our case a very small non-profit Historical Society would benefit the most. If you are a larger business you are like to invest in a company wide solution that is not dependent on an outside solution such as this. For a small entity like our group the cost is just way too much for us to handle. We have 7 officers/trustee's, and this would eat up our budget in no time. Are there any other very low cost solutions that would work for our needs?
@599CD
@599CD 2 жыл бұрын
Access Database Cloud is the best solution for a small group that doesn't want to spend any time developing an SQL Server solution. You can get setup very easily, but sure, there is a higher monthly cost. Honestly, as long as you don't mind putting in a little time into learning SQL Server, it's not that hard to set up if you're already familiar with developing in Access. My seminar walks you through it step-by-step: 599cd.com/AccessSQL - and the cost for this kind of solution is cheap. Online SQL Server web hosting through WinHost is like $10 per month, you can use free Access Runtime editions for your users, so there's no per-user cost. This is what I use for my in-house database and my website.

it needs MS office enterprise edition. USD 144 per year. office 365 family won't work on cloud services. so anyone still didn't buy office yet then go for enterprise edition. i had also access runtime error and also removed it. ADC is the easiest method and fast connection speed too.

You pay per user account, and I don't think there is a limit on the number of databases you can have within reason, of course. But you get your own virtual PC. I don't know how much drive space you'll have to contact them, but if you have 3-4 users, that's what you pay for the additional logins, and each one of them will have their own virtual desktop. See this page for more info: 599cd.com/ADC

Yep. That's the only major downside... but they have pretty awesome infrastructure. It's fast, managed, backed up. If your database is mission critical and you want to run it from multiple locations, this is the best solution short of upgrading to SQL Server.
