Rodri’s understanding of the game is second to none. The way he controls matches. Now he’s started adding more goals to his arsenal. Not every Jim and Jack execute what Rodri does. I’m sure that’s why Arteta went on to get Declan Rice cause he needed someone different to try this role after he tried it with Partey numerous occasions. Don’t get me wrong, Partey is quality, absolutely. But in football you have to get the basics right all the time. You have to use your intelligence/understanding and your technical abilities.

There was never ever talk of him being the best dm until the end of last season and that was also down to the fact that city won the treble. Before that there was always Kante, Casemiro and Partey in the mix. He could play for other teams but prime Partey from Atlético was far better than Rodri used to be under the same system and manager (Simeone). Rodri is also not that great in the Spanish team. Did Spain win any title of any significance in the last years with Rodri in the middle? No, they’re not even favorites. So how is that possible since you list Rodri as the main reason as to why City won the treble?
