Originally, Tumbbad was planned as a trilogy, but the real reason Rahi Anil Barve isn’t returning for a sequel is that he is done working on Tumbbad. He wrote the first draft in 1997 and was stuck with the project for almost 10 years, starting from 2008. In an interview, he said that Tumbbad went through many struggles he faced multiple rejections, bankruptcy, and the film was stalled several times. Every time he narrated the story to someone, they rejected it, and no one wanted to take on the project. In the same interview, he shared that he has seven scripts ready, including Maisabha and Rakhtbramhand, and he is excited to work on them. The interview was very interesting, as he revealed many dark secrets of Bollywood but interview was in Marathi.

Original cult films and it's sequels should be directed by their original directors who have given their contribution in making films like Hera pheri, bhool bhulaiyaa and race a hit film Directors like Abbas mustan, priyadarshan sir should make a trademark on the original cult films which they have directed and it has become a hit , they should not hand over it to any tom dick and harry or in short to any of those directors who do not have any knowledge about that particular kind of film For example race is an action thriller film which is meant to be directed by Abbas mustan sir and bhool bhulaiyaa is an horror comedy film which only priyadarshan sir can and should direct I really request the producers that if they are planning to go for sequels of race franchises and bhool bhulaiyaa franchise then please do hand over the script to their original directors and please do not hand over the script to anyone else
