Hi 5piece, another video stated that the Stereo Independence was so that Left and Right would be processed independently per each function (Transient and Sustain)? eg. When it applies the limiting on Transients, at 100% the left and the right would be independently processed for Transient? This is suppose to achieve more loudness as now the left and right could be processed separately.

I can barely hear the difference between the *bypassed and enable of most of the parameters. What could be causing this? Pls
@5piece
@5piece 7 ай бұрын
Could be a variety of things. What are you listening on exactly? That could be a major culprit, as some devices won’t showcase differences as much as others. KZbin also applies volume normalization, which unfortunately I can’t get around. This sometimes makes differences more subtle as well as it essentially “levels” things out It also takes time to “tune” your ears to understand what to listen for actively. This is very different from casually listening, as you aren’t really listening for enjoyment per se, but moreso to understand the nuances of a sound. This takes time and practice. One way I learned was just messing with an EQ on sounds - soloing frequencies to understand what I’m listening for. This is specific to frequency manipulation and not necessarily other processes like compression/limiting, but it’s a good starting point Hope these tidbits help 🙏🏼

@5piece don't some people consider a gate an expander?as well can you also elaborate upward compression vs Expansion or are we talking about the same thing, thanks because my understanding is expansion can be up or down as it relates to Volume aren't the titles based on te Ratios ?? Thank You I really need this clarified
@5piece
@5piece Жыл бұрын
Great idea for a future video. To give you SOME help quickly: the two are very similar, in that they increase dynamic range (or effectively exaggerate the difference between loud and quiet, vs. Compression which reduces the difference). Gating is much more extreme than expansion. If you want things to hard close / mute on softer parts you don’t want in a performance, you’d use a gate. If you still want to preserve those quieter moments but make them quieter, use an expander. This isn’t exactly one size fits all, but hopefully points you in the right direction until I do a video on it 🤘🏻

How are you hearing the imager without turning the stereoizer on? This is a serious question. Thanks in advance

I was going to say 😂 but in your defense, I was also under the impression width doesn’t work without stereoize. This is actually false - but the stereoize feature creates a more dramatic/noticeable width (although it isn’t necessary to achieve width). You can noticeably hear the enhancement to my master in this video without me using the stereoize function - so using it is a matter of taste / situation. I’m sure you get it but leaving this here for anyone else who may be wondering the same thing.
@OfficialADONISMusic-bv3qe

According to the manual stereoizer gives width to mono sources. So basically without using the stereoizer button, your width will be based on, and help widen a mix that already has certain width sources like reverb and delay and other stereo modulating effects on it BEFORE mastering. With the stereoizer it will not only widen stereo sources, but also mono sources as well. So if, let's say you have your vocal where you like it, then don't use the stereoizer button in that vocal frequency range because it will widen it more. A very interesting and useful plugin if used in moderation.
@5piece
@5piece Жыл бұрын
@@OfficialADONISMusic-bv3qeyeah and effects like reverb, delay, etc also typically live more in the stereo field so that logic checks out. As they say “use your ears” - that tends to serve me best. You’re 100% right though, super easy to abuse this plugin so moderation is DEFINTELY key. That’s why I typically suggest a lower setting of 10-15 in either direction in most scenarios (but similarly, learn the rules to BREAK the rules 😉

I think overall I like the flexibility of my own mastering chain. These tools are amazing and I definitely still use some of the individual modules on my chain, but I gravitate more towards certain EQs and comps specifically outside of this one

When changing settings the overall gain/volume will change. With gain match engaged, the original sound and and the adjusted sound will stay the same. The benefit is that you won't be fooled by volume adjustments, but rather the actual processing sound.
@5piece
@5piece Жыл бұрын
What Ricky said ! Basically helps you hear your chain without the added volume. Gives you perspective and helps you know if what you’re doing is actually not helping since often the changes we make change volume and give us the perception that louder is better when in fact it isn’t.
