This was truly a contrast in styles. Southern sounds AMAZING. They came with it this time. Jackson State is just on another planet. They went out and got them some real musicians and I’m here for it.

I come from Famu and marched in the 100, so I have no dog in the fight. With that being said, I give both bands a 10/10. They sound balanced, and clear. They also had plenty of sound. Great jobs to both bands.

JSU needs some more dynamic contrast throughout the JoJo song. Low brass recovered excellently in the intro from playing too fast, anticipating the percussion. Solid level 4. Their trumpets sound really good. Theyve made a structure for their sound and sound like a great trumpet choir.

Jsu was overall louder, but they suppose to be because their way bigger than Su. Su had the more intricate arrangements. Way more challenging to me. Both sounded good, but I lean towards SU.
