✅ Thanks so much for watching! ✌ ✌ ✌ ✅ Something to keep in mind... Adding the area of the base and the areas of all the lateral faces will work for any pyramid. The formula (SA = B + 1/2 x p x s) that is mentioned in the video only works for regular pyramids though (regular = all sides of the base are the same). For example, it works for square pyramids because all of the lateral faces are the same. For a counter example, this formula does not work for a rectangular pyramid because all of the lateral faces are not the same.

Try for this (all in cm) height of pyramid = 3 Base is a square with side = 8 But here we got the total surface area = 112 ( as per your first method) But the correct answer is 144 ( by finding slant height i.e. 5) And in my opinion.... Height of the pyramid from center of the base is not same thing as slant height... And it can't be the same...

Do you have a video that shows hot to get the smallest surface area of a pyramid?
@dipuhaldar92147 ай бұрын
Sorry MrJ, 5 is the slant height not height of the triangle. by pythagoras theorem, slant height 5 is hypotenuse of triangle with base 6, in this case we'll take it as 3 , then height will be h^2=5^2-3^2 =25-9=16, h =√16=4. then, area of one triangle will be =1/2×6×4=12. area of 4 triangle=4×12=48. now total surface area= 36+48=84 unit^2
@wajnmountain6 ай бұрын
Yeah, but it’s still a surface. It would be useful to find the height if you are trying to do volume, but not necessary for surface area.
