Comparing My Powerstrokes 6.0 vs 7.3 | If I Had to Choose Only One of Them Which Would I Choose?

Let's compare my 2000 Ford F250 with the 7.3 PowerStroke and my 2003 Ford F350 with the 6.0 Powerstroke. What if you could only keep one, which would you choose? I get asked that question a lot. In this video we will compare them, drive them, 0-60 them and I'll give you the rundown on both trucks, and I'll answer the question "If I could only keep one".

The 5r110w transmission is tuff. It has 5 speeds and a very low 1st and second to get heavy loads moving. The 4r100 behind the 7.3 is known for a weak torque converter, and running too hot, causing failure. Also the bypass tube on the 4r100 can cause issues. The 6.0 is a better heavy pulling truck, for heavy loads. Better gears, more power for pulling grades, and generally gets better milage when pulling heavy. The 7.3 can be built to do the same heavy pulling, without egt issues for pretty cheap. You just loose the extra gear, which is surely felt when something like a heavy man lift, or heavy 5th wheel is on the back, and your trying to accelerate. Both trucks are very capable, and can be great work trucks. The 6.0 has potential to do some serious power, given it's built properly to have reliability with that power as well. I look at it like this, from a certified ford diesel tech, that has owned them both.... If you want a beast of a truck, and have $ to spend, the 6.0 is the clear winner. It'll out tow(legally), out accelerate, out turn, out brake(not break), and out class the 7.3... The one thing it won't ever do, is match it's reliability, and that's the reason I sold the 6.0, and kept the man's truck. 288k on factory injectors, cold starts and runs like new. Larger turbo, built trans, and all mods done for larger 238/100 injectors, and I'm saving that and custom tunes for when she turns 300k. If you want absolute reliability, the 7.3 truck is going to get you and your load to your destination with minimal total cost of ownership, while providing unbeatable rock solid reliability. Period. The 6.0 is like the hot girl you know you want to get with, even if she hurts your feelings. Bad to the bone as far as power when built and tuned correctly, but picky, and fussy. Rides smooth, turns good, slightly better milage, taller high gears, lower low gears. Two total different animals. I love them both, but something about the old 7.3 really does something for me. Pre emission goodness, that I honestly don't think will ever be beat when it comes to outright reliability. I own this truck, an AK-47, and an 1986 Honda TRX 250r. They are my most beloved possessions, simply because of thier outstanding quality, reputation, and proven reliability in the harshest of conditions.

Regarding the 250r and other things....me too. Well at least I HAD a 250r, KX500 and a couple of other big bore 2-strokes.

The 5r is actually a 6 speed but only uses 1-3 then 5th. 6th is lock up (in stock configuration). absolutely bulletproof transmission.

As someone who has owned both, the 6.0 is without a doubt a more fun platform to operate. Sure, you'll have spend some money on bulletproofing...but I haven't had any issues with either of my 6.0's post-bulletproofing. Lower mileage and clean 7.3's are going for BIG BIG bucks in my area.

I have a 6.7l and a 7.3l, a 2002 7.3l My 7.3 has 280k miles on it and I wouldn't hesitate to jump in it now and go on a cross country trip. LOVE LOVE my 6.7l for the comfort and quiet and towing power. But the 7.3 will always have a special place in my heart. 7.3l was my dads he bought it new, I put about 50k miles on it since i've had it. my 6.7l has 116k miles on it. I grew up around 7.3s we used to have 4 7.3 work trucks, they were the best.

I have an 07 that was extremely taken care of it’s whole life and now I got my hands on it. I have fun with it on a hot tune and have had 0 issues besides injectors being maxed out

I absolutely love a sorted 6.0 but with that being said I only have room for 1 truck and it’s a 7.3. Honestly if your 7.3 had 400k on it it would last just as long as the 6.0.

I have a 2003 F250 7.3L Lariat long bed extended cab 2wd I use for towing my 36ft 5th wheel with three slides, It pulls the snot out of it. It has coil springs on the front I guess because its 2WD? Not sure but those are much better then leaf springs for sure. The truck has 120K miles on it and is a super clean never wrecked Texas truck and totally amazing inside and out. Its white with grey interior and all original flawless pretty much paint. I put black Mayhem wheels on it, 04-08 badges all around and rear tail lights from like a 2010, the newer tow mirrors, tinted the windows, put in a touch screen with back up camera, it has a 6 position chip, air bags and a goose neck hitch. Freaking awesome rig for my purpose.

I have an 2003 F350 Dually 6.0 myself. I've had this truck for about 8 years. Love my truck... Good gas millage as you stated, surprisingly good! The truck is so confortable... Love driving to Miami from the Orlando area or SC to visit family over there. I bought the truck with 135k miles and now I have about 160K. I agree, the 6.0 is a great truck...Thanks for sharing.

Informative video! Just snagged a 7.3 for my pops with 180k on the clock. It's his third ford 7.3, with the previous two adding to 900k miles before dying. I was scared to switch to a 6.0, after the reliability we've gotten off of our 7.3 work trucks. Cheers!

The trick to a long lasting 6.0 is as followed. a. Oil and filter changes every 6500 miles b. replace batteries when they become lazy c. delete egr d. DO NOT OVER BOOST THEM when stock 23ibs is maximum e. Do not let them idle for long periods of time f. do not jump start another vehicle if you have a weak charging system g. periodically inspect engine & injector wiring harnesses for any chaffing or close to a heat source h. Add 1 quart of auto trans fluid to a tank full of fuel. i. change the coolant tank cap every other service. You follow the above & your truck will rot out before it dies out.

Remember when the Govt changed Gas from LEADED to UNLEADED in the 70's? What happened to the cars designed to run LEADED GAS?

DO NOT ADD ATF TO YOUR DIESEL TANK. This old practice was fine years ago when atf was less refined . Modern atf is engineered not to burn off and will leave harmful ash deposits in your engine. It also has friction modifiers that I wouldnt want to run in a high pressure fuel system. Just pony up the bucks for actual fuel treatment.

Thanks for the great side by side comparison video. As someone who has owned almost every diesel Ford offered (6.9 idi,. 7.3 idi, and 7.3, 6.0 and 6.7 Powerstrokes) I understand your difficulty in choosing one over another. Each had their strong points, as well as low points. The early idi's were slow, but reliable as hell. My 7.3 Powerstroke was way less costly than my 6.0 over the long run but less comfortable and the transmission was weaker. The 6.7 tows great (not that the others didn't), just seems to tow effortlessly. But repairs are pricey!! For me, it'd come down to a later 7.3 or sorted out 6.0. Hell, I'll take one of each!

Really enjoyed your content. Have a 2003 Ford excursion with a 6.0. she drives real smooth. Two-wheel drive. Wish I had the four-wheel-drive. But not necessary. Hundred percent stock. I use her to pull a bumper pull travel trailer that weighs 10,000.

I have an '03 6.0 with 407K, and counting, miles. Purchased it in 2013 with about 180K on it. Stock everything. Not deleted, not tuned. Removed the cat shortly after purchase just to get a little better exhaust note. Never blown a head gasket or any of the other typical 6.0 problems. Replaced the FICIM about 5 years ago, and all 8 injectors 2 years ago. Turbo is getting a lil tired and will stick when I go directly into city driving after hauling heavy on the highway for a few hours, but it goes away after a few stoplights. I know I'm probably one of the few who haven't had the typical bad experiences with the 6.0, but i think both are great motors!

PowerStroke Help interviewed a guy on their channel who had a bone stock 6.0 and was transporting huge boats from like Canada to Florida for a living. Truck had like half a million miles and had really never been worked on at all. The guy kept up with service really well.

I just rolled over 500,000 on my 07' F350 6.0. The motor has never been rebuilt, but I did just have to send in the FICM to be repaired. I had an eco tune put on it because the Ford reflash detuned them 50hp. I'll take a 6.0 all day over the 7.3. The bottom end of a 6.0 is way stronger than a 7.3 or even a 5.9 Cummins. The 05-07 trucks ride way better with the coil springs and its nice having the integrated trailer brake controller and up fitter switches. The only problems I see with the 6.0 trucks are the weak alternator / charging system they come with from the factory and the EGR system. These trucks really need more amps to run the glow plugs, FICM and other accessories at start-up. They don't need head studs if you drive them responsibly. Ford tuned them to turn out a lot more power from the factory. These engines don't have nearly the problems in commercial applications. You should really consider deleting the truck to unlock its full potential. When you let the 6.0 breathe it gets great fuel economy. I'm averaging 19 mpg with a crew cab long box (I drive conservatively). If I take a long road trip on the interstate I'll get almost 22mpg. I have the ODAWGS Diesel intake which totally removes any evidence of the EGR except for the plug that still hangs out of the wiring harness. I got a stage-1 KC Turbo, BD exhaust manifolds / up-pipes, BANKS intercooler and a 4' turbo-back exhaust (no muffler).

‘03 f250 6.0L bone stock, 213k still runs like new. It’s all in the maintenance, change oil every 5k & fuel filters every 10k. Good to go

My 7.3 is at 324k and still runs like it did when I got it at 178k. In fact, I know guys with over 500k miles on theirs and they still run perfectly. Just be sure to give that fuel filter a regular change out and ALWAYS let it warm up!

My old 1999 F250 7.3 six speed has 120000 miles on the odometer and that's very low in comparison to the others in that year. I've had many offers for the Super Duty but refuse to give it up! I've taken great care of the truck and I know it'll last longer than I live at 69-years this fall! To me the best F250 ever built 🤔

Ive owned one of each , like em both. 177k. The 5r 110 was the seller. Fuel spring , egr delete , 4 inch exhaust , removed the air filter intake cowling which helped the spool up noticeably! I pull our heavy loads with it I might be starting to have some minor head issues so I think I’m going to address those. Otherwise I love the truck ! Good video!

I got a 04 6.0 with the ZF6, used. I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s cheaper to operate per hour than 7.3, it’s comfortable, easy to service. Love it.

@@ProjectTimeGarage mine had a factory ZF6, but it’s my understanding that is a pretty easy swap. It’s a lot easier to swap auto to manual, rather than the other way around. As far as I know, you’ll need the transmission, pedal assembly, clutch hydraulics, and a clutch kit that includes a flywheel. But do your own research, may vary.

Cause I could see one pulling a cab and engine quite frequently in that case. Stock 6.0s frequently hit 700k without any major repair. They’re all getting so old now that we’re really seeing the true longevity.

Well, I just bought a super clean king ranch 6.0. I was able to buy my coworker and very good friends 04' ccsb when he passed in November. His name was Seth Ketterer. A Sr Master diesel tech that taught me a whole lot of what I know about these old trucks. Everything is already done but studs. That will be the first, and last on the upgrade list as all of the deletes, tuning, fuel upgrades are done. I'm not going to lie, I missed the sound, gearing and power of the 6.0. This time around this clean old king ranch is staying with me till the end along with the ol 7.3. I revisited the video again, forgetting about my comment on it. Pretty damn spot on I'll say. Going to drop the $ this week and start tearing this thing down to stud it, even though it's perfectly fine with factory head gaskets and tty bolts on a big tune for now. It runs way too hard to not lift a head. I feel it coming. 😂 I still prefer the seats in my 03' 7.3 as you do. I like the leather look, not the cold, hot and hardness you get with them. Hope these trucks are doing you solid and making you $. Again, great video sir! .

Great video and comparison. I’m in the market for a new family truck/tow rig. We travel a lot during summer for vacation and the 2 kids (10 & 5 year olds) are outgrowing our current 2002 super cabs. I need a crew cab 4x4 and really wanted a new 250 tremor gas, but not at these inflated prices. Was thinking of going with a 6.0, but really after our long success with our current 7.3 trucks (mine has 340,000 that I bought new and my wife’s has 309,000 that had 88k when we bought it). I finally committed to getting another 2002/2001 350.trying to stay under 200,000 miles but looks like I’ll have no choice but to pay between $25k-$33k for a 1 owner stock super clean low mile model.

We have a 7.3 excursion, 300,000 miles still runs great, doesn't get up and go quickly, but great cruiser, have replaced very minimal on it. Husbands 2006 F350 with a 6.0 he has replaced all of the problem parts in the engine. It also has around 300,000 on it now. But it is much peppier, smooth and quiet like a new truck. So it was worth it.

I only had one diesel truck 96 f250 2wd Texas package 3 tone green 7.3 loved the truck my cousin needed it to haul their cattle really miss that truck only had 129000 when I bought it. Have a chance to buy 04 dully with 6.0 been bullet proofed but idles Great but misses pretty bad when giving it throttle n smokes I know nothing about them don't have money to have anyone to fix it. The 6.0 is fine as long as someone else hasn't destroyed it before you get it. I typically pass on any 6.0 that has problems, since they could be a simple as an injector or as catastrophic as a piston.

Thanks for the comparisons. I'll take the million mile 7.3 though. And you really want the 99.5- early 02, when the trucks had the forged rods. The 03's aren't near as tough. I have more than both of those put together on my 99.5 and I'd jump in it and drive to Alaska tomorrow, without a problem. For about 30K there is a guy in Ga. that can make your 6.0 pretty close to the Early 7.3 SD's.

May I suggest D-P Tuner for your program flashes. I've known Jody Tipton over 12 years and he's designed me one program for my 2006 6.0 and 2 programs for my 1999 7.3. He's very knowledgeable about the Ford diesels and is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He's also helped me out with some other issues not related to the programs which was very helpful and VERY much appreciated. BTW, for me, it's the 7.3 hands down, no contest. I actually traded in my 06 for my 99, and after 7 years I still think it was the best vehicle decision I've ever made. Head gaskets, fuel/injector problems, EGR failure. It was snappier out of the box, but couldn't match the fuel mileage or the reliability. I would guestimate that with my 80+ economy program the HP and torque would be close to matching the 6.0. The 120 racing blows it out of the water but I don't use it much because I HATE replacing $300+ tires every year. Glad I found you! Keep on keepin' on!

Just got done fixing up my wife's grandfather's '03 6.0 we kind of inherited. Replaced all 8 injectors, added the BP Diesel air cooled oil cooler kit, blue spring upgrade, new glow plugs, new thermostat and water pump and belt. Replaced the the oil rail seals and feeder cups as well as the standpipe and new turbo hose. After 6 months of weekend wrenching in my driveway I am adding the last bit of oil later today and then letting her start it up. Going to run a few cycles of water through it hot to clear out the coolant system. Hopefully we get a lot of years of use out of it (no way it is going to be a daily driver).

Can't go wrong.... Ordered my 01 from the factory in 10/00 and don't plan on getting rid of it. Also has around 165k on it. Have upgraded it along the way with Tri-Power chip, 4" cat back, AirRaid CAI, 08 mirrors, LED head and tail lights. Only weak spot has been the 4rR100 (on my 3rd) and 1 water pump. Reliable as the day is long.... Sounds like you practically stole yours...

I'll say the 6.0 is way more refined but I can't see it ever being as dependable and lasting as long as a 7.3. If you have the money you'll like a 6.0. If your not as well off financially and need a truck to rely on then 7.3 without a doubt. Although both styles are old now there's still plenty of either to be had.

True, no doubt. But another thing to consider is the 7.3s are getting older and a lot of parts are reaching service life. Things like injectors, Turbos, HPOP, ICP, IPR, Oil Cooler, etc. Replacing those things is pricey just for parts alone. I had never considered that point of view until I got the 7.3 truck. Of course, now that we've spent all the money, it'll live a long long time.

I have 2006 f350 King Ranch dually I have had it since 2010 and in 2019 I did allot of engine work. It became a completely different truck after that. I am at 25,000 plus pounds 90% of the time when driving I have been very impressed what this truck has been doing for years now. I also have 4.30 gears in it and that was what I was looking for because I knew I was always going to be heavy when driving. The first years I lost 2 turbocharger but was always able to get home just allot slower. 2019 bigger turbo, head bolts, exhaust work and whatever had to be done. Sure has been allot cheaper then what these new trucks are going for have 105,000 miles on it now an it still looks great inside and out. I have look at the new trucks ever now and then but still stay with this for now. Hard to pick up such a huge bill for something that only gets driven 10,000 miles or so a year. Mine rides okay but is a little rough when empty mainly because my tires are always at 80 pounds. Since it getting used for heavy work i just leave the tires at 80 pounds.

Bill Hewitt down at Powerstroke Specialty in Atlanta has always been a pretty reputable Powerstroke repair shop. Now I think he only works on the 6.0 and 6.7. Anyway, nowadays he buys 6.0 trucks and COMPLETELY restores them. I'm talking suspension, interior, paint correction, full-on dealerproofing, heads, lifters, studs, all of it. Basically turning out brand new 6.0 trucks.

2003 7.3 and a 2006 6.0 here. The 06 has the captains chairs and I agree you sit on them not in them. The 40/20/40 split in a 05-07 is as comfy as the 99-04 seats, and captains chairs in a 99-04 suck too.

The 7.3l is a dog in factory form and the 6.0 is definately more powerfull but When adding additional performance parts both trucks can be maxed out at there peak high performance engines and niether exceeds the other in hp or torque. Only differance is ur going to pay $20,000 just to get that 6.0l bulletproofed the right way to handle the future performance parts where as the 7.3’s factory internals can handle 600hp+ without sacrificing any of its reliabilty and the 4r100 can be easily built up to be a great trans for $2500 worth of upgrades and for less than $10k you can have the truck making 700hp. These are all things I’ve experienced and am still experiencing at a wopping 569,000 miles on my 7.3’s odometer and did all the work almost 300,000 miles ago and she aint showing any sighns of getting tired only thing i replaced recently is the oil pan witch if u have a 7.3l it will have to happen eventually as they do tend to rust but otherwise 7.3l all the way no doubt about it

Yes, the 7.3 stock was a pig. Reliable, but a pig nonetheless. As far as the 6.0 goes, yes they had a lot of trouble out of the gate, basically EGR Coolers and heads lifting (almost always due to big tunes and high head pressure). Once they're studded and EGR cooler gone, they're actually very reliable engines. I haven't had wrench turned on mine in almost 15 years now, and it's only job in life is to pull things. Goosenecks, excavator, backhoe, 32' camper, etc. It works well and has been quite reliable. As far as the 6.4 goes, they were destined for failure right out of the gate. Now the problem is that there are very few good parts left in circulation for them, heads and turbos especially.

Resale factor. No one wanted my 03 6.0 despite being bullet-proofed with around 120k total on it.. Had to come down considerably to finally move it due to it bad rep. My stock 97 7.3 F-350 with 175k sold in one day on the Diesel Stop forum for full asking price. Some are sought after, some not. The 7.3 is sought after when it come to re-sale.

I had a 2000 F350 Powerstroke for years and rust finally destroyed it. It needed a new bed, and I was looking around for one at a reasonable price, then the cab started to rust out bad. I kept the truck clean, waxed, and scraped down the frame and re-undercoated it. After spending 19 winters driving salt covered roads in New Jersey it needed a whole new body. Over the years it got new injectors, glow plugs, oil pan, a complete front end, locking hubs, springs, shocks, wheel, tires, brakes and tranny. Both differential covers even rusted out and had to be replaced. I bought it used in 2009 for $13k with 121k miles, dropped about $12k into it over the years, and sold it in 2019 with 165k for $12k. Any of the '99-16 trucks the best one is the one with the least rust in my opinion.

I'm a 99.5 7.3 6spd (no tunes) owner since 2005 and love it. However, I would have thought that the 6.0 would be better, engine performance wise, at all RPM ranges. I thought that was the purpose of the VG turbo. Granted displacement would give the 7.3 better low end than the 6.0 if just running on the engine but I thought that the 6.0 would be peppier in stop and go traffic (never driven a 6.0).

Im not a ford guy, but i would personally take the 7.3 with 305k miles over the 6.0 with 148k miles depending on whoever the previous owner of the truck was. But to my knowledge, 305k miles on a 7.3 is practically nothing. 1 of my buddies has had multiple 7.3s. All of which were very reliable. 1 of his had over 640k miles on it with the original engine. Reason he got rid of was his transmission went out and didnt wanna rebuild it

The only emissions difference between the 6.0 and 7.3 is the EGR cooler on the 6.0. That cooler is prone to casting fissures causing coolant to escape, which was the culprit of all the head gasket problems. The next engine in Navistar's series after the 6.0 was the 6.4, that one had some major issues.

I've currently got a 2003 6.0, with only 15k on it, its been my spare truck since it was new. I also own a 1996 7.3L old body style. When I got the 6.0, I sold my 1995 4.9L F250. I love the 6.0, and I do like the comfort of the newer truck, but its been a royal pain to keep it going over the years. The motor has been aces, but that truck has eaten 10 pair of batteries, four alternators, five fuel pressure reg. orings, three ICP sensors, two fuel filler necks, and two rear bumpers have cracked. The truck sits indoors, it has since new. It can't sit more than a week or so without going dead, I had to toss the OEM alternator and hang a high amp older model on it to get it to properly charge the batteries. Somehow Ford thought that 110a/13.5v was enough to recover from a 210a glow plug start. Two fuel filler necks have rusted through, (no other rust on the truck), and its developed fuel leaks at the secondary filter five times now due to the key hole oring leaking. After 18 years I finally had to change the tires, they were getting dry rotted but had perfect tread. I really wish I had kept my 4.9L F250 though, it may not have ridden as nice as the 2003, but it sure was a lot less to worry about and I don't think I spent anything more than a few oil changes on it in the 24 years I owned it. With only 16k on it, it had a lot more miles left in it.

Hey, I have an idea on your battery drain (been there). Try this; Before you park it next time, take the instrument cluster out - physically remove and unplug it. Let the truck sit for a while without it and see if the battery still goes dead. There were a BUNCH of these trucks that had issues in the cluster that caused parasitic drain.

@@ProjectTimeGarage Two dealers have tried this, no luck, the first dealer did the pull the cluster and let it sit, but they only had it a few days. It takes longer. The 2nd dealer shotgunned two batteries, an alternator, the cluster, glow plug controller, and FICM, but no change. A third dealer replaced the dash cluster twice trying to fix an erratic fuel gauge, which they never did sort out. (2 Gauges, 2 clusters, four senders and 121 days at the dealer for that issue and still the gauge takes an hour to register a change in level when filling the tank if I don't leave it running when I refill). If I stick two new batteries in it, its good for about 6 months. I can let it sit for a month at a time and it'll start. Any longer and the volts drop below 12.2 and it won't crank. I'm starting to think its not a matter of the truck drawing the batteries down, as it is the truck does something to the batteries where they won't take a charge. If I stick 2 new batteries in the truck, its fine for a couple months or so. Then I start finding it dead, and each time it takes less time than before. If I pull the batteries, recharge them on a slow charger for a few days separately, I can eventually get the volts back up to where they belong, but they're never right again. One old battery has been in my tractor for a year, its now three years old, but it died the other day, it won't take more than 8 volts. Its twin, that came out the same time got put in its place, and it works fine for that but it won't crank up the truck. I noticed that if the glow plugs draw down the batteries, and I don't either run it for a good long period, the standing voltage never comes back up. Even though the alternator is charging 14.2v and nearly 150a. On fresh batteries, the volts come right back up. The Glow plugs are drawing about 145a at turn on, and about 65a just before the relay turns them off. That seemed pretty normal to me. The problem is the batteries won't take two glow plug cycles in a row on anything but brand new batteries. On the alternators that failed, the diodes were blown up on the plate. they literally burned away and fell out of the plate. Switching to a monster G3 has stopped that issue, but not the battery problem. Standing amp draw is only about .21 ma, which is from the radio, alarm, and ecu memory. (My car has double that and never has a starting problem on only one battery). Another annoying issue its had is that the door locks never respond the first time, I have to tap the button or the key fob twice to get it to respond in any way. The windows are the same way, I have to rock each switch twice to induce a window to move, once it moves, I can go up or down at will, but once I stop, and wait a minute, it again requires trying twice. (they replaced all the switches, harnesses, etc over and over and no change). If the truck sits for more than four days, when I do move it, the ABS light is on for the first 1/4 mile, then it goes out and is fine until it sits for four or more days. If I get in the truck and tap the brake pedal at day 3, it will take four days from that time on again.

I can tell you from experience that 35x12.50 will almost fit. With leveling kit they fit almost perfect. I'm sure 33" tires would fit.

@@remontmharris7985 No, unfortunately, the newer diesels aren't within my scope. In fact, I'm not sure that I'll ever buy any newer diesel pickup. The repair costs have gotten to the point that they are no longer attractive to me.

Yep, it's there. He uses it a lot. I would rank it's fuel economy in the negatives. The V10 got terrible mileage back in 95 when it was new.

I got a rust free 01 350 crew 4x4 LB with an unheard of 74xxx on the odometer..former Alabama state fleet maintained..its a hoss..and drives straight as a needle down the route at 80 mph..they rebuilt the front end with entirety new braking system..it needs a water pump..I have the pump to replace it..$18k..oh it's a plain as the day is long XL..Rubber floor and vinyl benches..no dents..maybe a few dings and few scratches..I'm in Alabama.

I have a 7.3 with 330k on it f550 and I love it it. My dad has a450 with over 400k 7.3 also. On side not I have 6.7 also and I freaking love it just as much

7.3 is like a good friend it will be there for a while if your good to it.... the 6.0 is a hot rod it goes real hard till it doesn't like most hot rods... my wife takes our kids to school in the same excursion my mom took me to school in... both are great if you take care of them but very different aditudes

@@ProjectTimeGarage the best thing you can do with the 7.3 is the ac mod... it cuts off coolant to the heater core on max a/c ... I can get condensation on my windows in the summer morning blows about 38f cost like $40 it would be a cool... video to get out there and anyone can do it best of luck with the 7 gallon oil changes... lol it keeps the shop warm in the winter 🙃 keep up the good work 💪👷 thanks for the comment 👍

Ok, that's now no the short list. I have to pull the A/C doghouse anyway because the evap core is full of mud/debris. The truck had a LONG life in the dust & dirt. I'll do that mod while I'm at it. Thanks for the heads up on this, I wasn't even aware of it before you said something.

@@ProjectTimeGarage it's great even uses ford parts it's a vacuum valve... 2 lines in 2 lines out you snip the heater hoses ware they run parallel under the cowl insert the valve. Then take vacuum hose and a t- piece, put the t piece on the blender door line under the glove box then simply connect the vacuum line from the t piece thew the fire will ,by the blender door there is a punch threw... connect it to the valve ... use hose clamps on the valve. All you need is a razor and screw driver 10 minutes if you know your truck 40 minutes if you don't... blender door only shuts when max a/c is on... that means that's the only time coolant is cut off from the cab... if you want to be smug 😏 put a wetting agent in the coolant and your radiator will cool faster so the condenser won't have to fight the coolant Temps on the front side... you'll chuckle when your hands start to freeze lol ill look up the part number for you

@@ProjectTimeGarage ford part number R3020197813MTR its called a ford ranger heater control valve... you can get cheap ones on Amazon for 11 bucks... best of luck be careful if you're reusing your heater core if you use foaming ac cleaner... it foams because the acid it... simple green works just soak it ford even recommends running simple green to clean the coolant system on the 7.3... drain the coolant fill it with water and SG run it a couple times 2 or 3 times 15 minetes, drain it and refill it... block coolant plug is not hard to get to, its by the oil filter takes a Allen key... change both of the fuel filters and oil and you'll have one determined knuckle dragging tow machine ...try running archoil ive got 450k miles and around 500hp I only replace it if it falls off and I carry a spare crank sensor and socket in my glove box... I love my truck and it's never let me down just normal maintenance that I know I'm responsible for... your 7.3 is incapable of failure if you stay on top... keep up the good times

Deringers aren't cheap to buy, but they're easily the best diesel tuners. If your tuning your truck, bite the bullet and spend the little extra so your not blowing head gaskets with a flash tune or the like.
