6.0 still overheating and now another problem ?!

Make sure you are not using some weird coolant type, make sure you have the right water pump installed (two sizes on a 6.0 common for ppl to put old smaller one in on accident).

Was the coolant temperatures overheating or the engine oil temps getting too high?

Coolant temp was overheating to 235 while oil temp was in the low 200s

@@DieselTechFred I was a little confused by that because general an oil cooler is replaced when the EOT is too high. Which will appear as engine overtemp on the dash. I've seen a couple 6.Os that can loose heat or overheat under load due to the water pump impeller spinning on the shaft. Might be worth looking into if everything else is ruled out.

I had a 2012 ram 3500 drw 6.7 and the transmission gave out at 140k so I’ll just stick with my ford 😅

I had a 6.0 that would overheat and would not act right as in the fan would not kick on and it would tea kettle the water out of overflow res. Anyway would not act right. Was on a tow trip and the idler pully went out on the road. Changed it and the truck acted like a completely different truck the fan would kick on when it was suppose to that being said the heads were cooked and I eventually ended up doing the heads. But the engine was sick. Acted sick and had problems. If your going to keep it it sounds like the top end is cooked. Once they start getting hot the heads get cooked. If its not bullet proofed get that done when you do the heads get a diagnostic tool and learn at you tube school. You dont need someone telling you what we all know is that once they get hot they have problems. I have run a 6.0 for years. Unless your going to performance mod the engine get rid of the performance chip it will lead to more problems. I could set mine chip to max and pass other cars towing 36k in the PNW. Which im sure led to the last 6.0's death. I have a new one in my 550 crew centurion pu. It runs fine. But I dont try to make it a hotrod. Hope this helps...

yeah buddy, the fleet manager of a mid sized city with 40+ years experience in that cities maintenance and repair shops explained to me that the ford 6.0 is the worst engine ever built. period. that engine and the one that came after should have led to end of FORD what probably saved FORD are municipal contracts with federal govt and cities throughout the country that buy fleets of police cars, pickups , drivetrains and chasis's for busses and trucks
