Here is a little ride-along video in our T56 (Tremec Magnum F) swapped twin turbo Silverado. In the video we cover the details of our swap, some of the roadblocks we encountered during the manual conversion, and our initial driving impressions while we begin to rack up the first street miles on the new combination.

@@eviljgish9308 It's definitely a ton of fun! If you've already got the trans, you should do it! I'm working on re-doing the interior of this truck now and should hopefully have some more content out once its back together.

What did you do about wiring up the reverse lights and speedometer wiring, and wiring it to start do it sees it’s in park

I talk briefly about it in this video, but I am using the Bowler Performance T56 all-in-one harness. I pickup power, ground, and reverse light from the original automatic trans range sensor plug under the truck and the harness provides reverse light out (wired back into the existing truck connector as well). I bypass the neutral safety by jumpering the two associative wires at that plug under the truck as well. The bowler harness ties into the oem VSS wiring and provides the correct reluctor count for the truck speedo (no tuning required - 40t). The dragging/growling noise that the truck makes around 18:45 or so, I have a factory 5 speed truck that makes the exact same noise unbearably loud. Any idea what that is?

I’ve got some resonance coming up the shifter (mostly in 4th and higher) that makes some noise at certain RPM. I have chalked it up to likely being due to the solid engine mounts/steel bell housing combo. But, I may send the driveshaft out for rebalance and adjust pinion angle to see if there is any difference in noise. If that doesn’t change anything I might try going to a poly engine mount setup, but I would like to avoid that. I have read a number of threads where guys with magnum transmissions are complaining about the same type of noise in more aggressive combinations like this one. I swapped to a rubber trans mount (from poly) and it made a slight difference.

I was hesitant at first , but when I saw the video just went with it and bought one for my Silverado with Nv3500, just wondering What slip yoke did you use and u joint ? I have 4l80e driveshaft on the side i want use for the swap

Awesome, I think you'll love the swap! I used a Spicer yoke, but will probably swap that out to a stronger billet piece from TCI soon. My custom driveshaft uses 1330 u-joints.

They're tough to find, but I did swap that along with redoing the entire interior since this video was filmed.

Really dig your truck, and I'm planning on doing a similar build on mine. What shifter are you running that allowed you to keep the center console? Mine has one too and if I can keep it I'd like to.

Thanks man! I forgot to cover the shifter info in the video, but I did mean to. I am running one of Tick Performance's revolver lock shifters with the 3" offset lever in the 9 'clock position (directly towards driver). I have a 10" straight lever off of the offset arm on the shifter.

@@glennsautoperformance I'll have to look into that shifter. I've seen a few other conversions that are running a kinda janky looking setup in order to keep their consoles. Where you able to keep the cup holders and just hollow out the other side?

@@TheDrtombaker Yeah, I cut the other side out and it aligns perfectly with that shifter on the f-body/magnum f trans. Still have to install my boot, but I am running it with the cup holders in place and the clearance is perfect.

can a 06' gto t56 fit in a 00' silverado without weird shifter location?

The shifter sits a little further back on the GTO transmissions, but I do not think it would cause any trouble that could not be overcome. An offset shift lever or possibly indexing the adjustable shifter (like the Tick revolver lock) to a different position should allow you to bring it up through the console still. I was considering the GTO trans before I went with the Magnum as the GTO transmissions are one of the stronger factory T56 options (they use triple cone syncros and a more significant frictional area compared to standard F-Body T56s).

How you handle the shifter location for the center console ? What location did you use on the trans ?

Running the Tick Revolver Lock shifter with their 3 inch offset option indexed directly to the driver side. 10 inch straight lever. I'm using a Magnum F with the standard F-body rear shifter position.
