Shooting from a contorted bench rest position is maddening. I've been working on my 6.5 Creedmore loads also. Nice to see your results. I've found 140gr ELD-M, 35.6 gr Varget, CCI BR2 Primers and Hornady brass to yield sub MOA and often sub 1/2 MOA on a 22" Aero AR-10 with a criterion 22"barrel and a 22" Thompson Compass bolt action. I still can not beat the Hornady 140 ELD-M box ammo that is sub 1/2 MOA consistently.

im not sure Im a good enough shooter yet to be able to tell in that detail how much these are going to get. I need to go to a different range to find out, that table is a bad joke ! thanks man

WTF SoCal; Just stopped by from KB-32. Damned cool box "O" goodies and the scale "is" the best! I'm an OLD wildcatter and I've been a fan of the 6.mm and 6.5mm / .284 for 30 years, great round! Built a V.L.R. for prairie dogging on the round and it is incredible!

right on, thanks for stopping by ! I have fallen off the deep end of this long range PRS gun cliff and loving the ride to the preverbal bottom, its a lot of fun.

41.4 41.6 were pretty good, actually those last groups were all really good.
@WTFSoCal6 жыл бұрын
the 41.8 showed some signs of slight over pressure so I dont want to take it too far past there, but yea, the 41.5 seems like its gonna be on point ! thanks man !

i think you have narrowed your load data down considerably! You re are the right track Bro!

.5 grains off, but they work for the MPA, the 41.5 is gonna make the AI a happy lil camper !

Before I sent my 6.5 Barrel back to AI/Win Tactical, I tested 19 different charge weights. Mine was a 24" barrel. As I'm sure you know, barrels are like fingerprints - they have their own unique intersection of optimal charge weights and bullet seating depth. What I can abosolutely tell you, though, is that you are several accuracy nodes above your mid-2700fps accuracy node. Even with my 24" barrel, one of my nodes was in the upper 2800s, and I wasn't compressing the load (much, at least . . . and I was using H4350 as well). I would encourage you to push past your top load there, and you'll discover another faster (and possibly better) accuracy node.

right! i will, I was getting some cratering in the mid 42.3 and up range and didint chase it past 43... but i will carry on, the cases seemed fine but the cratering concerned me. thanks for the info

just out of curiosity, what OAL are you looking at, als o what is the OAL of the chamber to throat of your barrel? I would be interested in seeing what the difference is... I also just bought another AI (non MC) that im going to dedicate to 6.5 and put the 300WM barrel back on the MC. so will measure both 6.5 barrels i have.... again just curious,, I love getting all OCD on this geeky stuff ! thanks man !
@lytening796 жыл бұрын
When you say OAL, I'm assuming you mean "Base to Ogive?" OAL is actually a fairly useless measurement, both because the most variation in a bullet will occur in the lengths (things get a little wonky with the tips), but also because, even if all of the bullet lengths were uniform, the OAL would vary by bullet type (i.e. a 140 Berger Hybrid would have a different OAL than a 140 SMK). To answer the Chamber question . . . using a 140 Berger Hybrid in a Hornady "O.A.L. Gauge" (which is very, very poorly named), I measured the distance to my lands as 1.910. I seated mine 10 thou short. I have my data here, and my load tests ranged from 42.0 (avg about 2705 FPS) to 45.0 (avg 2953). The velocity curve flattened out (which CAN, but not necessarily will, indicate an accuracy node), on the top end at 44.4 grains. This will sound like bragging, but it's not (because I learned the entire process from someone after doing it wrong for a long time), I had ES as low as 10fps over five shot groups. They were mostly 15-25, though, but that still yields SDs of well below 10fps.

good point, i was assuming everyone on the planet used 147 eld's
@lytening796 жыл бұрын
If you're talking to competition shooters, I think you'll find that the majority are using 140 Hybrids. Not that it's conclusive proof, but try and find some for sale (and if you find some, let me know!). You should stick with the Hornady's, though, because I don't need you taking my reloading components!

Wanted to share with you I just purchased an AI AT started load development do yourself a favor try reloader 16 I use it for all my short action cartridges 6.5 Lapua and 6.5 Creedmore I have four rifles they all shoot great this is the load I came up with using Hornady ELDM 140 grain Bullets 43.8 grains Standard deviation 8 ft./s extreme spread 16 ft./s average velocity 2875 ft./s from a 24 inch barrel I seat the Bullets 25 k shorter than magazine length so I can chase the lands as that throat wears out groups are consistently .35” primer is CCI 250 it worked better then BR2 good luck I enjoy your videos I was a little bit apprehensive how about the cost of the rifle but after shooting my friends I think they’re worth every penny even though I have other custom rifles that cost me as much is great to get something that’s good straight from the factory

Awesome comment, thanks for the tip, I will for sure be trying this out ! I bought another AI AX in short action and will be trying this out on that after it is broken in. thanks for the data !

Hey Socal, Do you reload for 50 AE? I just started to collect the parts necessary, ie Dies,Brass and some bullets. What advice can you give on primers and powder? I'm not in CA so I have access to everything.
@WTFSoCal6 жыл бұрын
i have no idea about loading for 50... other than you have to use very slow powder... prolly only a few that would work well for the task. If i dont know where to start I usually will look at the load data at hogdon first and go from there.
