Thanks for the video, and for those calling for a new spotter, he actually did decent and of course he knows a ricochet is a hit.

Just recently got a 6.5 Grendel, 300 yards has been as far as I have had the opportunity to stretch it out , 1,000 yards is impressive with the little cartridge, especially with the wind blowing
@ThinkSoberly10 ай бұрын
The video is really good especially since they’re so little content on the 6.5 Grindel but instead of calling him ricochets, you should call him impacts and also at the end of the video it would be really nice if you showed the results the impact on steel. Thanks.

Man good shooting. Recommend you get a rear bag; you’ll likely see improvement.

A better spotter location is behind and just off the shooters shoulder. Their angle will be more like the shooters. Your hits are high, low, left, right or on target. There is no behind but you probably know that now. Please make another video, fun to watch and good shooting.

Those BCA uppers seem nice for the prices they charge. Did you do that camo finish yourself?
@desertdwellers72942 жыл бұрын
The 6.5 Grendel upper from BCA is great but the .450 Bushmaster I got from them needed a little work to get it to function properly. I also got a 9mm upper that I haven't decide if I like it or not yet. I also got a 24 inch.223 Wlyde barrel a couple of years ago from BCA that is good but not as good as an Anderson 24 inch.223 Wlyde barrel I have. I'm picky I guess. Anyway, as for the paintjob, yes I did it my self.

I am lucky to live in such a wide open area. Last year I ran into some guys from California out near where I shoot. They had come up here to Nevada to shoot really long range. I forget what caliber their rifles were but they were shooting out to 2400 yards.

I don't have the ability in my area to shoot past 250yds. Population density and biomass. So I have a question and I am not being a dick about it: why not have a hi-def camera maybe 50 feet away? It wouldn't work here because something luscious and green would have already started trying to adopt/mate with it.
@desertdwellers72942 жыл бұрын
In this video I do have a 1080P ( I only go as high as 1080P) camcorder about 45 feet away from the target (upper right video). I was very worried of having both a camera and a Jackery to power the camera for long periods of time so close to the bullet impacts, so it is a little far to the right and it caused a distorted angle of the impacts compared to what is actually happening. However I'm going to start moving the camera closer to center line of the target.

Your spotter blind I’m hearing hits
@desertdwellers72943 жыл бұрын
From 1000 yards we can't hear much. The camera I have at 15 yards (upper right video) is picking up the sound. The Caldwell camera system were using to spot is 20 frames per second and has a jerky video and no audio. It's designed for paper targets where the holes stay still. The Nikon P900 camera (upper left video) has much better optics than our scopes or spotting scope (why were trying the Caldwell) so at that distance it easy to miss where lighter dirt imparts are or a hit barely can be seen. The sun causes a lot of heat distortions, so again, why we're trying to Caldwell. Overall the camera system I'm using works pretty good but we do have to fine tune it. I would like to include the video from the Caldwell but I can't get it to sync up right. Even after adjusting to 30 FPS it still has the shots out of sync within a minute.

Your spotter needs to learn right from left. He kept saying left, when it was right. Hits are not ricochets.
@desertdwellers729411 ай бұрын
Yep, I do that a lot myself. Since I usually will see the slpash, I know what he means. Yet when the bullet hits thet target, it ricochets off the target, again I know what he meant.

Yeah, I got the steel four times that run. Problems we had. 1: The new steel target 16x16 inches is frickin heavy, even the 6.5 Grendel doesn't move it from 1000 yards. 2: The Caldwell camera system doesn't have the best video and no sound at all. We couldn't see the impacts on steel at all and of course could not hear anything. The sound in the video is from another camcorder placed next to the Caldwell camera. 3: The video in the upper left is from a Nikon P900 at our location. as you can see there was a much greater variance of what we were seeing from the Caldwell camera (located about 6 feet right and 10 feet lower than our shooting angle). I was a little worried having cameras and a Jackery any closer to target for obvious reasons, they're expensive). But we are working those problems out and hopefully the next long range session will be better. Thanks for watching.
