Excellent video, thanks Matt and fam. Good to see that the 12" loses marginal performance over the 18". Really appreciate you always testing the shorty barrels which others sometimes skip. Your consistent method of testing makes it easy to compare results even across videos, and the spreadsheet at the end is just the cherry on top.

I get 1" to just under groups with the aac grendel and it puts hogs down quite well.

Love my 6.5 Grendel. Damn thing is more accurate than I am. 12.5" Faxon barrel with matching BCG. Nice and quiet with Trash Panda on it.

Noice, Grendel is great round. When it comes to ammo and varieties, the more the merrier.

If I ever get around to building a ar to use as a deer rifle this might be the caliber I go with.
@ImOldGregg17 сағат бұрын
I’ve been using it for deer for years not. Really a “just right” caliber

Thanks for the review. It’s nice to see the true velocities. Makes me want a 24” barrel to get better range.

Impressive! I remember the days when there were articles discussing 6.5 Grendel VS 66.8 SPC as a possible candidate to replace 5.56. Shame both of them never quite made it to widespread use .

4:14 JK rifle kit? How you cut it? Care to share any tips or tricks? I always heard to leave a little extra space so it doesn’t affect POI as much? 30 cal hole with .262 pro would be more than ample extra room but probably less sound dampening? Are there videos on the subject?

I drilled to 23/64 or 3/8, I can't recall. I did a version of a clip I saw online where I went in .154" and I believe .154" down with a standard end mill. If you want I can email you a couple of pics. there's not a lot of data for form 1 video because YT hates that stuff.

I know you identified the first magazine you were using as a Duramag. Do you have more recommendations for reliable 6.5 Grendel mags?

I don't understand all the beef people have with Clear Ballistics gel blocks. I tested a 225gr ELD-M in 300WM for someone before they went on a Mule Deer hunt recently, and the bullet literally performed identically in both the gel and the animal.

While many insist the two gels perform exactly the same, it appears bullets expand more in the natural FBI gel than in the synthetic clear gel. In many tests where bullets don't expand in the clear gel, they do expand in the natural gel. Ammo manufacturers will tend to use the FBI natural gel when designing & testing bullets.

@donwyoming1936 Do you have any direct examples of what you're describing? I keep hearing this information, and all of articles I can find on the subject say the same thing, but nobody has any actual data. It seems to all be the same regurgitation of hearsay.

I just finished my first deer season with a 6.5 Grendel Rexus AR. It filled all my tags with Hornady 123gr ELD-M but man is that stuff pricey. I wasn't impressed with the AAC Sabre 75gr black tip 556, accuracy was very random in my 20" FNA4. 1-2" groups depending but sometimes it would be 3"+. Your results on paper are consistent with what i was getting but i was shooting from a bench no solid rest. I may try a box and see if it gives me better accuracy than what I've tried.

It's crazy that PSA/AAC can come out with all these different calibers but they still do not have a 5.45x39 option.....

I don't see a code for a lot of the links on the campsite. In particular, AAC or PSA.
