I had a geo metro and they were notorious for rusting out where the control arm mounts to the unibody, thus totaling car. My metro had a pretty good oil leak but, ironically it had no rust where the control arm bolted to the unibody. Apparently my metro had this optional rust proofing dispenser system. Lol

My fishing buddy just bought a brand new 2020 f250 king ranch 6.7 1 with in a week the rear main was leaking. Took the dealership 2 weeks to fix it because they told him the first one they installed was bad. No leaks now I just looked under it on our last fishing trip and we just pulling a 4,000 lb bay boat. He did get free oil changes for a year after he threw a fit. I just thought that was nuts for a brand new truck to be leaking that’s why I’m looking at this video. But like I told him it happens

Thanks for sharing this. You pointed out the oil leakage towards the front on top of the pan. I have wet oil on the top half of the bell housing of the automatic transmission. Any advice for tracking this down to come up with possible oil leak locations or confirm it is a rear main seal? It doesn’t look high enough for the head covers. I’m have the area(s) degreased to help. Can you point out any other possible causes? Could this happen to be something ford would be responsible for? That looks like a very costly repair. Thank you

I hear of a lot of people having to do upper oil pans but usually have never done a ccv filter which i would like to think is whats causing all these upper oil pans to leak because the engine cant get rid of crankcase pressure and goes to the weakest link or links. Maybe i'm wrong.

Is this a common problem or just an outlier? I have a '99.5 7.3 and have been led to believe that the rear main seal is rarely an issue on it. If true, how could Ford have it so well sorted on an earlier engine, then drop the ball on the 6.7?

Is it normal for it to have both oil pans leak and the rear main seal? I would think this is a bit excessive and would warrant a blow by check or pcv system health check... usually when a diesel is pushing oil out 3 different spots there is a reason.

Im just sick of the warped or cracked front timing covers leaking oil...Ford keeps saying the covers were warped from Texas Heat and not letting truck cool down. So i told ford my truck leaked at 30,000 and i let it cool down. My wifes truck leaked good enough to drip at 35,000 and she lets hers cool down. Man i did 4 in Dec. 8 in Nov...etc. I dont know whats going but the leaks were bad enough to puddle or blow oil under truck. Feels like its all i been doing for last 3 months...lol

Is there any alternative to using the installer tool? I’m currently doing my very first rear main seal on a 6.7 and I don’t have the tool… I was able to get the seal out but I don’t want to damage the new seal when installing. I was thinking about lightly tapping around the seal with a 1/4 inch extension. If I have to buy the tool then I guess that’s what I have to do. If I was doing one of these every week then I wouldn’t mind paying a few hundred dollars for the tool but like I said, it’s my first one and I don’t know when I’ll do another.

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Thank you so much for getting back to me. Dealer quoted me almost 2k for it, with additional $1600 for transmission valve body. (I am located in CA) I love working on cars, and I have a hunter lift in my garage, but I just don't feel so comfortable doing it my self. I hope everything will go smooth with the dealer, without any extra surprises. Thank's again, and I will keep watching your videos.👍
