The best on youtube, always a no bullshit, to the point video. Having never touched a cummins motor, i could just watch your videos and build one. Almost😂, but you get the point. Appreciate the content.

Having never used nitrous, I’m pretty ignorant to everything nitrous related but I feel like I learned a little in this video. Good content you’re putting out bud

Thankyou for describing the piston differences and application, should definitely do another 5.9 cr build. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an engine pull with the egt control at that power level your 5.9 had after you built it.

So much good information in this video! I will definitely be calling when its time for a fresh sled pulling motor! Hopefully you wont hold it against me that I'm running a 13MM P pump LOL!!

I don’t know if you have had similar experiences with the 04.5-07 wide bowl design, but up here in alberta, literally ever single one of those engines with anything more than 100k miles on them have blow by issues or have been rebuilt. Probably has nothing to do with the fact that everyone and their dog throws the hot tune on their trucks and beats the piss out of them here. But either way I’d imagine the piston design is the reason for that. I knew the pistons were different. Didn’t know it was this in depth but I knew they were thinner between the bowl and ring seats, and I knew the injector stray patterns were a little different. This explanation confirms my suspicions I guess. Great job explaining
@ThanksHero Жыл бұрын
Probably the in-cylinder EGR sooting up everything. Pretty sure the QSB piston was used before the 04.5-07 and is still being used on off-road applications.
@jefffedorvich9423 Жыл бұрын
@@ThanksHero yes you’re right 04.5-07 we’re the only times it was used on road though. The 6.7’s still have in cylinder egr so I doubt that’s it. I think it’s a couple things. I think it’s the hot tune beatings and then I think a lot of people try to stretch out the life of their injectors. They leak down into the piston and then as the truck burns off that fuel every time you start the truck, it gets hot. Those qsb pistons just aren’t as resilient to heat as the isb pistons

I love the transparency with your builds, Josh. I've got a core 6.7 sitting in my garage just waiting to have some more time and money to put it together for my truck. Oit of curiosity, what would a setup like this cost, just parts wise, no machine shop, labor etc?
@dbriggs17 Жыл бұрын
great video as always josh! What is best place to source a good 5.9 or 6.7 to build? What are things to look for in a buildable core?
@horsetorquesdiesel Жыл бұрын
I usually get them off eBay that way PayPal can get my money back if they are junk
Every bit of 20K sitting there, probably closer to 30K with the fuel injectors and pump plus labor.

Very cool to see what all goes into them and the options. I'm amazed you've only got 30 out there, but a unit like that I'm sure doesn't come cheap. However, making 1500 hp isn't going to be cheap. Appreciate the content and you sharing the knowledge. I especially liked the visual display with the differences for the piston bowl designs. Besides sled pulling, are there many fuel only arenas for this level of performance? I would imagine outside of that every thing else allows the use of giggle gas.

Pretty much sled pulling or people chasing micro records 😂

Why won't you install Boost line rods? I'm actually having Eric at Nolimit assemble my short block with them. HP goal is 1000hp. Great content as always!
@joshuaquilliam2887 Жыл бұрын
Guessing because he hasn't personally tested them like he has the other 3 rods. Not something I would want my name associated with either if they decide to snap.
@73cjproject Жыл бұрын
He did a video about a year ago comparing all the different rods. If you watch that you will see the differences between them and his explanation about why he doesn't care for those.
@horsetorquesdiesel Жыл бұрын
They use a small rod bolt, the cap doweling is weak. And until I test them I don’t feel comfortable selling them. Carrillo rods are extremely similar to boost line and I’ve had issues

Watching all this cummins content is got me thinking about selling my L99 F250 tow rig and find a clean 3rd gen to fix up. Just curious on a round about cost for this 1500 hp package that you built in this video plus your labor?
