I'd be interested in seeing a series like this. Going over parts section by section just like this. There is so many manufacturers at so many price points out there, as someone looking to build an engine in the future it gets kinda confusing. Great info though, had no clue the factory CR rods were fracture caps, I think I'll be looking into a set of Streetfighters for sure when I eventually build an engine for my truck.

Great content! I would love to see a tech episode about the differences with cp3 offerings between 10mm and 12mm stroker pumps and the limits as well as the pros/cons with a big single versus dual and even triple. It's impressive to me to see you can run a triple set up and actually tune it to start and idle just fine. Speaks volumes about the commonrail advantages. Thanks again for sharing the knowledge. Also what would you say is the limit to factory late 5.9 commonrail rods? As well as the limit to early 6.7 rods and is there a major difference between those two?

2:43 Do you have a few recommendations for something much bigger than oem for an 06 truck? Considering my eventual turbo set up this probably should be upgraded too. In your situation I would put a small square of sheet metal use jb and press it to it oozes out. Repaired a few radiators like that and they held for years.

Does the early 04 have the oil cooling pockets in the pistons? Also do all of the 6.7 years have a weak powdered metal rods or did they improve something over the years?

@SledPrn62 жыл бұрын
My question is what rods would you recommend for 24v 5.9 @500-700hp range that is a Daily driver that hauls occasionally, and drags the sled once or twice a year at the pulls? Truck isn't there yet hp wise but want to get it there eventually. Granted I'd prefer putting in rods that can handle well above that hp range to have a buffer zone, but reality is i'll most likely put in rods I can afford that will handle that power. Also I wouldn't mind seeing more content of you guys working on customer trucks, as I'm sure many others would enjoy that as well.

Have you ever "custom mixed your fuel"? My first (and best feeling) attempt START WITH HALF A TANK OF DIESEL ONLY 20% nitromethane, 12% lubricant, 68% methanol 1.5oz/gallon, grow a brain and use a calculator. Get it right. MegaCab Mix (also very good, not the helicopter blend - a different bottle) 15% nitromethane, 18% lubricant, 66% methanol 1.5oz/gallon here too but he went with a full tank. 10 gallons in your tank? 15oz of fuel. Simple math. Don't mess this up or you'll end up with a firecracker.
@horsetorquesdiesel2 жыл бұрын
No, and I won’t, pump #2 is working just fine, we tried some blends on the engine dyno, the gain isn’t worth the cost
@williamcoker98732 жыл бұрын
Rgr, just barnstorming. As you probably know the nitrogen in n2o is non combustible, and the real stored energy. Most gas burners reduce timing . Guess there is a safe timing ban in diesels. Thanks for all you do. Keeping it going.
