This is one of the better long-range videos I've watched. It brings me back to the late '70s-early '80s when my buddy and I shot rock chucks in eastern WA. He used a .243 Win and I used a .223, both in Rem 788s. I distinctly remember my .223 having an advantage as I could see the bullet hit and correct windage and elevation on the second shot to blow those rock chucks to pieces. My buddy had a much harder time seeing bullet hits and relied on my spotting to make corrections. I'm seriously looking at a 6mm ARC in a bolt action to take full advantage of the cartridge. The load data in the AR version does not impress me.

That is great information for those who have yet to choose a caliber or need a new barrel for PRS. Based on the information presented I think the 6 ARC is potentially the best choice. 1) Least felt recoil of the three making target splash the easiest to see. 2) Handloads not absolutely necessary and factory ammo readily available. 3) Twice the barrel life over the 6mm Creedmoor 4) Lastly, quieter than the others

@@bshadrick I might caution a lil bit on long range hunting, IMHO anything past 400/500 yds can sometimes be a little bit questionable on a clean kill, Now, I know and heard of longer kill shots at great distance, and that's fine or perhaps more braggadocios. BUT we never hear of the long shots gone wrong with wounded or disguarded game....and I Know that happens way to often. If I can't get with in good kill range, than i've failed miserably as a western region hunter. I had my .280 built for long range predatory hunting ( wolves, coyotes, hill cats etc) and still maybe go to a F class shoot if the urge hits me....or shoot an Elk, If need be and its the only rifle I got handy at the moment. I'm not a rich man, and I was only gonna sink this kinda money once in my life, so therefore I tried to pick a multi use cartridge.

It looked like you had a lot of feeding issues with the 6ARC. Why Hornady would launch a product without a viable mag solution is beyond me. I even contacted Magpul and was told they have no plans to make a mag for it. The cartridge may be the best thing since instant grits, but until someone designs a new mag for it that really works, it's a NoGo. I'm not giving up on the cartridge. I truly want to see it succeed. But that's the kind of thing that will cost you a match or even your life depending on how you plan to use it.
@scottduffy55523 жыл бұрын
I think it was primarily designed for use with the AR-15 platform. Ive seen enough vids on the 6mm ARC out of the AR and feeding isn’t an issue on those. On a bolt action I think you are correct...they need to design a specific magazine for that platform. It’s ballistic capability is fantastic so I’m pretty sure you’ll see plenty of products around this round in the next few years. Not sure if you knew, but I read that the department of defense adopted this caliber about a year prior to being released to the public...most likely in an AR platform by whatever unit had adopted it, because that is what the 6mm ARC is designed for. If the military likes it enough for use in the hands of our servicemen then it’s a good sign for us!
@majeedbabaei55556 ай бұрын
6ARC originally was designed and developed primarily for special military applications. This cartridge in an AR-15 18" would of yield much better thermal ballistics as an SPR than our 5.56. It was designed to be ran in a gas gun, not bolt rifles. Don't understand why would you want to run it in a bolt rifle, there are many standardized cartridges now that are well supported and yield much better results with similar recoil. Also, want better recoil management? Try more aggressive brakes. That's a different can of warms though.

The most popular cartridges are the 6br cartridge family (6 Dasher, 6BR, 6BRA, 6BRX, 6GT, 6 Comet, and ETC) and 6mm creedmoor. Usually it's newer shooters that run 6.5 creedmoor because of the wide variety of factory chambered rifles.
