I use Anky underwater. They harvest fast underwater for stone, and oil. I have friends that laughed and said the Anky isn’t an underwater creature. It moves swiftly underwater. I have mine leveled up and he runs fast, and swims fast.

The parasaur is completely underrated. As soon as you can make a bolla, you can knock out a lower level parasaur with your bare fist. Tame with berries, then he can carry your stuff, gather berries, alert you to danger and provide a decoy so you can get away from a raptor early on. The saddle is only level 9.

Trike for me is still the best low level Dino. Changes the world for you as you can use it to harvest berries, thatch and a little wood. On top of that it has great carry weight when you starting out and also, with its knockback, is a tough cookie in a fight. I still use mine at lvl 80 to take down Raptors (Alpha also), Sabers, Scorpions, Hyenas, etc and as a metal carrier / protection on the mountain.

Watching this even though I'm max level... sp mode puts a multiplier on experience and I spent a lot time grinding away my insomnia and building my 3 bases and two outposts... so I maxed out and had none of these except pteradon and a bunch of dilos. Then started watching Phlinger and collecting theriz. But I finally got my equus and bear a couple days ago. I got the whole roster ^_^

For the Pteranodon Saddle, the Chitin/Keratin can easily be farmed from any Trilos you see on the beaches. If you're a low level you're probably on the beaches anyway, so kill every Trilo you can find :)

Don't know if you forgot this or did not know this, but believe it or not, they also provide protection serving as live bait distractions. Throw one in any direction, and any carnivorous dinosaur chasing you will stop to hunt the dodo, giving you time to escape. You could also throw it down into a pit you can get in, but can't get out. Great for many things.

Just a tip for getting the chitin for the pteranodon saddle: tame a few dilo’s and send them to attack any animal that gives you chitin. They have a much higher chance to get chitin from kills then your character

Sarco should be an honorable mention. It can be used as a raft for your tribe it’s faster than a raft. Also it’s awesome for exploring the ocean early on! Getting a sarco and some soup allows you to get silicon pearls early on so you can jumpstart the later game.

I do like farming with the anky, but it's just SO. FREAKING. SLOW. If you live near metal they are great, but actually trying to travel anywhere with them is just too painful, unless you have them parked right next to a raft farming anything far from your base is almost unbearable

About the carrots you can plant them but if you have a trike you can make a trike saddle (they are easy to make) and you can collect loads of carrots from jungle ferns while riding them and trikes are easy to tame as well :)

You really need a beelzbufo so you can start getting cementing paste and it is a really fast Dino and it has a pretty good swim speed but to get cementing paste you need to kill either magnuras titanama drones and I think araneo and you can get there saddle at 38

Lucy Fawn you won’t get the saddle for either of those for a little while, I just started a new ragnarok game while I’m teaching my friend the ropes and I have the same problem with taming a theri at around level 25. As you’d expect it isn’t a very high level so I’m just trying to level it up before I get a saddle for it and I suggest you do too.

Pretty solid list. I feel like equus are too difficult to find and realistically they're more of a 40-50 mount like the direbear. You wont really have enough carrots grown before that point and you'll need your pteranodon (saddle at 38) to find a decent one. You probably are used to 3 or 4x tame rates, so a few carrots will do the trick. However, on 1x it will take around 25 carrots just for a level 50 equus. All that being said, they are quite nice once you have them tamed up!
