Just an FYI, snipers don't always hold their breath. They wait for the natural pause in the breathing cycle after the exhale. That inaccuracy in most if not all FPSs has always driven me nuts.

Shredder212Films Ideally what you want to do if there's time before the shot is taken is to take 2/maybe 3 slow deep breaths (this will properly oxygenate your muscles and will prolong the amount of time it takes for your muscles to be fatigued and start shaking/aching) and on the last one during your exhale you will then drag that one out. About halfway through is the best time possible for you fire. I obviously realize that it can't always work this way, I'm simply sharing the details of the ideal situation/scenario. :D

For a video about sniping in games, i'm kinda surprised, that you didn't split it into two parts. One for the games where bullet always hits the middle of the crosshair, and second part for the games that actually contain bullet physics, so you have to learn how to use the various scopes etc... It's weird to see Arma or Sniper Elite mixed in with Farcry or Silent Scope. Totally different experience.

I find FC3/BD/4's "very hard" to be very easy, but I still find it to be pretty fun now and then.

thumb up for including Arma, and for the nut shot at the end. I'd like to add that in Arma, you also need to grasp the "breath" mechanic shooting regular assault rifles. Your guy can fix the sight on the target for so long before needing to inhale. I know, you simply hold right mouse button for the shot, but it's not an easily acquired skill.

Not many people played it, But Delta Force: Black Hawk down on original Xbox was a fantastic sniper game. The maps had no borders and you could get a mile out and had to adjust for bullet drop. So fun.

FragHero, I have both of your top two picks: "Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2" and "Sniper Elite III" for the XBox360. Great games. In both games, one must think before one acts and always be aware of one's surroundings. I thought the graphics and attention to details in both games are fantastic. I have played the campaigns over and over. (I do not, and have no interest, in playing online or multi-player.) In fact, after I go home from the library today, I intended to play some more SEIII again. (I have used all the available sniper rifles from start to finish on the "Sniper Elite" or "Custom" levels. A lot of fun!) I also have BattleField 4 (and again, only play the campaign,) and I usually play with a sniper rifle as my main weapon. I have played and completed all three levels in each of the seven missions. Unlike the other two games, I think that BF4 uses simple ballistics; meaning that the game only corrects for bullet drop. (I hear that some of the bullet drops for some of the rifles do NOT match reality. Earth's 9.8 m/s^2.) Some of my other complaints about BF4 is that the campaign is way too short and you can not get the Intervention and L115 sniper rifles in the campaign mode. (I think EA and Dice do this to punish us campaign only players.)

With milsim mod like ACR and other mod, you need a spotter to check your wind speed, elevation, distance and humidity in air then you need to check a grid to get the perfect zeroing.

Sniper Ghost Warrior and Sniper Elite seem the most realistic. I tried both, and I found Ghost Warrior more to my taste. The only reason Arma 3 sniping is cool is because you can really take those distance shots, and we're talking hundreds of meters.

I got Sniper Elite 3 on ps4 in the summer, it was on sale I think, and it's a good game. I particularly enjoyed the sniping in MGS5: Phantom Pain. The scope for customisation and the scale of the battlefield led to some great sniping moments for me. Modifying a tranquiliser rifle for long range, non lethal, takedowns was especially satisfying.

1st Sniper Elite III, max dificulty and no holding breath beacause it shows the indicator where the bullet will hit. 2nd Arma III (or II) with realism mods. It's open world, making it incredibly difficult because enemies are everywhere, literally. 3rd Sniper Ghost Warrior. Clunky mechanics and markers above the enemy reduce realism.
