Received it today, purchased through Amazon and I must say this device is fire. Wouldn't even notice that it's 6-bit. I'm a leftie, but I had no issues with setting the tablet up. Had a small problem with pressure sensitivity both on Paint Tool SAI and PS, but I managed to fix it by reinstalling the driver. The tablet itself is better than I expected and worth every cent. I have a Wacom Intuos5, but wanted to switch to a display tablet. Seeing as Wacom display tablets are too expensive for me (I'm a college student), I wanted to invest in a "Wacom alternative". I've been looking for a display tablet for months and your review really helped me in deciding myself for a Gaomon PD1560. I love it so far - //P.S. Who noticed Gaomon is a digimon's name? x'D

Whoa, this was pretty awesome of you to make a week later review. Thanks so much! I am very interested in the Huion Kamvas 156-GT V2 compared against the Gaomon PD1560. Both of them seemed really equal in terms of specs, just the Gaomon is cheaper but I heard some people said the build quality on the Gaomon is a bit meh, even though it looked pretty good to me! And the Huion one I mention has the best pen to screen feel because it has the thinnest glass out of all the cintiq alternative tablets right now, so very little parallax. As well as apparently the Huion the pen is super good. So if you can do a review of the Huion Kamvas 156-GT V2 in the future that would be amazing!~

Every other cheap brands literally use Huion's technology, remade or remake. Some of them are little bit "better" with some additional features.But if you look carefully you'll see that this model is actually remake clone of Huion's GT-156HD. I would not recommend buying alternate brands except if they are same as original "Huion" or somehow better or same for lower price.

I got this tablet a couple of months back and have been enjoying it BUT I have a noticeable issue: colors. I have calibrated my main monitors and compared them to a lot of other displays, my TV, my laptop, other people's computers, and I'm fairly sure my main displays have pretty solid colors, even though they're simple TN displays. But Gaomon is very noticeably warmer for me, and I've spent a couple of hours tweaking brightness, contrast, colors values, and couldn't achieve the desired result. The difference is very very clear; I once drew in color I thought was brown only to move the image to a different display and realize it's very noticeably greenish. Could that be the protective film? It has frosted screen protector, and I'm wary of taking it off because I'm sure I'll scratch it, but maybe it's the culprit.

On the color display, I've noticed my Gaomon seems to have difficulty showing blues. Like, when my monitor shows a very intense cyan hell, my Gaomon shows just an intense but pleasing dark blue (bluer than cyan), is that normal? It's like everything on the Gaomon is just more pleasing. Which is great but I don't want to draw and later find my pic has eyebleeding colors or something

Ouch. 6 bits (EDIT : Kudos for the company, though. They don't hide it, it is listed in specs. Sth rare to find in other brands, where they just hide those values). It's interpolating a lot, some how, with error diffusion technique or sth. You might end up seeing noise with very specific graphics, or cuts in gradients in some cases.... Me I'm even angry for not having a display port video card so that I can use my NEC in its supported 10 bits (and calibrate it so...) . Really, no display for sth graphic should be 6 bits, these days...It can get noticeable with several different gradients at the same time in screen.(not just one, or neither the basic rgb gradient tests) I worked many years ago with these LCDs at companies. In practice, the major issues you would find - those were obviously WAY worse than this monitor, as tech has evolved- were things like getting crazy with a tone not stepping smoothly as you paint, to finally realize is the monitor not being able to show it - in the file things are happening, you can check it opening in another desktop- , or a drop shadow of the subtle kind being like cut in the fadings, while is not, in reality.... or noise or cuts in gradients. You don't see them in most scenarios, but if it is 6 bits, issues will show up sooner or later, imo....

I guess the colorspace/ gamut is also very important here. Apparently this device has 72% NTSC which aprox. equals 100% sRGB. A big amount of laptop displays don't have that for example :^) I think that the dithering algorithm is so good that you don't see an ongoing noise pattern. But yeah, I'd definitely would rather get a 10bit (or at least 8bit display) with 90% Adobe RGB.
@3polygons6 жыл бұрын
Without being in any way related with any company (wish I was! freelancer's lone wolf life is complex, lol) I could add to the debate that there are models having that wider support of color Adobe RGB gamut. The 16 Pro (excuse me if I don't remember well each company's models names) from XP Pen I think supports (in theory, they say that, but for every product, you don't get full security of that until seeing some serious testing reviewers where they used specific hardware to measure things) around 92% of Adobe RGB. And the 15.6 model from Artisul, 94 %. This is NOT the norm. Till, now, the non pro products tend to be around 72 % NTSC, as much. But that's becoming too short/poor to work with color to get some serious accuracy. Also, this is not.... I mean, it doesn't _HAVE_ to be terrible. I mean, if one is "just" (I mean in terms of color accuracy needs) an illustrator, or a comic creator, even if being a full time freelancer, can deal with a device like this, IF calibrates by hardware well the display and has neutral lighting (6500k bulb(s), or 5200k at least) in the room, no extra lighting, and no colorful/color saturated walls in the room. I know, as my monitor, being in the mid-professional gama, reaches "only" 100% sRGB, not really ~90 % Adobe RGB, as I would like. A monitor like this, not calibrated, and even more important, with bad lighting in the room, can end in misleading color in screen, in a perceptual way (as huge as seeing a magenta-ish red logotype looking like a orange-ish red. Real life case, not a random example...). Software calibration, even that which is included in Windows (or a third party utility) is fine for a very raw first starting point for huge aberrations, but is tons better a calibrator like colormunki or my preferred, i1 Display Pro. Two different brands, but both pretty inexpensive. One needs to get into these matters and learn several concepts, but is sth that can be done by anyone using a bit of time. And then , get the habit to calibrate every month or so, as monitors do change with time.... I have even seen poor monitors giving reasonable results, if the graphic person knows where the aberrations are happening, and/or if there are uniformity lighting errors (making as bad things as showing a color DIFFERENT depending on the area of the screen...Happened to me at a certain job...but I knew... ;) ) , or lighting leaks near the lcd borders, or etc, etc . All these issues are totally non acceptable for a photo lab, or any serious color checking department in most high end industries. For an illustrator whose client is anyways printing in cheap POD (print on demand) services, usually using digital printing, non CMYK based workflows, even thes print companies often just asking for a "jpeg" as a final file (ouch) instead of a PDF, EPS or TIFF... I have realized even that for those services even just a fully sRGB compliant workflow can get more accurate results, in some cases...! Unluckily, the info about if the monitor is 6 bits, 8 bits or 10 bits (I doubt there's any 10 bits in this Cintiq alternatives, among other reasons, not so many mid end video cards with display ports, or mother boards with it, or the target users knowing what the heck is that) seems to be never present. But specs can be compared: for example, both Gaomon and XP-PEN have a 1000:1 contrast ratio, while Artisul's have a 700:1 ratio (this can end up in less capability in showing subtle dark or light tones, and could help the appearance of dithering or banding, too. Still you can find monitors doing much a better work with a 700:1 ratio than others with 1000:1, as implementation counts a lot... but in the paper, this is a very huge difference.) The lag thing... while the pen counts on a 266 rps ratio in the XP-Pen pro, in Artisul it doesn't even say, and the Gaomon says is a 233 rps. Anyhow, this is probably important, but I'd say anything above 200 rps is somewhat a safe value (and counts on a 5k resolution grid, so I'd be just happy about it...). A very important spec is the refresh rate in the screen, as this can lead to blur in games, but as these tablets are for drawing and graphics, the issue could be for checking documentation - very noticeable while scrolling text, or pages with reference images - checking a video intro, or simply, moving around a window or box with the mouse/pen. The Gaomon has a refresh of 25 ms, while the Artisul D16's is 19 ms, and the XP-PEn counts on 14ms, much more in the better line. To add a bit more data, the famous Huion brand has a recent model having a terrible refresh of 30 ms ! At the comparable size of 15.6. Curiously, has a much better value in its 22 inches (my favorite ratio of size/price/pro usage), with only 14 ms, in its Kanvas 221 Pro model (but 72% NTSC... :s ) . Still, all these specs, for the good and the bad aspects.... to me are not that valuable, as I have seen a ton of monitors being tested by labs that check that the said value for A or B feature that a brand ensures to have in a specific product...during the tests that varies wildly. And I mean... a lot. Usually, a deluxe brand, like Wacom, or Apple, HP, Dell... tend to care a lot for these numbers to not differ widly in real life testing of the majority of units... But it happens, a lot, and I have learnt not to trust too much in the brand's good names. And more in professional testing publications. Specially X-bit labs (seems it is not live anymore? sad...) , TFT Central ( www.tftcentral.co.uk ), and SOME deep reviews of monitors at Tomshardware (ie, www.tomshardware.com/t/monitors/ ) . And there was an amazing one, best of the best, German one, I can't remember the name, now...(I'm not German, tho) And most of all... the price is key in many scenarios. The Gaomon is offering you 8192 levels of pressure, 233rps for a 5k something resolution in the grid (this is key to consider the RPS as good, as a low resolution grid would make the good rps spec way less of an advantage, due to accuracy problems) , and at least 100% (aprox.) sRGB workflow (like mine, and with a hardware calibrator, I have zero probs, I don't work for photo laboratories) , and according to Borodante (one of the very few reviewers I trust to be fully unbiased and honest) it seems it feels well, he IS a professional illustrator, he has no serious issues in practical use of this device --> this worth millions as a testimony, more than specs. Same reason why I tend to hear better what colleagues tell me about a piece of hardware than what the marketing pdf says. And the gaomon is only (in the two amazon entries I checked) 370 euros, while the xp-pen pro 16 is 499 euros, all in my country's Amazon....and the artisul D16, I couldn't find in Amazon in euros for my country, but in their site store is 499 US $. So, I guess cheaper than the XP Pen pro one, but surely more expensive than the Gaomon. Which perfectly matches the pros/cons I just listed about these models. Is often all related to pricing, and what is your budget. For a ton of users the Gaomon specs are more than enough. I probably would go with the XP Pen Pro 16, but have read reports of still being a bit of a line wobble with it... I'll wait till a model is free of that (maybe it needs to be battery free for that, I dunno if happens due to that tech). Oh, and Artisul is preparing as a first, a 22 inches model. THAT is really interesting to me... Without considering the wobble, present in almost all alternatives (edit: some reviewer has said to notice less wobble with the artisul models, hence my interest in their incoming 22 model), I'd already would go for the XP Pen Pro model.... But that's me, and my specific needs with color. I'm all for 22 inches for an all-day drawing illustrator, so I'm looking at the several brands, hoping that one produces a 22" one with less or no line wobble, better support of the Adobe RGB gamut, decent contrast ratio (~ 1000:1), decent refresh (~ 14 ms, better if not higher), Just ok RPS (233 and above, better if 266) , matte screen, cables in the side, (but I don't totally need function keys on the board, I know am alone there. The wheel is useful, tho, in wacom models)... if the brands are near to produce that or not... I dunno... but they've almost got it already with the 16" models, so I'd bet is gonna happen soon... BTW, and related to my last paragraph... Borodante, if you get to check at least this last line of my wall of text... In the coming soon of that mysterious new 22 model at Artisul page... First time I see a solution of this specific kind for the problem of slipping that you had with your tablet. Not sure of how useful that physical design would be, tho. And zero specs about this model yet, also... for now : artisul.com/tablet-stylus/d22/ hehe, look at the bars below the tablet, to avoid slipping when the tablet surpass the length of the table...maybe they watch your videos !! :D At the moment, I have no brand preferences (other than Wacom, but at those prices...lol) so, I'm open to go for the best model... Whoever produces it. And if not, just back to a Wacom Intuos Pro, latest gen. But would love to test alternating my current intuos pro 4 XL workflow with a pen-display, see if I can speed up drawing, inking or painting sessions, so.

Most consumer displays have 6bits even if they say 8bits. That's not a problem unless you work as professional colorist or something. In which case you wold have a 10bits enterprise-grade display.
@3polygons6 жыл бұрын
@geth270 About the consumers, that is very true when you work for screen as a target (and indeed, there I'd have more reasons to use Gimp, as IMO Affinity Photo, CSP or krita are a bit more ready for working with CMYK workflows than Gimp) , not so true when the 80% of your work is to be printed. Even for screen, there are ways to ensure things go right for those users, screen media : Mostly converting to a sRGB profile tends to be good to go, and you still have the capability for accurate coloring for print. That said, for digital POD printers, the usual cheap ones, is even safer to just go for sRGB workflows. But imo, is too much of a limit for the global situation for a person working for print. I've worked with hardware with less accuracy in color in the past, and yep, I can color correct, vary levels, gama, curves, whatever. But this you can do it as well with better hardware, it is just starting from a poorer base. And it depends on the quality you will be required to provide. Often the fix by Gimp or any other software wont accurately compensate, even in the most pro hands. I mean, if your hardware allows the better, you can easily export for the more common monitors or whatever output by just ensuring the profile thing. but it is best that you can have real control over color and accuracy in general. I know this by experience....
@3polygons6 жыл бұрын
@1idd0kun I indeed have had at my table two 10 bits monitors (NEC and Dell specific for graphic design, the "pro" lines, quite expensive), not any more as needed to sell hardware in a bad month. In fact to work as a colorist, for a photo lab or any other similar profession, I'd only have the chance to have a high end Eizo or something of that level. I mean, I do have had issues with colors even with mid-high end monitors just due to having bad lighting (just regular bulbs, that is) in the room (and back then, yet no calibrator by hardware). It always depends on the level of color accuracy your client(s) needs. Lately this has changed a lot for me, things are kind of more relaxed in that matter with people am dealing with now... But I know is not just a matter for the very high end colorists, sadly. A graphic designer or illustrator (I am both, also do pixel art and 3D gigs) can have serious issues if required certain level of color accuracy at a given point.

I take it, you would recommend this over the Huion GT 191 ?
@3polygons6 жыл бұрын
It does seem to me that this model is more modern than that Huion's, but specs are very similar (I'd suspect from the 3000:1 contrast ratio in the Huion 191. That usually means is interpolated values, so, surely quite worse contrast ratio than the physical 1000:1 from this Gaomon. Refresh time is the same for both (25 ms, bad)) .Levels of pressure, 8192 for both (good). Consider they use same resolution, 1920x1080, which is good, but can mean: too tiny menus in some apps in the gaomon's (maybe, dunno) or seeing too much of a pixel in the 19 inches one. I'd be to think tho is not an issue in any of these cases. Both pens have exact rps, 233 (but for the HUION, I don't know the tablet resolution, so, the rps is less of an advantage if it is low... The gaomon value is good (5080 LPI ), so they don't hide it.). Angles of view are the same, and both are IPS screens (good). If anything, i prefer the ports included in the Huion: DVI,HDMI,VGA (to be fair, in a larger device (19 > 16) you have more room for ports!). I for one would prefer the 19 - 22 range over a 16 inches one, most of the times. But it depends on your planned usage. but probably would not go for the Huion 191. Rather Huion's Kanvas 221 Pro, quite a good model. Or the incoming Artisul 22 (the one I'm more interested in, by now, for the quality in the 15 model, and the more wobble-free pens).
@Peteru696 жыл бұрын
The 8192 levels of pressure is useless in both if you choose to go below -1 in their pressure settings because it'll cut off half of your pressure for what ever reason, so you'll start a brush stroke at 50% opacity and brush size (if you have transfer and brush size on pen pressure). Happens on both of them and it's pretty horrible. You can work around it, but generally Wacom does this better with much less sensitivity. I would pick the Huion GT-191 over this, slightly bigger so I can sit slightly further from the screen and work. Which is important to me since both these screens are bright and will rape your eyes if you put your nose into the screen. They are very similar in both software and hardware. One has smaller screen but better cable placement (not a problem for me anyway). I'm still inclined to say that if you don't have nvidia issues with blown out grey/black colors, the Huion has better contrast. I have the nvidia glitch, but still choose to do the work-around and use the GT-191. If I had been able to afford a new Wacom Cintiq Pro (like either a 16 or a 24 inch one), I would go with Wacom. Even if Wacom is just an overpriced brand, having no parallax, good screens and good pressure settings, completely makes up for it if you can afford it. On top of that, touch and tilt are good functions even if people say they don't use it. I'd gladly pay double for less parallax and better sensitivity settings. Unfortunately Wacoms products are three/four times the price. Go Gaomon or Huion, it's just up to preference. Gaomon got some nice things going for it, but with obvious sacrifices that has the Huion higher on my list personally.
@3polygons6 жыл бұрын
I fully agree that between two similar decent products, size wins every time. Not just for the eyes, back and neck pain, also as you have WAY more space to work (with whatever the intuos and a usual 23 - 27 inches screen), space to "breath" less crammed stuff, easier to go for large compositions/scenes, and very importantly, less need to work zoomed-in. In this case not so much, as resolution is the same, but i still prefer bigger menus/icons/buttons to point at, and less "claustrofobia" (if said so in English) sensation. I have worked with a 12 inches cintiq, and while that's way smaller than 16, I asume 16 is only a bit better, and it was some horrible 8 months, luckily could sell it... If I finally ever buy a pen-display again, will be only for specific tasks, short time sessions. For heavy work, totally agree, intuos all the way (golden, best purchase for a pro: intuos pro Large, Paper or not.). People is extremely overrating pen-displays. While really, you were spot-on in there.... Nothing is more truth than this : " _is important to me since both these screens are bright and will rape your eyes if you put your nose into the screen._ " TOTALLY. Even while there are already - and trust me, as time passes, there will be a ton more, with so many alternatives making a market saturation almost, and hobbyists not yet very aware of the issues of long time hours sessions health issues, specially through the years! - testimonies of ppl saying having to go back to older tablets, due to back and neck pain, etc... the BIGGEST issue is the eyes. Is looking to a powerful LCD REALLY CLOSE. A freaking powerful light all day at less than 30 cms. I know how bad is that. I'm 45 now, and my eyes would be a ton better (I had extremely good eyesight, and now can't even read the small font in the supermarket products without glasses) if I hadn't gone for completing like 5 graphic content creation profiles with such intensity. And this while using the best material, non pen displays, monitors in ideal lighting, low emision, etc, etc. A pen display working 24/7, often needing to be way bright in the right point of color calibration... no thanks, or not for all day. That's why I am a huge fan of the Intuos Pro line, or even the cheapo intuos medium. You get best quality in the actual pen behavior, for less than a lot of these pen display alternatives. But the hype is in the freaking paint -over-the-screen thing. Yet so, one of these devices, if used only for inking, or project stages were the speed up in them is clearly evident, if used eventually, never getting ride of your trusty regular intuos / intuos pro, that's a solution I'd go for. And probably will, as planning to buy a second machine to have one machine for the 3D renders, other for doing my more frequent work , 2D, illustration. All am saying is, yep, these things are gorgeous, and I definitely want one for me, for specific tasks use. But ppl please don't get ride of your trusty regular tablet, even less treat it badly as "anyways you are switching soon to a pen-display" . You might discover that a good formula is keeping both (my XL ain't going anywhere unless the freaking cable breaks (last model that had it attached, sigh)), and relax eyes, neck and back often by leaving the long hours sessions for the good old and trusty intuos.

3polygons I'm 45 as well and can't read fine print without reading glasses either anymore ' always had excellent vision younger , but unlike you haven't put in nowhere near as many hours of close screen work as you have.A lot of degradation is age related too , no doubt it would be worse if I stared close distance at a screen all day for work, but very valid points you make !
@3polygons6 жыл бұрын
Indeed, (and btw, my problem is not extreme, and I guess I could get surgery to remove for some years the issue) the majority of doctors I consulted say is due to the age and other matters. But there was a portion of them that had a different opinion. And one, many years ago, recommended no more screens use than 6 hours a day, globally!. Today, I can't do that and...be able to eat, sadly. But yep, several precautions are more than recommended here. I understood after 8 months of using it that a cintiq - there were no alternatives back then- could be less healthy for very long hours. Even for those not noticing it yet (and anyway, like with tablets, two hours of use a day, with proper breaks every 45 mins or 1 hour, shouldn't do any bad to anyone, imo)... Since years, I take care of all : room lighting (young ones use to set dark room to watch movies or games... BAD idea!, that contrast is not good on your eyes! ), low intensity in the monitor, good distance and good body/neck position. My main point is one needs not to become paranoid - that ain't healthy either ;) - with this or any other matter, but some good habits are a must, IMHO. :) Also, people working digitally, and this seems is going to grow (and we'll see what happens with robots in an even near future...more and more professions digitally based), not the opposite, also do dedicate a ton of time - I do- to social media and etc. Cutting on this not only helps productivity, I'm a strong believer on direct human contact and getting in contact with fresh air (if not hugely polluted, lol) being a ton better than any digital poor substitute. But it also adds to the count of daily hours with screens (and phones are bad too, LED screens, tiny fonts and tiny screens, forced positions, etc...plus the issue of psychological dependency that is starting (according to official sources) to trigger in many (young & old) ppl.. I don't have this issue by any stretch, happily, I barely use phones (other than for...actually just talk, lol)) , which even the administrations of several countries are warning about ... and kids and teens are the first groups that the experts say we should be worried about, but imo, it applies to the whole population. Like everything , the right answer tends to be somewhere in the middle, balance. Going to an extreme, specially looking for sources about a matter in doubtful places on the internet makes people go to those extremes in health stuff, or politics, or whatever. If anything, is better to only rely on solid sources, like actual doctors, or official information, and in any case, reliable, well backed info. I mean, scare mongering about health isn't my cup of tea, either. And as you say, age has a lot to do here, hehe. But I always warn the younger ones (quite a lot in youtube) to have some clues about some risks , or simply, things that they can do better than I did (mostly as I do think they can save money buying an intuos, pro or not, starting from medium size, or an alternative brand similar to that, non pen display, use the money for other important matters, students can't afford these expensive display devices...and..they don't have to, to make great art)...Of course, freedom is the right to get things wrong in each one's own way, is my preferred definition of the concept, but still, if I can avoid issues to other people, at least I'll try, just mentioning some things... :)

A lot of consumer LCD screens are using 6bit although they claim to be 8bit (especially older and/or cheaper models, they're interpolating). I started noticing those issues when I switched to a 10bit display. Like the 30FPS vs 60FPS vs 144FPS debate, it's a matter of getting used to it.

In my case when the driver "grays out" during painting the pen stops working. I have to restart it manually. No big deal but still slightly annoying. I purchased my tablet right after watching your original review. Overall I'm happy with it :) Thanks, Dante!

Great review Boro! Hey, if you ever feel like experimenting with more tablets I'd love to see your opinion on the XP-Pen Artist15.6. It looks like it has many of the same specs as this one with a similar price of about $360 on Amazon. I mean, I don't want you to buy it, (Lol you have so many tablets already!) But if you wanted to contact the company for a review model that would be epic. I value your opinion so much. I'm genuinely thinking of investing into one of these 15.6 inch models myself. Your review of this one quickly changed my mind though. I was dead set on buying the XP-Pen, but now, I'm not so sure. Anyway, if you ever get tired of the Gaomon, maybe try it out. I know you have SO MANY videos to do but, I appreciate all of them. (I have a habit of buying the stuff you review, even if I don't need it. lol) Thanks for being awesome Boro.

Hi. I have an intuos pen CTL 480, very basic model, no touch, no screen. I'm thinking of making a leap and getting a pro tablet. I know you said that you don't use the touch-zoom feature (since your software doesnt support it), but its very useful. Why not switch to photoshop then? I zoom in/out all the time. Sorry for a noob question, but what are advantages of tilt support? We've seen you review quite a few tablets, but what is the tablet you actually use in your day-to-day? Did you switch to Gaomon after reviewing it?

Hi Borodante . Im a new Artist that's still learning . I wanted to bought a Huion Kamvas 191 . But after watching and researching about Gaomon PD 1560 , Im considering about it , All the price / QUality that i've read . watched / and asked about . Gaomon is better than Huion Kamvas 191 ( it's on review / every1 eles opinions , i havent used any of them ) . So im considering about it's lifespan . is Gaomon working really good in long time ? i mean after 2 or 3 years. Will it still work the same . or it will have some / or lots of glitches ? or it will eventually broke cause of using too munch . I'm still a bit not felling so good for this just because of the fact that it's China ! Please give me some advice . Thanks so munch

Mine has a really annoying problem with the colors when I paint on this monitor then switch it back to my main monitor the colors are noticeably different. Especially with the blues, sometimes i think im painting in blue only to find out when I switch to my main monitor that it an almost purple or violet once it was almost a redish color, really fustrating to deal with. I even sent the files to my phone to make sure it wasnt just my monitor to confirm that the colors are off. It annoyed me so much im planning to sell it and going back to a screenless tablet for now. I know its really picky but it was just really frustrating plus I feel like using the other tablets just flow better for me. But other than the screen parralax that also annoys me its a solid tablet also solid review if this was out when i bought it wouldve definetly used your affiliate link!

Sorry for the necro, but I just got this device as my first digital art tablet. I've only really begun to mess with it, but do you have any recommendations on things I should know since I haven't owned something like this in over 10 years (and definitely not this nice). Also, any recommendations on programs?

I would rec Auto desk sketch, Krita or Medibang Paint if you're looking for something free. Just keep the pen charged, keep the screen protector on, and remember that HDMI input is very tight so u need to really squeeze it in there.

@BORODANTE which one would you recommend, this tablet or the huion kamvas gt-191? I believe I'm ok with either one, I don't really care if I have or not buttons on it, I just want to be able to make straight lines with a ruler and have as little paralax as possible. So, which one did you like the most and would recommend?

Wich device do you recommend more Gaomon PD1560 or Huion GT - 191?
@ohshiet67266 жыл бұрын
Veronicaaser I own both of these and I think it’s all going to come down to screen size and placement. Gaomon PD1560 is 15.6 inch’s in screen size (probably less with the border) and its alittle more vivid in color if you feel like adjusting. The cable placement is through the right side so you can work flat. Huion Gt -191 is 19 inches in screen size and it’s color reproduction is pretty washed out so adjusting is best needed. And the cable placement is in the bottom back which causes your wires to bend. Gaomon has 10 shortcut keys and GT-191 doesn’t have anything. Overall two great Pen Displays but I use the Gaomon PD1560 more.

Really great reviews on this. Not sure if you've mentioned it in either video though, I watched both and skipped through and didn't so apologies if I did miss it BUT... With the pen, can you assign 'Alt' to one of the buttons so that you could colorpick? I've used a Huion and the pen before and I wasn't able to, it would essentially freeze the cursor. Something to do with it not being able to do hover state and button press. *shrugs*

Due to high density of pixels in my laptop, I have to have 107% (it's the ideal number; 108 is slightly too much) of enlargement of icons, because I couldn't stand Krita's small icons :P I don't use my Intuos stand, too, but because it looks like it's gonna fall just because I breathed, the pen is too heavy compared to the stand and gaps for laying pen are too small, it just doesn't look stable.

It's 6bit + FRC so it's technically 8 bit but lacks color accuracy. If it was indeed 6 bit, you could tell immediately as there are literally 16.5 million less colors.

Hello! Im thinking about buying one of these, but my laptop isnt that powerful, does that matter? Do I simply need to hook it up to update the tablet, not run it? The tablet runs independent of the laptop/pc right?
