I used this method on my nose today and it was amazing how much nasty stuff I took out! Now after washing all of the stuff off my nose with warm water, it is so soft and the pores reduced drastically. This has to be the most helpful video I've seen from your channel so far. Thank you! 🙂

Yes, but it's kinda hard on the delicate skin around the nose. The pick end of the flosser is better for extraction.

This has the potential to get really out of hand really quickly. You have to know yourself before you even attempt doing something like this. Because some people can't stop picking and squeezing once they start. Just be careful.

Yeah I know this is old but I have issues with picking at acne whether it’s on my breasts where I normally get it or the blackheads on my face. It’ll look fine except a few spots until I spend an hour messing with it all and then it takes weeks and sometimes months to go away

My pore tip of the day!! After waxing my upper lip and eyebrows, I have my aesthetician use witch hazel instead of another toner or aloe...and then when I get home I wash my face with Purity by Philosophy and then slather on a layer of my Peter Thomas Roth cucumber gel mask to soothe my red and irritated skin! I find it helps with those little white pimples that can happen after waxing and feels amazing on my sensitive skin!

Sarah Wilkerson chances are you dont have blackheads on your nose... you have sebaceous filaments. Google search them. you can squeeze them or use pore strips out but all you'll be doing is permanent enlarging your pores and they will just come back. the best and least damaging way to keep your pores clean is with a gentle daily BHA and a weekly clay mask.

I love this video, my nose is like extra oily. it's extra annoying because I wear glasses all the time so my nose especially the bridge of my nose is always oily. also, Jen, would this process of unclogging the pores in your nose be the same if you have a nose ring. because I can take it out but it tends to close quickly. Any tips for that?

I have tried to take out the blackheads and nother ever came out so I took a better look and now I shave them off with my eyebrow shaver and all the black hairs come off my nose. Not really, it's squeezing pores that can scar and or damage them, so that they stay enlarged. If you can see a dark blackhead, it is better to remove the oil (sebum) plug than to let it stay and continue to build up.

Oh girl there is an easier way! When you steam the pores you are opening them up but then you went and closed them by putting the toner on! Don't do that! In fact I don't steam my face at all I put some coconut oil on and let it soak in before doing battle with the sebaceous filaments. Wipe the oil off with a dry cloth and go to town. Trust me you will get so much more out. After that is done continue with the other steps. But the tooth flosser thing is brilliant! I can't wait to try this!

Steam does not open pores, that is a myth steam actually shrinks pores. Our pores are not like our muscles where heat can expand them

The steam doesnt "open" pores, but it softens up the gunk, so it can come out of the pores easier

These are excellent tips, especially the dental flosser one. I'm 53 and have done all but that one and now I don't feel badly about wasting the flossers since my teeth are too close together to use; I can just scrape my nose with them! Like you, I have otherwise great skin but those little whiteheads and sometimes blackheads plague the skin on and around my nose. I agree that vigilance with masks, exfoliation, and tea tree oil all help make and keep acne at bay as well. Kudos.

Great tips! I'm going to use them :) Just wanted to say that the white things you call whiteheads are actually sebaceous filaments. They occur when a lot of gunk builds up in the pore. It's not acne at all. White heads are actually pimples with the puss showing on top. I know, it's easy to mix them up! I did for a long time. I finally started to remove them correctly instead of using whitehead treatments. And that's when I don't have anymore! Lol :)

I have a bad habit of picking at my blackheads and white heads which just leaves marks, making me look worse. i love the tutorial, but i find using the tooth floss tool thing to be difficult (since you gotta use two). what i use is just a hair pin. it's small but it's easier to use plus you can concentrate on specific parts of your nose esp the skin were its difficult to squeeze out the white heads without ripping your nose apart!

You cannot get rid of blackheads and whiteheads permanently. Your face will always have pores, and will always secrete sebum and come into contact with environmental factors like dust, smoke etc. Having balckheads and whiteheads is normal, and can increase as you age and your pores tend to widen. You just have to care for your skin and minimize them. You're not doing anything wrong, your body is the way it is.

A trick you can try if you are still developing blackheads in the same pores over and over again is to soak a washcloth in cold water (as cold as you can stand) and place that over the open pores. This has the opposite effect of the first step shown in the video and will help your pores to close faster, reducing the swelling and the chance of them becoming clogged again.

That's actually kinda funny to me cuz I just finished giving my pet rat (yes, I have a rat lol) a bath with tea tree oil shampoo because he showed a lot of symptoms of having lice or mites. This was my first time trying the tea tree oil shampoo, so hopefully after a few more baths he will be back to normal

Sister Daniel Haha, no judgements. I have 5 guinea pigs and a hamster in my room, 3 rats in the house and 3 dogs plus some fish. Haha, yeah, my mother made us put tea tree oil in our shampoo when a supposed new species of lice (I think is what is was) was discovered. It could be cheaper to buy a bottle of tea tree oil and a pet safe shampoo of your choice and put a few drops of the oil in it. Maybe, I dunno. I read somewhere that putting tang drink mix (it's orange flavored for a slight taste for water) in your rodents bottle helps them live longer. My mom heard it from a pet store staff member, and I know they aren't always super trusty so I'd research it a lot first, but just a thought!

You can see lice but you should get a lice comb... if they're mites you will need to get a specific product for him. Read online if tea tree is toxic to rats before you use it again. Lice you can treat with a comb. A rat's fur is short enough, you can comb them off and kill them. Use cedar shavings for his bedding too.
