a mist of lemon juice, aloevera and apple cider vinegar, dilluted in water with a drop of teatree oil sprayed on the back before going to sleep. that worked wonders for me plus a coffee & honey peeling. for the peeling you use the rest of the coffee in the filter. so recyle something that would have thrown away and its for freeee :))) plus: wash your clothes and sheets more often with mild detergent and avoid plastic material on your skin!! good luck

I thoroughly appreciate that you bring to light the fact that every decision you make can affect your skin health, like your diet. It's important and a lot of people pretend like nothing in your body has anything to do with all the other parts of your body, like it's all separate, when in reality it's not. Everything is connected.

Slightly Toxic i was having the same issue. I found out that a lot of the issues I had were from eating those foods. When I avoided wheat and corn my skin started to clear up. If I’m honest, I did it for a great while and I felt amazing. I even lost weight that I couldn’t lose for years. Unfortunately I got into a hole and couldn’t afford healthier foods and eventually went back to eating unhealthy foods and foods that have wheat and corn. I know that there’s ways around it but i have to get back into that cycle. I hope you can find what’s causing your acne. I know it’s a struggle everyday for me.

Plus super sweet fruit like watermelon and mango has so many skin-beneficial vitamins & minerals. Also ... would you guys be open to discussing and / or reviewing skin clinic / aesthetician procedures like skin peels, microdermabradsian, fraxel laser, fraxel RF, dermapen etc?

First skin care video I’ve watch from start to finish without being bored. Nicely spoken, steady pace with helpful tips. I’ve struggled with moon crater pores my whole life. I couldn't agree more with the sugar thing! I've had the biggest sweet tooth ever since elementary school, and had hormonal acne ever since middle school. During college I wanted to try changing my diet to a healthier alternative and see how my skin would react. I completely cut refined sugars out and replaced any dessert cravings with a fruit or vegetable. After about 2 weeks I could already see such a big improvement in my complexion! Almost no pimples, less redness and brighter skin. I also made sure to sleep early and drink LOTS of water every day. Having a good skincare routine is a big plus, but it's really only the icing on the cake. If your body isn't happy with what you're giving it on the inside, it will show on the outside :). You need both to have the best results!

Hey, I know I'm late but just wanted to say thank you for such a detailed description on pores. I'm a dude who has been self conscious about my large pores for many years and I've tried asking other girls about how to take care of it but they just kept saying to wash it which I do every day to no avail. I've even tried buying those vacuum suckers for the face and it just didn't seem to work, but it did come with a random metal rod which I now know is something I can actually use now thanks to you two. I especially appreciate the scientific details, it gave me more confidence in what you were teaching and now hopefully I can start taking better care of my skin. I hope your 2023 is off to a good start and good luck on future videos.

While steaming provides multiple benefits to enhance the facial process, opening the pores is not one of them. Steam is used to soften the skin to make extractions easier to perform and less painful. In this scenario, the pore is not expanding; the impaction is loosening. Steaming introduces moisture to the skin, creating a more absorptive canvas for product application. Enzymes, acids, and retinoids all work more effectively when applied to freshly steamed skin - again, not because pores are more open, but because the moisturized skin more readily absorbs these ingredients. Because steam is intensely hydrating, it softens the top layer of the epidermis, which aids in exfoliating dead skin cells and promoting cell renewal.

I completely agree about the sugar thing!!! In December, I ate SOOOOOOO much sugar. Like toooooooo much. I went from having a pretty balanced diet to eating a bunch of sugar in one month, and I believe (along with the cold, dry weather) that that's what made me breakout like CRAZY. I have never had this bad of a breakout in my entire life and I was (am) devastated. I get white heads every day and my acne was inflamed. It got even WORSE after I tried the neutrogena gel moisturizer. Since I have oily dehydrated skin, I thought the gel would be fine but it honestly should made me break out even more and I got breakouts on my cheeks, which NEVER breaks out that badly. In the beginning of February, my skin was so inflamed and pimples appeared every day and the hyperpigmentation was unreal. I bought the biore salicylic acid, pixi glow tonic, and clean and clear moisturizer with salicylic acid. This kind of made my skin clear up, but it ultimately also made my skin inflamed and very sensitive bc I was using so much AHA and BHA. I finally switched to the cerave for normal to oily skin and back to my witch hazel toner and continued to use the clean and clear salicylic acid (using sunscreen every day of course!!) and my skin has become significantly less inflamed, probably because these products are MUCH gentler than the other ones I was using. I also added The Ordinary niacinamide + zinc and it's also controlled my oiliness and inflammed skin. My biggest issue is still whiteheads, acne, and hyperpigmentation. I ordered the coxrx centella blemish cream along with the azaelic acid suspension from TO. Hopefully these work to return my skin back to what it was before I had this huge break out. My advice: don't eat 3 cinnabuns in one month LOL. If anyone has oily/combo skin and has advice, pls lmk! I also am curious how azaelic acid has worked for other people!

So I’m currently in school to be an esthetician. During the cleanse swirling is the go to, just make sure to always move in an upwards motion. Toner you can rub or pat on but again if you rub it on make sure it’s in an upwards motion. Any other products such as a serum, moisturizer and sunscreen you should always pat in.

@@mr.e5441 I actually ate a lot of sugar when I was younger and by a lot I mean A LOT. Then I tried cutting it out of my diet and the cravings or the energy slumps weren't even the worst thing. I started getting actual headaches and it took about a month until they stopped. I managed not to eat any refined sugar for almost a year before I caved in again. Of course part of it is the determination to take the first step, but with any addiction the first hurdle are always withdrawal symptoms. They do heck to your determination. Secondly, cutting a habit isn't setting a goal for myself that I want to reach. There simply IS no goal. It's a day to day determination that you have to keep up. There's no "one small muffin won't harm" if you want to stay strong. Lastly - cutting refined sugar doesn't just mean cutting the obvious ones. Nowadays, so many products you can buy already contain refined sugar as an ingredient that it restricts your possibilities. If you are so strong-willed that you can simply decide what's good for you and act accordingly, congratulations. But if you expect everyone to be the same, you'll be sorely disappointed.

Cut out your sugar little by little. You dont need to cut everything at once. I was pretty much addicted to eating m&m's that have peanuts (the party size bag = about 64oz). It's a lot but I would be finishing the whole bag in less than a week, about 3-4 days. And was an unhealthy habit of mine but recently over the couple of months, I've been consuming less sugar than I would normally intake. I bought the party size bag of m&m's and havent finished it yet, which is good progress on my end because it means I'm not depended on them. I also try to buy food products that don't have added sugar or not so much added sugar. I love drinking my cranberry juice so it is important I find one that doesnt have any added sugar. Also, eating more veggies and fruit could help reduce your sugar cravings. So I still eat some of the same things like m&m's but my intake is less. And if there was a scenario where I had to drink soda, I would drink sprite since it's one of the few that has less sugar than most sodas. But I dont really drink sodas as much.

Sugar and hormones greatly effect your acne. I am a 14 year old girl who (for the most part) trys to stay on keto! I used to have really bad acne before I started dieting. Once I started, my acne really started to clear up with my skin routine. If I start my period, BAM I get a giant pimple (the one that hurts). These things can really affect your skin. Tip: if you love soda like I do, drink carbonated water! My dad makes our own carbonated water and I sometimes add no carb sweetener. (Use a sweetener that doesn't have any maltodextrin, sucralose, sucrose ect. in it because that raises insulin levels which equals ACNEEE. Instead use monkfruit, stevia, or erythritol based sweeteners. But beware, it makes you have the beanie doozies like crazyyy!)

I would love a video on 'para-medical skin care'. I have experienced acne at it's various different stages from really severe to just a couple of breakouts around my time of the month. After a really intensive skin journey using a para-medical brand - dmk skincare which involved regular enzyme therapy and a home skin care routine my acne got better but then my progress plateaued. Eventually I started taking minomycin which is an antibiotic that fights infections within the body such as acne. I am happy to say my skin has gotten much better and I am using a simple routine: QV Gentle Face Cleanser, Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid and finishing off with Squalane Oil by Olivearrier (in conjunction with antibiotics) but I'm just curious as to whether these paramedical brands are more/less effective than what is readily available on the market. Love your videos by the way - I feel you guys are well informed and really take into acocunt the science behind skincare.

I used the Sisley global perfect pore serum for a while and it helped my pores to clear up... you may be adding more bacteria to it. try to clean the area as soon as you extract
@lyndseymua6603
@lyndseymua6603 5 жыл бұрын
Christabel Onyenekwe it’s prob not a white head, it’s just sebum that has filled back into the pore after cleaning it. When you extract a blackhead make sure after you treat it with witch hazel or some type of astringent and then I usually will do a charcoal or salicylic/benzol peroxide treatment on the area. Salicylic is more for just topical infections where as benzol is used for deep infections under the skin. Also make sure to moisturize, if you dont then your natural oils will triple to create lost moisture hence the new build up your getting after the extraction. A light gel based moisturizer is awesome for oily skin. My favorite line for pores is from drunk elephant at Sephora. Their b hydra gel moisturizer, night time TLC serum or baby facial mask are GREAT for pores! Hope that helps.
@MyFavoriteNothing
@MyFavoriteNothing 5 жыл бұрын
usually, for me at least, this happens when you don't extract the blackhead entirely. so there's a little bit left in the pore, which then comes to the surface. however, because the skin heals over the pore a bit from the extraction, it becomes a whitehead instead of another blackhead. there have been times where I've done an extraction, thinking I got all the gunk, only to go back in and extract a bit more from the same pore until the whole thing is gone. or like another comment said, you got more bacteria in the pore while you were extracting. I never use my hands for extraction. I actually use clean fresh cotton swabs and never use the same ends of the swab for multiple pimples to avoid the spread of bacteria.

For face steaming, what I’ve done is boil water on the stove and pour it in a large glass bowl but only filling it halfway or so. That way, when I put my face over it, my face won’t touch the water in the bowl since it’s not filled. I also draped myself with a towel too to contain the steam and concentrate it on my face!

Hey there! I was wondering what your thoughts are on jade rollers. The purpose of them is that they are able to stay cool for a long period of time and people roll it as the wear a sheet mask. You explained in your video that if anything cool touches your face, it constrict your pores. If sheet the mask (which is always naturally cold) and applying the cold rolling jade on to the face, would I not be absorbing as much serum? I’ve been thinking about slightly warming my masks so that my pore wills stay open. What are your thoughts?

First of all, nutritionally speaking, it's not just 'sugar' that would cause a spike of blood glucose level, but in general, it's about carbohydrates. Also, when Rowena talked about the '100% fruit juice', one thing that comes into my mind is the sugar content of the drinks. Most of the time, the fruit juices sell out there contain heaps of sugar, but some promoted with a logo of 'less sugar' or the drink itself is not added with tonnes of sugar. This is really important when Rowena said her body is able to disgust the '100% fruit juice', now, you gonna relate it back to the sugar content of the drink that you can easily find out from the nutrition facts at the back of the drink. One possible thing that causes Rowena's body to be able to cope with '100% fruit juice' might be because of the fruit juices that she bought are low in sugar. So, check the carbohydrates and sugar content at the nutrition facts of the products before purchasing.
