Paul is such a good instructor - clear and concise explanations with the REASON you do a certain thing. Flag this b/c X. Train 1 portion of the problem b/c Y. etc. Often instructors tell you WHAT to do, with out telling you the WHY. You need to know the WHY in order to properly apply it to other problems. Great stuff. Learned a lot.

Great tips! The move you struggled with and Lizzy flashed, Lizzy used the opposite hand. I think you can do it ;) Block one hand being high up and just move the other hand instead of doing a dynamic move when the holds are small - this will be useful.

This video is absolutely instructive, awesome. You guys know how to get climbing technique tips across in a most vivid and visual way. Videos like this help a great deal in improving my climbing. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome collabs! I thought the insight on the last yellow climb was really interesting -- just to see this seemingly dynamic move get broken down into a more static but still super powerful move. I've definitely had problems where I've thrown myself at holds a bit too aggressively, when locking off and just hitting it would have been much easier. Also, Lizzy is awesome! I love how she climbs and watching her overall movement is so, so cool! Thanks as always for the vids!

So many good tips! 🙏 Fun to watch all of it. I got 1 pro tip down - #3: “brush” (brushing”; I use that to limit my excuses and to genuinely warm me up as well as stay warm-plus good etiquette. Your facial reaction to the “yellow” problem before starting-🤣 Absolute panic and nervous excitement - “oh shiiiiiiiznit”. Tip #6 - makes so much sense. Simple control (static) vs uncontrolled movement to grab minuscule hold. Lizzy is an agile torque generator of power and purposeful movement! 💪💪 Funny watching Paul in is flat sole shoes on tip #6 - thought he might just campus😝 Now to Geekclimb vid.👍

Awesome! I'm a student at CU and on the university climbing team and so Evo is my home gym. So cool to watch you try some of those boulders! That blue one was heinous, those start moves were so painful and the feet were so bad! That yellow was so tough too, getting those little slots were such accuracy moves. Not sure if you got a chance to try the red crimpy one around the corner from the yellow but that's the current project. Awesome video!

Hey Oswaldo, I love your videos. Keep it up! I had an idea for future videos. What would you think about just setting up a camera every time you boulder at the gym and uploading them for us to watch? As in, no commentary or special editing necessary, just raw footage of you climbing. I find it really helpful to watch videos like that so I can pause it, try to figure out what move I would make next in that situation, then un-pausing to see what you do. Unfortunately there just aren't that many videos of the sort on youtube (outside of professional bouldering competitions which are so beyond my skill level that they're not particularly helpful). This would also allow you to produce more content without spending tons of time editing. Let me know what you think!

I guess it's random but the trick I found to avoid getting impaired by pumped forearms early in the session is to keep my arms above my head for some time. I realized that when I was doing longer routes in top rope. Because the routes are longer I would almost always get pumped by the end of it. To "unpump" my arms after one climb what i would do is lean against a wall, facing the wall, with my arms stretched out towards the ceiling (just using the wall to support my arms so I don't actually get tired just keeping my hands above my head... Stay like this a minute or two. I felt like this naturally drained my arms and then I didn't feel as pumped, if at all.

Nice one blue boulder, sometimes is more about feeling than about the number on tag.. and then you'll be surprise.
@bizmonkey0074 жыл бұрын
I think if he didn’t look at the tag and just climbed it, he would’ve done far better; he’s a good climber. What I hate about indoor climbing versus outdoor is that people can get too intimidated by the rating on the wall, and let it get in their head.

Maybe it would help to always focus more on the feet and balancing. I think that sometimes guys depend on upper body strength and create a deficit in their footwork when the holds aren’t large enough to pull on. I’ve noticed that people who are flexible and really focus on balance over strength are much better climbers. So yeah, just my two cents....but great video oswaldo...✌🏽😎

Oswaldo, I have a fear of slab walls for some reason. I think it's because I'm afraid to scrape against the wall. I will get half way or more up a route and then quit because of anxiety. Any suggestions?
@rockentry4 жыл бұрын
I’ve had the same issue before and I still do depending how high the wall is. What’s helped me is to build up my confidence when it comes to foot work and body positioning. In my situation the fear came because I didn’t trust doing certain moves or placing my foot on small foot holds, the more I work on these the more confident I get on the wall. Also, practicing some falls help. This way you are familiar with falling and there won’t be any surprises. Practice falling in different heights and work your way up from there. Hope this helps!
